Bike tires are officially pumped and ready to go!
Bonus points that I was able to fix the flats all by myself. I’ve sure come a long way from last year when it took me three days, a youtube video, and two separate people to help me fix the flat. Progress, right?
I should have hopped right on the bike and took it for a test run, but pure laziness took over. One thing at a time! I have two cycling dates this week, so I plan to put the tires to the test then. For now I’m just happy that they’re fixed. Let the cycling training begin! Woo hoo!
I rewarded my tire fixing efforts with an omelet for lunch.
Don’t judge – Derek is the omelet maker in our house. At least I tried. 😉
I whisked a spoonful of pesto with two eggs (best idea ever) and poured it over some onions, sun dried tomatoes, olives, and spinach that I had sauteed in some olive oil. Once the egg was set, I dropped spoonfuls of goat cheese on one side and (attempted) to fold it over. It was basically last night’s pizza – minus the crust and shrimp – in omelet form.
Not the prettiest omelet on the block, but that didn’t stop it from being the tastiest.
On the side I had some lightly roasted carrots.
It was the closest I could get to potatoes since we were out. Eh. Not the same. Good, just not the same.
Derek was helping a friend move today, so I had some time to kill. Oh, what’s a girl to do with 4 blissful hours to herself? Shop!
Loft had 30% off today! I bought all three dresses (I promise the middle dress looks better in the proper size). Love all the bright colors currently out for summer! I’m attracted to all things orange, yellow, and pink!
I grabbed a strawberry smoothie from my favorite Smoothie/Juice Bar in the running store in the mall
And soaked up the sunshine outside while drinking my smoothie and reading “50 Shakes Darker”. I’m happy to report that the storyline DOES get better in the second book and has pulled me in so much more than the first one. I also like that there aren’t as many – umm – graphic intimate scenes. One every chapter isn’t bad, 3-4 every chapter was getting a little boring. I’m only 100 e-pages from the ending now. I’m hoping to finish it tonight or tomorrow!
My old college roommate, Becca, invited me to her “Tampa Bay Ladies Supper Club” this evening. It’s a club she recently started to explore restaurants in the Tampa Bay area with friends. You know me, I’m always down to try a new restaurant! Especially one that’s already on my “must try” list. Tonight’s restaurant (Ella’s Americana Folk Art Cafe) has been on that list for a while.
Ella’s is located in the Seminole Heights area of Tampa and is known as an eclectic foodie’s paradise. They only take reservations for parties of 8 or more, so the wait can get a bit crazy on the weekends. We had 7 and just missed the 8 person cut-off. The place is a lot bigger than I thought it was and had a nice bar to wait by. I was disappointed by the lack of beers on draft (only 3? really?), and instead ordered a Cigar City Maduro from the bottle.
This is my go-to beer of choice in Tampa. I feel like it’s all I ever order, but it’s my favorite.
We were seated after roughly 45 minutes and were escorted to our table in the loft-ish area upstairs.
The menu was amazing. I actually had a sneak peek at the kitchen as we were waiting to be seated and everything that passed by looked and smelled good. My stomach was grumbling and I was ready for food!
It was the burger page that really reeled me in. Particularly the Wino Burger.
Oh, yes. yes. yes.
The “bacon apple jam”? Umm.. yeah. Mouthwatering. Totally made the burger. Can I have more now, please? pretty please?
The sweet potato fries may or may not have been why I stuck with the burger page. I saw too many of these puppies pass me by – I had to try them. The fries were salty, not sweet, which I 100% prefer. I’m not a huge fan of sweetened sweet potato fries. These were more herby and spicy. They were perfect with ketchup.
The girls ordered a banana/ peanut butter/ chocolate churro with ice cream dish that looked and sounded delicious. If it didn’t have banana, I would have been all over it.
Thank you for including me in the group tonight, Becca!! I’m so happy I was finally able to dine at Ella’s – totally lived up to the hype! I will be back.
Now I’m full, sleepy, and have a mystery 5k to run in the morning.
