Hey guys!
You knew I couldn’t fly all the way to a tropical island and not enjoy at least one run on the beach.

I’ve been able to sneak in a few early runs before the resort really wakes up and there is nothing better than having the beach all to yourself in the early morning sunshine. There’s something so peaceful and calming about running on the beach when it’s just you, the sand, and the waves.

The runs have also given me a chance to test out the new Moving Comfort Sprint Tech Skort, the company sent me to test out from their new spring collection.

The running skort is just plain fun. I love the purple skirt layered on top and the unexpected pattern of the compression boy shorts hidden underneath. The skort is extremely comfortable with a very forgiving wide waistband on top and the grippy bottom that prevents the boy shorts from riding up. There’s also a hidden pocket in the back of the waistband for an ipod, gu, or hotel keycard, and an infinity drawcord that cinches at sides for a ruched look.

Don’t worry – I share.
I have one Moving Comfort Sprint Tech Skort (a $54 value) to give away to one lucky Meals and Miles reader.

So far is has been a run on a treadmill on a cruise ship. Seeing nothing but beautiful water in front of you makes running on a treadmill pretty awesome
My favorite vacation run was this past summer, I had not been on a vacation for a few years so I was so excited to get a run on the beach. It was the first morning there and I ran 3 miles on the beach at 6:30 in the morning. I loved it because it was great to just be me, the sand and the waves. There actually was quite a bit of other runners and it put a smile on my face to see that there are other dedicated runners out there early in the morning.
My favorite vacation run is when we go up north in Michigan. I love running out onto the pier on Lake Huron. It is so beautiful and peaceful. I feel all my worries evaporate!
My favorite is probably along Rosemary/Seacrest Beaches in the panhandle of Florida. I heard songs on my iPod yesterday (windchill in the teens) that took me back to the back!
Well it wasn’t a vacation, but I did have a few incredibly beautiful runs along the beach in the OC (don’t call it that) on a work trip. Stunning sunrises!

Destin, Florida! Loved running on the beach there!
My favorite vacation run was definitely when I went to Hawaii and was running along Waikiki beach! The water and surroundings there are just beautiful!
Running from the Dutch side of Sint Maarten to the French side and back. It was beautiful and during the last quarter mile there was a quick sunny rain shower.
I do not have an amazing vacation run story but I did have an amazing run this past weekend. I ran through DC and it was just awesome.

I love running around our cabin up north along the shores of the lake!
I don’t run, however I love to try new fitness classes wherever I go. My favorite was a Zumba class I took in DC. I’m an instructor in the Philadelphia area, so it’s always fun to see other instructors in new locations.
i walked a 5K on a cruise ship one time!

my favorite vacation runs are at our annual family vacation to the jersey shore, i take my daughter (and this year my son too!) in the jogging stroller and run on the beach before everyone wakes up and then we look for shells near the water. i look forward to it all year long.
In the last few years I’ve coordinated my vacation time around races so my favorite vacation run was a race this past year. I ran Bolder Boulder, which 150% lives up to its reputation as the best 10k. There were parties all along the course where spectators offered cotton candy, beer and other goodies, while one house even had a slip and slide. It also is pretty fun to say I ran a 10k a mile above sea level
I have yet to actually get to run on a vacation
. I was supposed to be able to run in January in Arizona but I’m having IT band surgery this week so it looks like I”ll have to wait a few weeks…. boo!
My favorite place to run is the state park near my hometown when i am visiting my parents. its beautiful!
Running on a beach in Maui equals perfection. Absolutely loved it!
I was a college athlete so might be strange to some but i LOVED taking runs on/around all the campuses that we visited. The scenery, all the unique buildings and just different atmospheres were so fun to be apart of!!
My favorite vacation run was at the grand canyon. I’ve never seen anything so beautiful and the mix of adrenaline and pure awe was beyond words!
My favorite vacation run was just a couple weeks ago. I went to Iowa to meet up with some friends and we ran around the Iowa State campus. While it wasn’t anything super crazy or extra pretty, it was just fun having friends to run with!

I ran before my wedding in Positano, Italy. You can’t beat the gorgeous mountain and ocean views on the Amalfi Coast!
I am really bad at working out while on vacation. I did enjoy a nice run on the shores of Lake Erie last summer that wore me out.
Vegas….it was early morning, I felt like I owned the strip…the only people out were a few hotel/restaurant workers and other runners. It was my favorite part of the vacation.

