Rise and Shine

by Meghann on October 26, 2008

It’s another beautiful morning here in Tallahassee. The sun is brightly shining and the weather is nice an cool. Oh how I miss the cool Tallahassee weather!

This morning I dragged my Sister out of bed to join me on the same 6 mile run I completed yesterday. My Sister was always considered the ‘runner’ in our family. She ran cross country and track in high school and even competed with me in some 5ks last year. However, she looked at running more as a casual hobby and never gave it the heart that I put into it. Somewhere along the way, I went from begging my Sister to stop and walk on our runs, to having her tell me to slow down in our run today. I don’t know when it happened, but somehow I became the ‘runner’ ๐Ÿ™‚

I also helped my Sister set a new PDR today. Before this morning the farthest she had run had been 5 miles and I pushed her to complete 6. She had her doubts when we started , but we managed and finished without stopping to walk once! It felt great to help push my Sister and I am currently trying to talk her into running a 10k with me in a couple of weeks. She reads my blogs and comments, so lets give her a little encouragement. ๐Ÿ™‚

After our run and showers, my family debated what to do for breakfast. We could fight the crowds at various restaurants around town or we could stay in and make a perfectly fine breakfast at home. We voted on staying in.

I love how some of my healthy eating habits of rubbed off on my Sister. She had Whole Wheat pancake mix that my Dad mocked, but made me happy! I had Whole Wheat Blueberry Pancakes with fresh strawberries on top and some fruit on the side.

We used frozen blueberries in the mix and I have to say it worked really well to make the perfect blueberry pancakes. I will have to remember that in the future.

Now I am preparing for the 4 hour drive back home! Maybe I can steal a good movie from my sis to fall asleep to in the back seat. I probably, won’t be back to post until late so have a great Sunday everyone!
