How insane is it that it’s Thursday already? Man, this week has just flown by way too fast. I’ve been pretty busy at work lately and being busy always makes the days fly faster, right?
Speaking of being faster, yesterday was a run day at CrossFit. We had a timed 400m run as our skill/focus for the day. The morning class can be hit or miss in size, but yesterday was pretty good turnout with 11 (5 guys/6 girls). I’m so not a sprinter (I always get killed at sprinting distances), but was proud of my 1:23.81 finish time. It was good enough to be the fastest girl, but I was still 5 second behind the slowest guy!
We finished the class with a partner 15 minutes AMRAP of 5 box jumps, 10 medicine ball push-ups, and a 60 yd shuttle run. It was the WOD that went on and on forever.
However, that didn’t compare to the toughness of Monday’s WOD. It’s probably one of the only WODs where I was *this close* to breaking down in tears in the middle.
- 25 burpees
- 5 rounds of:
- 12 toes to bar
- 9 dips (bar or ring)
- 6 power clean to push press 115-135#/80-95# (I used 65#)
- 25 burpees
I think it was the heavier weight on the power clean to push press mixed with the high sets of toe to bars and multiple rounds trapped in a burpee sandwich, it just killed me (and I didn’t even come close to rxing!). My body was shaking by the end, I definitely gave it all I had! I was DONE.
I finally downloaded an app to track my CrossFit PRs and WODs. We have index cards at my box where we can track everything, but my card was always so disorganized. I noticed that a friend tracked his in his phone, so I searched the Play Store for “CrossFit APP” and downloaded the app with the highest reviews (WODBOX).
So far I’m a fan. The app probably has more functionality features than I’ll ever need, but for now it’s nice just to quickly log things in as I’m walking out the door. The app is so much more organized and convenient. And in case I forget to log everything that morning, I can easily do it later that night or when I get to the office.
So, tomorrow’s Valentine’s Day – is anyone doing anything fun? Derek and I kind of went all out for my birthday last weekend, so we’re going to play it low key tomorrow. We’re thinking it’s going to be a pho take out and RedBox sort of night. Anything worth renting?