My best run on a vacation was while visitng my sister in MA. She lived a couple blocks from the beach so I ran down there and along the shore for 3 miles and back. There was a really nice walking path that paralleled the beach which made for a perfect running surface (running in sand is not my favorite thing!)
My favorite vacation run was in Cambridge, MA along the Charles River. It was the week before my very first 10K and it was a great change of scenery seeing the sparkling water and all the crew teams.
Running on a treadmill on a cruise ship was fun, although it made me a little woozy!
My favorite vacation run was definitely on the beach in Puerto Rico!
Early morning run in Crystal city near D.C… got to watch airplanes landing in purple sky
My favorite vacation run was on Chicago’s lakeside trail while I was there for a friend’s wedding. Nothing better than a nice urban run next to the beautiful lake. Who knew Chicago could feel like a sea-side town? Loved every mile!
My favorite vacation run is still one I took with my father about 20 years ago. I was in high school and frustrated spending my weekends at my brothers endless soccer tournaments. We were staying at a hotel that wasn’t in too busy of an area so my dad said lets go for a run.
We ran through this neighborhood that all of the sudden became questionable. There were lots of dogs barking at us and we started running faster. There was this one dog running along his fence barking and then all of the sudden the fence disappeared and he was still running along side me barking. So we ran faster! The dog eventually stopped wherever he thought his yard ended.
We made it back to the hotel pretty high on adrenaline and laughing. So, it wasn’t a pretty or relaxing vacation run, but it is one we will always remember. And because I do remember that crazy run, I remember that my dad did try to take time out for me even when my teenaged self didn’t realize it.
My favorite vacation run is on the beach at Jekyll Island in the early morning. It is so peaceful and serene.
I haven’t ran on vacation yet (just started running about 2 years ago). I brought all my running gear to Hong Kong but it rained every single day I was there!
In South Africa!! I was told that it wasn’t safe enough for me to run in the community where I lived during my internship, but one day I found this small gym tucked away in a shopping center. They let me use a treadmill for free, and let me tell you–that run was like a little slice of heaven!

My favorite vacation run was on the beach in Costa Rica (on my honeymoon!) It was early and the sun was just rising. Everything was quiet and peaceful until I heard the extremely loud, deep sound of the howler monkeys in the trees! It scared me to death until I realized what it was!

My favorite “vacation” run was on a work trip to Columbia, SC two winters ago. Living in NY running outside from December to March pretty much sucks so this trip I’m February was amazing. It was in the low 60s so I was thrilled to wear shorts. I found a waterfront path to run down. Perfection.
My favorite vacation run was in a blizzard in Montana! It was first for me and obviously memorable!
My all time favorite run on vacation is when we go to WDW! I love running at the resort with the other out of town runners! The Riverside as a great path that I run and it is so peaceful by the river and then running past all the guests going to breakfast! Love this run!
I didn’t quite like running on a cruise ship, the sea was getting to me
However, one of my favorite places to run is in the Adirondacks when I get to go to my granparents camp! Always fun to spot animals and wild berries
so far my favorite vacation run has been at Disney World! I got up early one morning and ran around our hotel grounds, then over to the magic kingdom then back to my hotel. It was amazing! No one was around! Would love to win this skirt!
I would have to say that my favorite vacay run would be when I ran the Disney Princess Half in 2010! We took our kids to Disney World to celebrate me finishing breast cancer treatment and to run my first half post-treatment. It was awesome for so many reasons!

Vacation runs are the best! I haven’t done them anywhere too exciting: Phoenix, Minneapolis and Seattle this year.
But when you’re not rushing to get it in before work and all of the other things in a normal day, it is so much more enjoyable.
Cute skirt!! Thanks for the chance of winning one.
My fav vaca run was on a cruise ship treadmill. Normally I hate treadmills, but running with nothing but water ahead was surprisingly calming and beautiful! Can’t wait to repeat that one on my honeymoon cruise coming up in 2 short months!
So cute! Love the purple pattern.
Running along the Mediterranean while studying abroad in Spain. Feeling that warm sunshine & the splash of the ocean water in another country was the best feeling!

The best run I have ever done in my life was last March. I had (finally) almost completed the Couch to 5K plan, and was tackling a 25 minute run. This run happened to fall smack dab in the middle of a vacation to Israel – the first time seeing my boyfriend in 3 months (he was away 5 months total). He actually scouted for locations before I left, and my first day there, he was so excited to tell me what he found: Haas Promenade. Now, that name means nothing to most people so I will let a picture speak for itself: http://www.math.toronto.edu/drorbn/Gallery/Jerusalem/ViewFromPromenade_2048.jpg . The view was the old city of Jerusalem. It was a difficult run (very hilly), and different levels which necessisitated going up and down small flights of stairs, but I did it…and more. I actually completed my first 30 minute run that day!

Oh, this is good…..My favorite run while away from home was last MAY. While at the cabin up north I ran around my “hometown” lake…I had biked it many more times than I could every count but NEVER run around it…10 miles total. I did it and felt sooooo great…like I had almost conquered world hunger.
HA!
My grandmother’s condo is on Singer Island in Florida; I absolutely love going out for early morning runs along the water. As someone who was born and raised near the ocean (in RI) and then moved far, far away from it, getting back to the water makes me happy!
I haven’t had too many vacation runs. But love running around my hometown whenever I visit my parents, I love to see whats the same and whats changed over the years. I’ll be on a cruise ship in 2 weeks and do plan to run once or twice following my marathon training plan.
I was staying at a beach front resort with my afmily in Hawaii, and every morning I ran up and down the sidewalk at the top of the beach, and watched the sun come up. It was pretty gorgeous.
Favorite “away” run is probably Ko Olina along the water when I was working at Aulani in Hawaii. But that was a business trip run… I guess my favorite vacation run is along the Cape Cod canal. I’ve done many long runs up there as my summer vacations tend to coincide with long runs on my marathon training schedules.
My all-time favorite run was during a conference in DC. I ran through the monuments & along the reflecting pond. I can’t wait to return to DC so I can run this again someday!
I ran through Sydney, Australia – saw stunning views of Sydney Harbor and made my way past the Opera House – it was gorgeous!
My favorite run was years ago on a cruise ship. The treadmills where over the ocean, with an amazing view.
I enjoyed a run on my honeymoon on the cruise ship’s walking/running path around the boat! Fun to have 360 degrees of sun and ocean!
My favorite vacation run was along the Upper West Side Highway in Manhattan last spring when I was training for my first half marathon. It was my longest run to date, and I was super nervous, but the scenery and the river kept me going the whole time! Spotting the actor who played John Locke on Lost was also a bonus
My favorite vacation run? The Disney 1/2 Marathon this past Saturday – it was my first and I am now addicted! They put on a great race!!
On the beach of Kauai! It was on my honeymoon and I loved getting up early to run before the rest of the island was awake.
Running around Key West by far has been my favorite vacation run ever!
I haven’t been on a real vacation in about six years. But I went to the Florida Keys and just ran around the development we were staying in. It was so nice because the route I took was all along the water and it was just beautiful! That is back when I first started enjoying running.

