Post Race Fuel

by Meghann on September 27, 2008

Thank you to everyone out in blogland for all of your wonderful comments about my race this morning! You guys ROCK!

After this morning’s run I, of course, was exhausted and crashed for a couple of hours on the couch in front of the tv. It was wonderful πŸ™‚

Before passing out, my Dad stated he had a gift card to Macaroni Grill that he wanted to use and I of course happily agreed to go to eat with him. (….ok so I was starving and begged him to take me using the gift card, but really whose paying attention?)

Apparently all of those calories I burned this morning were dying to be replenished because I was HUNGRY when we sat down. I knew before we went that I wanted pizza, but I vouched to ignore the lunch option and went ahead with the dinner portion of pizza. This is VERY unlike me, but like I said above I was hungry.

I started my meal with a small garden salad with the house dressing on the side & no croutons. I managed to leave some cheese behind but ate all of the veggies. Yum!

For my Pizza I decided on the Chicken Pesto Pizza. My Dad had actually ordered the lunch portion of the Sicilian pizza and I should of took a picture of comparing ours. His was a like a mini pita pizza while mine was the size of a large plate.

I gave one slice to the pizza to my Dad, but I pretty much devoured the whole pizza all by myself, all that was left were a few pieces of crust. I was happily satisfied after all of that post race fuel. πŸ™‚

After my much deserved nap this afternoon I was itching to go spend a little more of my time outside. I took Abbie to Cranes Roast Park where we walked a good mile around the beautiful water pathway.

While on my walk I munched on this delicious plum…

… and decided to try one of my new mini Larabars

This was my first time trying the pistachio flavor and it was yet another Larabar winner! I also loved the mini version of the Larabars, it was the perfect sized little snack. I’m glad I stocked up while I could.

Tonight I’m going out with some High School friends to celebrate one of my best friend’s 24th birthday! It’s so weird to say she’s turning 24, that means 24 is just around the corner for me. We’re getting so old!

We’re all meeting up at Firkin & Kegler for some food and good times. I’ve never been before, but this place is suppose to be like an upscale Dave and Busters. It will be nice to run around, play games and act like a little kid again. It will also be nice to do so while drinking a nice cold beer. πŸ™‚ I hope everyone else has a great Saturday night!

Ya’ll are NOT old. That means I am ancient. My 10-year reunion is next year. Ew!
If running means you get to eat a major delicious pizza like that, sign me up!

I love Macaroni Grill. Their bread is very dangerous for me. πŸ™‚

It looks so gorgeous where you live! I love walking around the water.

I had no idea there was such thing as a mini larabar (one of my favorite bars)! Where can you buy them?
