Office Snacking with Orchard Valley Harvest

The evolution of my hunger:


I thought I was hungry while I was IRONMAN training, but that level of hunger has nothing on how hungry I am while breastfeeding. I read somewhere that the calories you burn while breastfeeding peaks between 3 and 6 months, which makes complete sense considering I’m currently 4 months in and eating everything in sight. My sweet tooth is also out of control. DOUGHNUTS! CAKE! COOKIES! I want it all. My co-worker told me it was dangerous to sit by a breastfeeding mom. I guess she found it hard to resist all of the cookies runs I invited her on.

To control my hunger, I’ve learned eating frequent small meals and snacks is the best strategy. Having a well stocked snack drawer is also key to keeping my sanity (and preventing me from ballooning to 500 pounds on doughnuts, cake, and cookies).  Thanks to Orchard Valley Harvest, my snack drawer is now stocked with delicious healthy alternatives when my sweet tooth goes into overdrive.

Sadly, nothing right now! I usually keep Larabars and Kashi crunchy chocolate chips bars, but I’m getting burnt out on “health bars”. These chocolate covered almonds sound delicious! A much better choice than anything that’s in the vending machine downstairs at my office.

I don’t have a snack drawer yet, but right now I’ve been making all too frequent trips to the Kahwa in our neighborhood on our daily walks for their oatmeal, chocolate chip, flax seed, peanut butter cookies. They’re amazing!

I usually have a small bag of mixed nuts with me (unsalted, dry roasted), a Picky bar when I’m on the go. At work I like to have those + apples or pears and PB at the ready to snack on before my commute or I’m usually starving by the time I make it home!

When I was working outside the home, I always had tea. The food rotated between popcorn, trail mix, and some sort of bar. Now that I work from home, I try not to keep too many snacks around!

I’m lucky that I work in school nutrition so I have a whole warehouse as my snack drawer! I usually will grab pretzels, hummus, goldfish, sunflower seeds & dried fruit.

Yes! I have never been hungrier than I have been in the last 16 months of breastfeeding. I love that these snacks are portion controlled.

I try to keep my snack drawer filled with healthy snacks – protein bars, beef jerky, peanut butter, rice cakes, nuts. It keeps me out of the candy basket most of the time!!!!

I usually have nuts and packets of hot cocoa, sometimes I have bars or something crunchy like popcorn or puffed corn. I bring in some baby carrots or oranges every week or 2 to keep in the fridge as well.

I can’t have a snack drawer. I would just eat my way through it on day 1! I dontry to pack a balanced lunch to keep me full so I don’t need additional snacks. There are definitely long days where I wish I had enough control to have a snack drawer!

I had a baby a month ago, and while I was unable to breastfeed, I still find that I am hungry ALL the time. Especially at night; I don’t think my body is used to being up at all hours of the night. In my snack cabinet are El Fudge cookies, plain M and Ms, popcorn and PopChips. So healthy, ha.

My snack drawer is more of an herbal tea drawer which is my go to afternoon drink. I fortunately/unfortunately work across the street from a bulk food store so a quick trip for chocolate covered almonds happens at least weekly!

This year I am aiming to keep my snack drawer healthy and on the empty side. If I know it’s there I will want to eat it. I am trying to keep 100 calorie snack packs in the drawer for the most part.

I’m completely envious of your office La Croix water stash! I keep a jar of pb and oatmeal packets on hand and take little snacks to work every day, cheese sticks, yogurt, carrot sticks, sparkling water, cucumber slices to add to crushed ice from DD down in the lobby. Never thought to keep nuts. A co worker keeps a drawer completely full of small candy bars, DANGEROUS.

I work from home so my snack drawer is my entire kitchen which can be good or very bad! Sometimes I make the healthy choice and have some cheese and nuts and other times I get into the chocolate stash at 9 am. I remember that breastfeeding hunger very clearly and it is intense!

I have to do pre-portioned snacks, otherwise I’ll eat the whole bag :). I’m 30 weeks pregnant so these would be perfect to keep in my desk or purse when I’m on the go!

My appetite has been in overdrive, since i upped my workouts to make them even harder and include free weights. I’ve been living on salads, Kit Organic Bars (which are Cliff bars answer to Lara Bars), nuts (almonds, pistachios, etc.) and some dark chocolate.

Unfortunately, my sweet tooth is also in full gear so I’ve been battling with that (all of the chocolate bars and chocolate chip cookies please).

No snack drawer for me since I’m on maternity leave. I go back to work in a few weeks and I’ll be at the 3 month breastfeeding mark, so I could use these snacks! For me it’s about portion control… hand me a bag of chocolate covered almonds or trail mix and I’ll kill that bad boy in one sitting. I like that these are pre portioned 🙂

We have those chocolate covered almonds in a vending machine at work (where hitting a step goal unlocks a snack…so fun) and they are quite tasty. The bags we have there look larger but I find just 6 of those almonds really satiating.

My snack drawer at work is stocked with quest bars, V8 juice, microwaveable popcorn, Adora dark chocolate, gum and cans of soup ( in case I don’t want the lunch I packed for that day)!