It may not be exactly a vacation run, but hands down my fave away from home run is running by my cabin. It is quiet, no one is around, I can run without fear in only a sports bra and the scenery is amazing.
I had a great run in Aruba! It was so relaxing and a nice way to start the day!
My favorite vacation run was in Maui, right along the ocean front. My husband and I daydream about it all the time… it was so fun to go dip in the water at the end of our run.
i absolutely love to run when i’m on vacation. most recently I ran the cooper river bridge in Charleston, SC and it was breathtaking, but nothing beats running on the beach with the Aruban sunrise
My favorite vacation run was at Disney, around our resort before anyone was really awake
Nice and peaceful!
I ran 6 miles in the city of Berlin, Germany. Even though it was cold and cloudy, it was a great way to explore the city!
My favorite place that I have run on vacation is the outer banks of NC!
The rest of the family was relaxation at the outer banks, and I laced up my shoes and decided to run into town. I’m normally only at the beach but figured I would switch it up for once. It was awesome running by the little shops and restaurants I never paid attention to!
As much as I love a good beach run, trail running in the mountains near Asheville, NC is my favorite. So beautiful, so tough, and so quiet. Love it.
My favorite vacation running spot is Hilton Head, SC. My parents live there, and I usually get in a great run around their plantation when I visit. Love it!

My favorite place? That’s a tough one (lots of good ones to choose from). I’d say Vermont – beautiful mountain scape & the freshest smelling air!
My favorite vacation run is on the beach to a nearby lighthouse!
My favorite vacation run spot is Hawaii, hands down! There was a 3 mile paved path right beside the ocean where the views were incredible – and from there you could connect into a fancy schmansy neighborhood with the most incredible mansions.
Running the carriage trails in Acadia National Park – there is nothing better!
Gotta say, favorite run would be at Disney World. It was technically a vacation to do the half last year, but running through the castle – too cool!

I had two epic runs last year on vacation.
1.) Punta Cana Dominican Republic. I woke up early and ran on the trail next to the beach at our resort as the sun came up. The weather was perfect, no one was around and the sun rise was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
2.) Hyde Park in London England. It was obviously cooler, and a bit misty but again no one was around except a few other runners, and some dog walkers. I ran through Hyde Park and right by Kensington Palace in the early morning. With all the beautiful architecture it was one of my favorite runs.

I ran once while camping….beautiful scenery, lots of wild life then we came across some animal tracks. Bear..hog..deer….needless to say, I did not run very far before turning back.
We are living in Germany right now, so every trip we take to a new city/country I try to get out for a couple miles in the morning. Each new place is my new favorite!
My favorite is when the hotel treadmills each have their own TV so you can watch whatever you want and are able to hear it! Small perk, but I just love it!
I’ve never tried a running skort before but it looks so cute on you! Cute clothes make working out that much more fun
My favorite vacation run was when we were on a Disney cruise to the Bahamas and we ran a 5K on their private island. So much fun!
My favorite vacation run was with the girls on a girls weekend. We ran the trails around the cabin we were staying in.
My favorite vacation run was at an open air gym in the forest in Mexico. It was quite hot but you could hear tropical birds singing the entire time. That’s better than an iPod any day

My favorite vacation run was supposed to be on the upper deck of my cruise ship (my first cruise ever) but it turns out it’s pretty windy out there, so I had to take my skirt-clad bottom back to my room after only a few laps. (The view was spectacular, though).
So instead I’ll just go with an early morning Virginia Beach boardwalk run in April – there were only a few people on the beach, it was finally warm, and I ran the entire boardwalk. It was my first time ever in Virginia Beach, so of course I had to stop and take a picture at the Neptune statue. I live in a beach town and in the summertime I am so busy I rarely drive to the boardwalk to run, but this particular run was just awesome, and I loved feeling like a tourist at the beach for once!

My favorite vacation run was in Hawaii. I had the chance to run on Hickam AFB (I was teaching a class there) and while I was running, the Thunderbirds flew in for the air show that weekend. I guess my fav vacation run was on a cruise, I did a few workouts on the treadmills but the gym was so hot I ventured outside one day. I ran on the teeny tiny outside track, something like 20+ laps a mile, while we were at sea. Turning into the wind made me almost lose my hat on every lap, but running the same direction we were travelling made for some awesome looking times on my Garmin.
My favorite vacation run was definitely when I was in San Francisco. Living in flat-as-a-pancake Ohio did not prepare my legs for the hills of San Fran and I managed to squeeze in a run every day I was there, oh it hurt so good!

