Derek’s alarm went off 15 minutes earlier than usual this morning. When I asked him why that was, he told me he wanted the satisfaction of pressing snooze a couple of times before he really had to get up. That made me laugh. This was his way of sticking it to the man. Or, you know, sticking it to the alarm clock. 😉
Are you a “snoozer”?
I usually set my alarm for the minute I have to get up (without any wiggle room), but there are occasions when the snooze button and I are BFFs.
However, there was no snooze for me this morning; I like to get an early start on mornings that I go to the gym. The drive there and back is already a time killer (about 10-15 minutes each way) so sleeping in really isn’t an option.
Once I made it to the gym, I hopped on the treadmill and took a slow jog at a gentle climb (kept 6.0 pace while raising treadmill every few minutes from 1.0 all the way to 5.0). I think I covered roughly 2.5 miles total. After the treadmill, I did Workout A from Women’s Health Wedding Workout.
Breakfast was something that’s been on my mind all week.
I’d like to give a big “Welcome Back” to the Pumpkin Spice Smoothie
Man. I forgot how good these are!
- 1/2 cup pumpkin
- 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon flax seed
- drizzle of honey
- pumpkin spice
- 1.5 cups of milk (add more as needed)
- 2 tablespoons raisins
Place everything in blender and blend until smooth.
The raisins were a new addition. I thought they added a little texture and extra sweetness to the smoothie. I also usually make them with vanilla yogurt, but we’re out. I was worried it wouldn’t turn out, but still tasted great. So happy fall is here and pumpkin stuff is back in season. I’m already counting down the days until I can make this again.
On the side I toasted a leftover waffle and smeared it with strawberry jelly and walnuts.
A perfect breakfast.
