2012 Danskin Triathlon Series Giveaway

by Meghann on May 4, 2012

Hey Guys!

I’m having some technical difficulties with my internal SD card reader this morning. For some reason it doesn’t want to read the card and I’ve learned in situations like this that it’s best to walk away rather than stress over it. This isn’t the first time I’ve had this problem and I’m hoping it will work itself out later. *fingers crossed* However, I did want to check in and say Kelly and I are currently high in the sky and on our way to good ole Cincinnati. Yay!

We did cut it close this morning with making it to the airport, but luckily we didn’t have any bags to check and security was a breeze. We were able to grab some egg and cheese bagel sandwiches and arrived at our gate just as our zone was boarding. Cutting it close or perfect timing? We’ll let you be the judge. ;)

I may not have any photos to share, but I do have a giveaway that I hope makes up for it! ;)

2012 Danskin Triathlon Series Giveaway

logo.jpeg

The Danskin Triathlon Series is made up of 8 sprint distance triathlons (½ mile swim, 12 mile bike, 3 mile run) across the country that empower women by challenging them in a motivational, supportive, and safe setting with “cheerleaders” every step of the way. Select Races offer a Super Sprint distance option. Participation can be on an individual or Relay Team basis – making them even more first-timer friendly.

group.jpg

I’m not sure what it is, but for some reason triathlons feel 10x more intimidating that regular road races. I know when I checked-in at the start of my first triathlon, my stomach was full of butterflies. I felt like I was the only newbie in a crowd of seasoned veterans. Everyone looked like they knew what they were doing and I didn’t have a clue.

The goal of the Danskin Triathlon Series is to strip that intimidation factor a way. They foster a “girl power” environment that encourages first timers that they CAN do this. The race is about setting a personal goal, accomplishing that goal, and celebrating that accomplishment with your fellow competitors. I like that.

DSCN2740.JPG

Whether you’ve always wanted to do a triathlon or are looking to do your second, third, fourth, or more – this is the race for you!

AND I just happen to have one free entry to an upcoming Danskin Triathlon race to giveaway to one Meals and Miles reader that’s up for the challenge!

The free entry is good for one of the following races in the series:

  • June 3 – Austin, TX
  • July 22 – Webster, MA (greater Boston area)
  • August 5 – Howell, MI
  • August 19 – Seattle, WA
  • August 26 – Chicagoland
  • September 9 – Sandy Hook, NJ
  • October 7 – Palm Springs, CA

To enter just leave a comment below with an active goal you have for yourself this summer. You have until Monday morning, when I will draw a random winner in my morning post.

Good Luck!

I have yet to enter into the Tri world, but I’ll be running my second marathon with you on Sunday! :)

After that, I’m transitioning to a focus on some serious strength training this summer – high weights, low reps, SHOW ME DEM MUSCLES! kind of training. It’s WAY out of my comfort zone, so I don’t have a specific goal yet, but I’ll be working with my personal trainer on setting some realistic goals once we figure out where I am, and I’m so excited to tackle a new challenge!

I’d LOVE to add a triathlon to my goal list! :)

I’ve lost 40 pounds since October! I gained weight while I was in an abusive relationship and after calling my wedding off-I started running and the weight peeled off. My goal this summer is to keep the weight off and keep running! It’s my therapy.
I would have never survived without it. I did my first half marathon in march and I’m hooked-completing a triathlon is next on my list! Another goal is to rock a bikini this summer

May active goal is to run my second half-marathon this year and to PR it. I ran a half and a 30k last year, but after that I stopped running because A.) I was switching jobs and didn’t get to the gym as much, and B.) It was winter and I hate the cold.

I’m starting from scratch again, so I’m excited to build up my mileage again and hopefully run injury-free this season :D

My goal for the summer is continue and complete my weight lifting program and to stick to my marathon training for the Walt Disney World Marathon in Jan. 2013. I never completed a weight training program before always kinda winged it but I’m getting married August 17, 2013 and want to look toned in my strapless dress. For the marathon, I knew it’s a long way off but I need to ease my way back into running to prevent my ankle and back problems from flaring up.

Good luck on your race this weekend. I love your blog. It really makes me motivated to continue my running.

My summer goal is to PR at my next half marathon :) I want to try and get sub two hours (my last half time was 2:01). I’m also starting to prepare for my first full marathon! It’s in Baton Rouge! I’ve ALWAYS wanted to do a triathalon so maybe now’s my chance!

My goal this summer is to actually use the pool at my gym-and then swim at the beach! I would love to do a triathalon-just finished my second half marathon, and I’m doing the Reach the Beach relay in 2 weeks!

This couldn’t come at a more perfect time! I’ve always wanted to complete a triathlon – but currently don’t own a road bike (I spin a lot, but that’s a different beast). My goal this summer is to purchase one and road bike more often! Just have to save up money for the purchase first :) Hard to do with all these race entries….

I really enjoy your blog and think its cool that you are giving away the danskin entry! This summer I will compete and complete my very first triathlon. I am racing the NYC Olympic TRI in July! My goal after that will be to get involved in as many sprints and olympics distant races as possible…then onto the half iron and eventually a full! Keep the posts coming!!!

My goal for this summer is to start and FINISH the Insanity workout program. I’m starting it after I finish 30-Day Shred this month!

I did the relay tri in Chicagoland last year and would love to do it on my own this year! My active goal this summer is to put in more miles on my bike!

Viva! My wish is to bring my 16 year old niece up from Florida for the first time and enlist her to “do ” the tri with me – she is my departed cousin’s daughter, the lovely Vivian, who is full of life and is game for trying her first TRI!
( I am an “old timer” pushing 54 and still TRI ing! Getting better every year… )