My favorite vacation run was in Vegas! It was morning and the city was quiet and it was really nice and cool to see all the hotels… plus having to run up stairs over some of the streets definitely added a new dimension to the run!
that skort looks so cute on you! but i don’t know if i could pull it off! i’ve been wanting to invest in a running skirt forever now, so being able to try one out through a giveaway would be ideal… i just need to know i’ll like it before i make the financial leap

My best vacation run was in Virginia Beach, on the beach! I was woken up by the sunlight and decided to get in a run before continuing on our trip. Once on the beach I was joined by the guys from the local military base doing their morning runs – the cadences they would sing kept my pace better than it’d been in months!

I don’t have a specific favorite – but its anytime I can get somewhere new, off road (trail). I love to see the nature scenery in other places!
My favorite vacation run was in Paris. I went to Paris on a whim (I purchased my ticket on a Tuesday and left that Saturday.) Our hotel was 5 minutes from Trocadรฉro, which has the most amazing views of the Eiffel Tower. This run was so amazing for a few reasons:
1) In 2006, I lived in Paris for 6 months and this run brought back all of the amazing memories from my Parisian life style. I ran under the Eiffel Tower on a beautiful sunny day!
2) It was my very first run after being cleared from a pelvic stress fracture. I fractured my pelvis training for my first marathon. While I had to put my goal of completing a marathon on hold, this run re-inspired me to continue chasing my goals.
3) This run reminded me how wonderful life is, and how important it is to seize so many opportunities around us. I came back from my vacation with a renewed sense of possibility and optimism. Never limit where running can take you!
My favorite vacation run was while my family and I were staying at an all-inclusive in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, a couple years ago. Running around the resort was a great way to scope out what the resort had to offer, while getting the extra challenge of running on sand!

I worked in Alaska for a summer 2 years ago- and while it wasn’t a true “vacation” I thought it was pretty amazing! Nothing can beat running through the mountains ( I even spotted a couple moose!) and it was great that the sun was up 24/7- it was always a perfect time to run!

My favorite vacation run was when I was in Chicago. I can totally see what the Chicago marathon is so popular, that city is very fun to run in.
Ireland! I’ve never been much of a “nature” person (I know, I know), or a vacation runner, but I couldn’t help but fall in love with those scenic, green landscapes. Amazing!

My favorite vacation run was on Nantucket this past summer. I’m usually pretty lazy on vacation and mostly get my exercise with lots of walking/hiking but since the marathon was coming up, I had to run. It was a great way to explore the island and see it from a different point of view!
My favorite vacation runs are always the ones that I do at the campground we stay at from March to October. We try to go every weekend. It is great to look at the lake and smell breakfast being cooked at all of the campsites.
My favorite vacation run was in Costa Rica 6 years ago. Running on the beach early in the morning, I was joined by the local children between catching the fish that they would sell that day. Huge iguanas would drop out of palm trees, and howler monkeys were in the trees by the hotel! I imagined that they were cheering me in
Tamarindo Beach is a magical place and I would love to go back!

My favorite vacation run took place at HLS11 in Philly.
it was the first time I ran with blogger friends in the midst of my SERIOUSLY training for a race. It felt awesome to be able to run near friends, see new sites in a city I’d never visited before, and feel myself REALLY push it during the run, especially the last half of a mile when we totally picked up the pace, sprinting the last bit to the hotel. Hmm…it’s been FOREVER since I’ve been on vacation, but I did have a few nice runs at the beach in the early morning a few years ago.

I’d say the following:
Columbia River, Portland Oregon
Anytime I’m in Florida on spring break
Santa Fe, New Mexico through the rail yard
In the middle of a triathlon in Rhode Island – all along the beach!
So grateful I get these opportunities!
My favorite vacation run what then my fiance and I went on a cruise two years ago. It was during Hurrican Earl and the ship was rocking side to side pretty good. With the treadmill facing the side of the ship it was like running rolling hills without actually doing anything. It was an adventure, so now I can say I ran in the ocean during a hurricane.

