I woke up needing a good stretch and Maddie needed a good walk (it’s safe to say she has fully recovered from her busy weekend, she was bouncing off the walls full of energy this morning!). So we tackled a walk together first (covering a little more than a mile and a half), then I got my stretch on with the 20 minute Yoga for Runners podcast from YogaDownload.com. My legs were TIGHT. I’m definitely in need of a little more yoga in my life, and perhaps a post-race massage? 😉
Eggs, the breakfast of champions.
I’ve really been digging omelets with avocado lately. It’s a great mix of protein and healthy fats, which also makes it very filling. I ended up adding a spoonful of salsa to the omelet after the photo was taken to take the yumminess factor from an 8 to a 10. 🙂

The plan for the rest of the week is to take it easy before Miami. I’ll do a bike ride and light run to loosen up my legs, but that’s pretty much it. Last night’s heavy leg and shoulder swim workout was probably a little more than I should have done, but my coach gave me the all clear and I trust his opinion. On another note I accidentally left my goggles at practice and need to remember to get them before I leave on Saturday. I’m not sure how fun it would be to show up on race day without them. I’ve had nightmares that involve that situation and I always wake up in a panicked sweat afterwards. Gulp.
Have you ever forgotten anything big on race day?
I’ve forgotten to charge my Garmin or my iPod before hand, but I can’t say I’ve ever left anything behind. *knock on wood*
