I guess third time’s a charm for 2013? Maybe? Fingers crossed?
NYC is one of the top marathons on my bucket list. I know that I WILL run this race. Someday.
My original plan was the register for the NYC marathon for 2012 whether I won the lottery or not (through a charity). However, with wedding planning, the fact that I’m already going to NYC in August for BlogHer, and the fact that I already registered to volunteer at the Florida Ironman for the same date – I’m starting to think twice about it. hmmm… I’ll have to mull this one over.

After hosting the LUNA Fiber giveaway yesterday, it was nice to have the chance to try one this afternoon for a snack. (The box of bars arrived on my doorstep yesterday)
I tried the Peanut Butter Strawberry bar and was impressed with how good it was. It tasted like a soft peanut butter cookie with just a hint of strawberry jam. I was afraid the strawberry filling would be overpowering, but it was just right and complemented the soft peanut butter cookie perfectly.
I was a fan and would definitely eat it again. Can’t wait to try the other flavors and see how they compare!
I almost ditched out on swim practice this afternoon – I even had a pre-written tweet ready to go with some lame excuse on wanting to try a yoga class instead. Then I read the tweet and realized how ridiculous I sounded. Was I really going to ditch out of my second group swim for something else after I already told them I would be there? How rude!
I deleted the tweet, put my swimsuit on, and headed out the door. Yoga would be there tomorrow – today, I swim.
As soon as I got there, I was so happy I made the effort to go. There were only three of us today and we took it easy with an emphasis on tweaking our strokes (lots of paddle work – ow) and fine tuning our turns. Unfortunately the coach finally realized I haven’t been flip turning (oops) and highly recommended I work on it for next week. I’ve only ever attempted flip turns in the water once (with Courtney coaching me) over a year ago. Flip turns scare the crap out of me (I can see myself accidentally smashing into the wall). Gulp. I know I need to learn them, and I just need to put my big girl panties on and go for it.
New goal: have flip turns mastered by the end of next week.
I stopped at Whole Foods on the way home and picked up a quick dinner.
I called ahead and told Derek to pre-heat the oven so I could immediately put the pizza in the oven as soon as I got home.
10 minutes after walking in the door… pizza was ready. 🙂
Derek and I split the personal pizza and a container of Beef and Barley Stew that I also picked up from Whole Foods and reheated on the stovetop while the pizza baked.
The spinach, walnut, blue cheese, and garlic pizza was good. Really good. Derek said it was weird (probably referring to the blue cheese on the pizza) and reminded him of something I would have thrown together (it should be noted he finished his whole half of the pizza). He’s probably right, but it’s good to know I’m not the only one out there who puts weird combinations together. Thank you, Whole Foods. 😉
The stew was delicious as well, but nothin’ special.
I had an Attune Mint Chocolate Bar for dessert.