Best vacation run… there have been so many great ones! Last May my boyfriend took me to a bed and breakfast for our anniversary out in Bath County, VA… it’s in the middle of the George Washington National Forest and is the most beautiful and wonderful place on earth! I woke up early and ran the back country roads up, up, up into the mountains every morning we were there. Watching the sun rise from the top of a mountain you just ran up… there’s nothing else like it.
I’ve loved running on the beach
Definitely running on the beach, any beach
.
My favorite vacation workout has to be when I got all of my friends to join in with me for a Daily Burn circuit workout while we were all staying together at a beach house for a wedding. It was fun to introduce my friends to a new workout and you can’t beat looking at the ocean waves while you work out!
The best run was when when I was in new zealand over the christmas holiday staying at my parents house. They live 2 miles from the beach. I would run to the beach in the morning run another mile down the beach and then back to the house. Its was also summer there so it was nice to get some outdoor running in since I live in cleveland ohio and right now most of my running is on a treadmill right now.
Running in Oahu, Hawaii!
So cute! Mine was while visiting family in Ohio. I’m used to lots of hills, and I was so in love with the flat terrain.
My favorite vacation run was last year while on a crusie! I woke up around 5:30am and hit the deck that had a waking/running track.. Theres nothing quite like getting an early morning exercise in while watching the sunrise over the endless landscape of the beautiful Atlantic ocean!
Enjoy the rest of your honeymoon!!!
My favorite vacation run was a summer vaction to Montana – that wide open sky was so inviting!
My favorite run was on my honeymoon in Moorea. It wasn’t for the scenary – I was on a treadmill in a tiny “gym” if could even call it that! I had made it about 4 miles before my new husband was knocking on the window, with bottle of champagne in hand. Obviously, it did not take much convincing for me to end my run early and go join him on the beach for a cocktail!
I got a stress fracture last spring, so i finally got out of the walking boot the week before a trip to Hawaii. My first run outside (aka not on the treadmill) was along the beach in Waikiki. Best.Vacation.Run.Ever for so many reasons!!
my favorite vacation runs have been with my sister- we tend to stay clear of the beach but a beach location makes the scenery much better!
Running the Cooper River Bridge (now the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge – I just ignore the name change) in Charleston, SC is the best. Beautiful views, an incline to keep it challenging, and friendly of friendly faces!
Fave vacation run…Cape Cod. Beaches, country lanes, ponds, cute Main Streets…a little bit of everything.
2 vacation runs stand out, hawaii for the obvious reasons and TN in the rain along the riverside. Both glorious runs for competely different reasons!
i have a really bad track record of working out when im on vacation but I’d have to say a run along the beach in Cabo
My favorite vacation run was through Central Park in New York. I set out for a 3 miler but got distracted and did 6 instead!
Running in San Francisco – Nike Women’s Marathon
Last year I did my first marathon a week before our annual trip to Mexico. I took that week in between off from running and when I got to Mexico, I just ran on the beach and remembered what I love so much about running- perfect!
Favorite vacation run was something that was so the opposite of living in Florida — it was through the mountains of my homestate of Pennsylvania. I wasn’t much of a runner growing up so to return back to the roads I knew so well but to run them instead of biking or driving them was really special. It gave me some much needed time to enjoy some stillness and solitude around my favorite place on Earth — my late grandparents’ dairy farm!

My favorite vacation run was in Fiji this past summer! It was gorgeous weather and the scenery couldn’t have been better!
I had a great time running when I was on vacation in Cancun. Of course I ran a few times on the beach, but my favorite run was my long run in the city. There is something about being in an unfamiliar place that makes the miles melt away. It was so much fun to see all the different sites and interact a bit with the locals. I was impressed by how polite a group of local teens were when we had to pass each other on a narrow sidewalk.
Super cute skirt! My favorite running vacay memory is the run I did on the beach in Hawaii on Christmas Day in 2011. Hubby and I went to Oahu for Christmas that year…highly recommend it to you and Derek for any future destination Christmas’ you might be planning!

Went to a family reunion last fall in the North Georgia mountains. Got up early one day for a good 9-mile run. It is super pretty up there but the hills are no joke!
This year we visited New Orleans with my brother and sister in law. I absolutely love the city with the architecture and history. My sister in law and I were in training for our first 1/2 marathon later that fall…we took a run around the french quarter and it was awesome…the heat and the humidity made it a bit more challenging than running at home in Vermont but the views and the people we greeted along the way made up for that….not to mention sharing the experience with my sister in law.

My dad and I live in different cities, but we run together whenever we can. My favorite vacation run was with my dad, in Washington, DC, on a Thanksgiving morning. We ran around as many monuments and memorials as we could, and took a break at the Washington Monument. It was a clear, windy morning, and we could hear the flags flap in the wind while we rested. It was breathtaking.

My Hubby and I spend a lot of time on the island of Kauai. There is an awesome path along the east shore of the island. Thankfully its a short .5 mile run from where we stay!

I would have to say that my favorite run happened when I was on my honeymoon. My husband and I took a cruise and I loved running on the track around the ship. However I got violently ill shortly after the cruise started and was quarentined for two days. On our last day I had enough energy to run on the treadmill overlooking the ocean. It was so amazing to see!
Congrats again on your wedding and marriage! My favorite vacation runs always include water – a run on the beach, a run around a like, a run near a stream.

Fave runs are in the early morning while vacationing in the Florida Keys in February (I’m from Vermont and HATE running in cold weather!)
My best vacation run was in Central Park. I loved being in such an iconic location and surrounded by so many other runners.

I studied abroad in Amsterdam my last semester of college. I was facing graduation and trying to figure out what I was going to do so I would often go for a run to think and clear my head. I lived in the city center so when I would go out on a long run I would end up in the country out in the middle of nowhere. Windmills, tulips, and canals. It was amazing. Besides, I felt like an Olympian being able to run to the next town (because they are so close together!).

