After taking a week off from CrossFit (I would have returned yesterday but the holiday hours were still in effect), I couldn’t wait to get back to the box this morning.
Apparently I was only one of a few who couldn’t wait to dive back in. The class before ours had three people and ours had a grand total of two. Oh well, nothing wrong with a small class – just think of it as a private lesson.
We focused on the power snatch again this morning and kept our weight light so we could focus on form. It was one of those rare WODs where our form improved with sets instead of depleting.
The second part of our WOD (the AMRAP) was tough. The three moves didn’t look hard on the board, but I was wiped after one round. The repetitive box jumps and tuck jumps did a number on my feet. All the pounding caused them to swell up and I had to shake them out between reps so I could stop them from going numb. Once the WOD was over, the only thing I could do was take my shoes off to give them room to swell and recover. They were still shaking when I left to drive home.
It was chilly this morning – a bowl of oatmeal was definitely in order.
For the oats:
- 1/3 cup rolled oats
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk
- vanilla whey protein powder
- almond buter
- fruit salad
