Parent's Lunch

by Meghann on October 4, 2008

Lunch with my parents was great. We ended up at California Pizza Kitchen which is honestly my favorite ‘chain’ pizza place. I love how unique all of their pizzas are and everything always tastes so fresh there.

To start off my Dad and I shared the half size portion of the Grilled Vegetable Salad which according to the menu is Grilled asparagus, Japanese eggplant, zucchini, green onions and roasted corn, served warm over a bed of chilled Romaine lettuce, fresh avocado and sun-dried tomatoes in a Dijon balsamic vinaigrette. (we got the dressing on the side)

This is a picture of my half. This salad was good!! I almost wish we would have split the full size because I definitely could have ate a lot more of it. Even my Dad liked it and he sometimes rolls his eyes at what I order. πŸ™‚

For the main course my parents and I decided to split a pizza. I really wanted to try the new Pear and Gorgonzola Cheese pizzaCaramelized pears, Gorgonzola, Fontina and Mozzarella cheeses, caramelized sweet onions and chopped hazelnuts. Topped with field greens tossed in our Gorgonzola ranch dressing – but for some reason no one else wanted to get it. πŸ™ Instead we went with the other new pizza, The Buffalo Chicken Pizza – Grilled chicken marinated in SPICY Buffalo sauce with Mozzarella cheese, carrots, celery and crumbled Gorgonzola cheese. (I also asked for Honey Wheat crust)

I had two slices and let me tell you this pizza was good! It had a little spice, but not overpowering where I wanted to give up on it. I happily ate the two slices and then picked at the crumbs left on the plate.

After lunch we went to see How to Lose Friends & Alienate People. there really wasn’t much playing at the theater so we took a chance at this one and were pleasantly surprised! It was a little raunchy but very funny. I give it two thumbs up!

After the movie and a little shopping with Mom and Dad (have I mentioned how much I love my Mom and Dad?!?!) We went to one of my favorite little yogurt places near the theater called Sweet!

I got a small tart yogurt with mangos and granola toppings. I definitely think tart yogurt is an acquired taste and I have become a big fan of it.

Tonight my cousin and I are attending the Orlando Greek Festival. I can not wait to try all of the wonderful Greek food! Baklava here I come! πŸ™‚

I’d be all over that buffalo pizza – I love my hot sauce! Glad it wasn’t too overpowering though!

I’m off to light the bbq!

I’m OBSESSED with Greek food. YAY! I can’t wait for that post.
I must say, I’ve only eaten at CPK a couple times, but I always get the same thing: their Waldorf salad. IT’S RIDIC.
Cute little yogurt!