My favorite vacation run(s) took place at the beaches in Mexico! Hot, yes….but beautiful and serene and invigorating as well.
i love to run thru the woods along the water its awesome to see everything in wildlife
The beach. The sand makes for a great workout.
OH, my favorite place to run was in Maui – also when we were on our honeymoon. The problem was, well at least for me, since it was at the end of May, I had to run first thing in the AM before sunrise because the HEAT + HILLS, well, that was TROUBLE for me.
Congratulations on your wedding. Enjoy what’s left of your honeymoon.
Through the streets of San Francisco!
My favorite vacation was a trip to Ireland with my family in high school. It was my first time out of the country and I just loved every minute of the Irish culture!
The treadmills in Hawaii were one of my favorite places to run. The beaches near us were rocky & not ideal for running, but the views from the fitness center treadmills (overlooking the resort & beaches from the 2nd story level), were so picturesque and allowed you to enjoy the beautiful views without having to divert your eyes to keep from tripping!
Trail running in Jackson Hole, Wyoming! Such amazing views and no humidity!
My favorite “vacation” run was actually while I was volunteering in Uganda one summer! I would run on the dark, red, and dusty roads in town and get called the “crazy Mzungu” (crazy white person)! Most African people don’t run “for fun”! Anyway, the scenery was so beautiful, not the desert that most people think of! Picture lush mountains and the Nile River!
I’ve never gone anywhere really tropical or beachy, but I guess my favorite run was at Ft. Benning when I was visiting my husband!
My favorite vacation run was in Denver, CO. The scenery was just beautiful and I felt like the air was exceptionally clean and fresh. Just loved it!
My favorite runs are on the beach in Flordia where we vacation every year; unless it is super windy out and then I just walk and enjoy the view!
I went on an awesome run in the Bahamas about a year ago! It was great!!
Running on the beach in Hawaii. Heaven!!
It was probably either running on a 4 wheeler trail in Mid-Northern Alaska which was so gorgeous and quiet and rugged or running in one of the biggest parks in London…

I loved running with my mom last year in Vegas. We live far away from each other and don’t get to run together often, so it was nice to get that opportunity when we went to Vegas as a family. The best part was we both packed the same running outfit – black capris, gray t-shirt, and pink jacket. Now I know where I get my sense of style!
Favorite vacation run was along the water on Bainbridge Island (across the Sound from Seattle). It was absolutely gorgeous, and a great way to explore the town!
Beach run Hilton head island!!
My favorite vacation run was along VA beach! It was so relaxing, wish I could run on the beach everyday.
Hands down my favorite vacation run was around Oxford during my study abroad. The history and the scenery were just to die for and made the miles fly by! It wasn’t technically a vacation but it sure did feel like it during those miles!
My favorite beach run was last summer, an early morining run on Destin Beach, FL
My favorite vacation run was on a cruise ship! I didn’t sleep well the first night on the ship so I got up super early to run on the track that was built into one of the top decks. It was the windiest run of my life, but nothing compares to watching the sunrise in the middle of Atlantic Ocean. I also took my first spin class on that ship with a hot Australian instructor… needless to say no dry-land spin class has compared.
Favorite vacation run was on the beaches in my hometown, Coronado, CA! It’s just a beautiful beach, and the sunset, with the Hotel Del in the background, is just stunning!

Well…I’ve only been on one “vacation” since I’ve started running (and given birth to my child a year and a half ago) and it was to stay at my parents house. lol So I am going to say my DREAM vacation run would be on a Walt Disney World Cruise! Even if I did run on the treadmill…I would be on a Disney World Cruise! lol
Thanks for having the giveaway! And it looks like you had a ton if fun on your Honeymoon! Congratulations!!!
So glad you’re enjoying! I think my fav has been a riviera maya beach run!
I dont know if i can pick a favorite vacation run! I just love running on vacation- it makes the day of relaxing so much more enjoyable. One that stands out is when I was visiting Niagara Falls and found out they had a 1/2 marathon the next day (that ended at the falls). It was a beautiful run, gorgeous scenery, perfect temperatures and I was on vacation with my family!
Fave vacation spot to run is Oak Island, NC. We visit there often and I always love my early morning runs on the beach! It is the perfect way to start any day at the beach!
My favorite running spot is in the UP (during the summer) on trails in the forests. It is such a peaceful place to be in the summer, the trees swaying back and forth in the wind making a very unique sound and the birds singing all day long, it’s perfect.
I hope you continue to have lots of fun on your trip!
I’m one of those treadmill vacation runners–love it!

It sounds odd to choose a treadmill run as a favorite, but it was fun running on the cruise ship and watching the open water and waves.

I love running on the boardwalk at the Jersey shore! My craziest vacation run was probably in West Yellowstone, MT at 7,000 elevation last February with tons of snow on the ground!
A run on kiawah island beach in South Carolina… I just love how its hard packed sand so I can run for miles (unlike soft sanded beaches where half a mile in I am ready to turn around)
8 mile run in laie Hawaii was the best!!
I haven’t been a runner for long enough to have run on vacation!! However, I’m looking forward to travelling from the capital of Canada (where I live) to your capital to run the DC RnR half marathon in March. Honeymoon run with my sweetheart in Hawaii!
Well, haven’t had any extravagant vacations recently, and the closest I got to a run was scrambling up rocks with a pack on during my backpacking trip last summer. I went to the Trinity Alps in California for a week long backpacking adventure! It was amazing, and although I love a good run, ‘Packin’ all day with a 50+lb pack took me down to less than 5mph. But I would totally rock that skirt on my next run. I have a beach run comming up soon http://www.trinidadtoclambeach.com/ it’s an annual run that starts in scenic Trinidad, and crosses over Little River and ends with 3+ miles of just beach, it’s one of my favorite runs of all time.
Thanks,

I love running in St. Louis. I’ve been there a handful of times and have stayed downtown by the arch/riverfront. Every time the weather has been gorgeous, and the city has done a great job making a nice walking/jogging/running trail that runs along the river and more industrial areas.
I just started following your blog, I’m so jealous. It’s about -10 here where I live. I could use some sun.
I don’t travel much…I’m just too frugal….so, when I get a chance to get to Idaho Falls, ID I love to run near their waterway/falls. The mornings are quiet, the sound of the falls is calming, and the temps in the morning are perfect!!!
Mine has to be a run in Rome while I was studying abroad there one summer!

