#WDWMarathonTraining Week 12

by Meghann on November 17, 2016

Hello from week 12!

week-12

Man, I finished that week feeling great. I got all my runs in, I’m inching closer to dropping below a 10:00 /mi pace, and I still managed to run 13 miles with family staying with us over the weekend.

Then I saw this pop up on Facebook…

7-yrs-ago

Ha! That’s from the first time I trained for the Walt Disney World Marathon (a lifetime ago) back in 2009! Even though I’m in a much different place in my life than I was back then, I can’t help but laugh at how far off from those numbers I am. One day I’ll get back there. One day.

Tuesday

  • Distance: 3 mi
  • Time: 32:33
  • Pace: 10:10

Still sticking to my 30 second pick-ups here. I need to pick it up a little more and really commit to giving it my all during those times.

Thursday

  • Distance: 4 mi
  • Time: 42:21
  • Pace: 10:35

Friday

  • Distance: 4.5 mi
  • Time: 36:42
  • Pace: 10:25

I was not feeling this run at all. I wanted to turn the alarm off and just got to bed. I didn’t. I got up, chugged along, and made it through. No regrets here.

Sunday

  • Distance: 13 mi
  • Time: 2:15:17
  • Pace: 10:24

I was a tad worried about this run. My family was staying with us and it’s always harder to sneak out when you know the house is full of cozy, sleeping people.

I was up at 5:00am and went through my normal routine of downing coffee and inhaling an english muffin. The temperature had dropped a little bit over the weekend, which felt phenomenal.  I stashed a bottle of watered-down Gatorade just outside my neighborhood with a pack of fruit snacks and hit the road.

I cruised through the first few miles, circling back and having some of the water bottle and fruit snacks about halfway though the run. I tried a new route for my second loop and arrived back at the start earlier than expected. I grabbed the rest of the water with about 3 miles to go and had to get pretty creative weaving in and out of the neighborhood to get to the finish. By the end, I was completely done, but I still felt great getting there.

I feel like I’ve come so far, but still have so far to go. Less than two months to go until race day. I’ve got this!

Girl, you are inspiring and I can’t help to feel proud of you as I read your updates every week and see how far you’re running now. Good job!

I just have to say…as someone who didn’t have a baby in the last year’ish and is juggling that + a full time job, I am super impressed!! I ran my one and only marathon back in 2013 and maintaining fitness since has been tough and filled with lots of ups and downs, so to see you committing to this goal and doing SO well is quite the inspiration!