I just started running last year to train for my first 5k (I know, small potatoes to you marathon runners). My favorite vacation run was at my family’s cabin up in Florence, WI. I hit the dusty unpaved road and passed several deer and squirrels on my way–it was truly a nature-ful run!

. Running along the beach and city streets of Aruba….. Can not wait to do it again someday! Enjoy your honeymoon!
I was lucky enough to go on a work trip to Istanbul. I ran from the hotel at sunrise along the Bosphorus River that separates Europe from Asia. I was running by the Topkopi Palace of the sultan and ruler of the Ottoman Empire, on the European side, staring across the Bosphorus River at Asia. If the bridge were open to foot traffic, I could have run from Europe to Asia and back to Europe on a 3 miler from my hotel!!
My favorite so far was San Fran Nike Half- course was beautiful, a lot of fun. Even the hills were fun.
My favorite vacation run was in Aruba with my friends on my friends wedding day. Post run we all bum rushed it into the hotel pool…amazing!
My favorite vacation run was running in Hawaii along Kalakaua Avenue. So many people, stores, and views to look at. I never got bored!
My favorite vacation run was a sunrise run in the mountains in Maine – so beautiful!
On the beach on Cape Cod, great sea breeze and beautiful views
The path along the Potomac River in DC. There is truly no more peaceful or beautiful place!
My favorite vacation run is on a cruise ship on the track around the sun deck on the “at sea” days.

Running along beach road in the Outer Banks. I love stopping, crossing the dunes to watch the dolphins for awhile, then getting back to running…!
I haven’t been on many vacations since I started running. My two most memorable would have been 7 miles on the treadmill in Chicago (it was my first 7 miler and I was proud of myself for doing it on vacation) and a 14 miler on curvy windy roads in Arkansas (probably also my stupidest run).

Loved running during my time in D.C. last summer and going to all the monuments (:
Siesta Key Beach, Florida. Beautiful beaches with the most incredible white sand. So jealous that you live in Florida. There really is something very magical about beach running in the early morning.
Windmill-dotted mountains of southern Spain to the North, a view of Morocco to the South, 40 minutes on the beach in Tarifa with a dear friend in a perfect moment in my life and almost twelve years later I can still remember almost the entirety of our conversation verbatim. Thanks for jogging my memory today (no pun intended). And congratulations/best wishes to you and Derek!
Boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach, DE. LOVE it!!!!

I live in Mass, so every time I go down the Cape during the summer I run along their bike trail. It’s so pretty and flat (compared to everywhere else in New England!) It runs pretty much all the way up the arm of the Cape, so no matter where you are you can always catch a few miles of it. Have fun on your honeymoon!
I had a great run through the woods on our family camping trip. With 3 little ones it always goes best when I rise as the sun comes up and they are sleeping.

Chicago! Even though I face planted.
I ran with my boyfriend along the Mississppi River levees at Oak Alley Plantation. The sun was low and it was warm. A great beginning to our New Orleans / Louisiana trip.

One of my most memorable runs was on a cruise ship in the Pacific between Mexico and California. The water was really choppy, but I was determined to get my run in, so I hopped on the treadmill. Thanks to the bobbing of the ship, I actually felt like I was running hills, and I occasionally had to grab the handrails to steady myself. While I wouldn’t want every run to be as rolling, it was an interesting way to break up the monotony of a treadmill run! (Thank goodness I don’t get seasick!)
One of my favorite runs was in NYC on vacation with my mother last spring!
Definitely running through the woods in Germany. I used to live outside of Cologne on the edge of a huge forest, so many of my mornings would start with a run along wooded trails, open fields and hilly country side. Sehr schรถn!

My gosh, on the North Shore in Oahu @ the Turtle Bay resort! They had 12 miles of private coastline trails!! I wish I was there right now
My favourite race on a vacation was the Disney Wine and Dine 1/2 Marathon last November. My favourite not race run would have to been on the Norwegian Sky on a Bahamas Cruise in Dec 2011. I loved running on the running deck, even though I tended to do so at night!

My best vacation run was overlooking Biscayne Bay at sunrise on a treadmill at J.W. Marriott in Miami. Beautiful hotel and gorgeous view!
My favorite vacation run was this past November in Boston. I didn’t have much time for sight seeing because I was at a conference, but I got up early one morning to see as much of the city on foot as I could. I got in about six miles, and probably could have gone on forever if I didn’t have to get back to present. It was absolutely wonderful. He’s been a runner since he was in his 20′s and I have only seriously worked out for the last few years (I ran off and on between years of smoking) so it’s always a treat – we’ve even done a couple of Thanksgiving day races the last 2 years. Jealous of you, as I’m benched right now with a fracture…I’m reading MnM to “run vicariously” through you, for now! My favorite run was during my autumn vacation in coastal Alaska. I’d finish a late supper, lace up my sneakers and set off to enjoy the most piquant, sweet little ride amongst quaking Aspens and black spruce along the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, right on the Gulf of Alaska. Across the water, the entire evening skyline of Anchorage would reverberate in a rainbow of colors, awash across the water.Occasionally, a Moose would meander across the trail (one night, with her calf!). There were a few nights where I was forunate enough to glimpse the reverberating silvery-green swirls of the Aurora Borealis, dancing in muted flames across the sky. I will NEVER forget it! It was the most exhilarating week of my life, and the most enchanting running destination I’ve ever experienced. Amazing.
Some of my favorite running memories are from the semester I spent abroad in Barcelona. There was one route I would take about once a week down a main road that led to the beach which was my absolute favorite. It was neat to watch the locals go about their day and then end up at the water before heading back.
Beach, beach, beach! Usually the beach we visit is in the Outer Banks, NC…lovely!

I love running skirts. This one sounds like a good choice for me. My favorite vacation run has to be along a river in Fort Worth, Texas. Despite the humidity, the area was beautiful!

My favorite run was in the mountains in Arizona where my fiance proposed!
In Boston with my husband! We were visiting family
My favorite run during a vacation was through the parks for the Disney Princess Half Marathon. Yes, I was on vacation because of the race, but it was the best 13.1 miles ever!
I think one of my favorite runs has to be in San Francisco – all I wanted to do was run to the Golden Gate Bridge – wound up being a half marathon trek there and back but it was one of the most beautiful runs I had been on and those miles flew by!

Running on the beach in Mexico!
Around the reservoir in Central Park in NYC! It was fantastic!
My favorite vacay run was when I went to visit a friend in Lakewood Colorado last June. It sky was crazy blue and the mountain backdrops were stunning. The crisp air was so invigorating and it was one of my fastest runs in a long time.
My favorite run was on a beach in Australia.
On the beach in Florida
I’d love to run in Central Park–NYC! The last time I was visiting, I was very new to running. Looks like fun with lots of people watching to pass the miles.
Would love to try that cool skirt.
Congrats on your marriage and happiness always!
The beach in Avalon, NJ. Heaven.
My favorite was a 6-miler with my husband on our 10th anniversary trip to Olympic National Park in Washington. We rarely get a chance to run together!

Ran with my sister at the beach in ocean city New Jersey. Went there for weekend to see my son at the drumline competition. Never saw the competition, but had a great weekend with my 2 sisters and my mother.
Early morning on the beach watching the sunrise.
My favorite is along the boardwalk at our local beach.
All of my vacay runs have been for races so I would like to say Seattle has been my fave so far.

My favorite vacation run was on the Pacific Ocean aboard a cruis ship on our way Mexico!!
i have recently started running, so i don’t have a favorite vacation run yet, but i know i will enjoy running on the beach once summer gets here again
My favorite run was probably the semester I spent in London. My friend and I would run through Kensington Park. Second favorite was running along the river in Philadelphia – I live in UT so coming down 4000 feet in elevation made for a fun and fast run by all the boat houses!
I went to Aruba with a dear friend this past June and ran on a treadmill looking out the windows on the water – delightful!
My favorite vacation run was on a 1 night girls getaway with friends! We all love to workout, but I forgot shorts, and one friend forgot any workout stuff whatsoever, including tennis shoes! But we all woke up at 6am to go on a run, me in my pj pants and 5 months pregnant, and my other friend in her pajamas and flip flops!!!! We laughed the whole time as our other friends made fun of us, but it was super fun and a great memory!
At school, I would travel at least once a year for pep band. Getting lots of free time meant we could all finally work out without having to worry about classes and homework, so I’d enjoy the treadmill while people watching, especially in Louisville, KY where the gym was on the first floor

I went on a great beach run two summers ago! It maybe wasn’t the best workout since it ended when we started freaking out about a giant dead jellyfish, but like I said, fun!
My favorite vacation run was along W Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz, CA. The beautiful shore with breaking waves on one side, multi-million dollar houses on the other!
In Italy we stayed at a villa in Tuscany surrounded by farms. Running there was spectacular!
Hilton Head run – I found a flat trail that lead right to the beach and knew that afterward was a bike ride to great PANCAKES with my family and loved ones
I went to NYC recently and ran in Central Park in 30 degree weather.I t was rough for this Florida girl but it was so beautiful!

I’m a first time mom still trying to figure out how to balance time enough to get out and run. ANY time or place that can happen is always like a mini vacation!

My favorite vacation run would have to be a toss-up between running on the beach in Barcelona and running in New York City. Although I had a pretty spectacular run in Florence once too…tough call! Running is such an amazing way to explore new cities.
I haven’t been on a vacation since I’ve started running seriously
Makes you want to send me that running skort huh?

Love running at the beach…We don’t travel far from home with our little ones. But heading out on RT 12 in the Outer Banks, NC has help me shed some pounds as I sweat it out along the coastal highway. Love the sounds of the waves as I run.
