Three years ago today I had one too many hurricanes with this guy that I was ‘just friends’ with.
You can read all about that night on this post, but I thought I would share a fun story from that night that didn’t make it on the blog.
That sweet couple we met?
Well, I wasn’t lying – they were sweet and pretty hilarious. The whole night they kept asking if we were a couple and we would respond with the automatic ‘just friends’ remark. They would nod their heads and go ‘suuurrreee you are’ before predicting we would get married one day.
(side note: man, my hair was blonde then)
We all laughed. Derek and I weren’t even officially dating – marriage? They’re funny.
Once my initial drink was empty, I ordered another one, as did my tablemates. They thought it would be fun to continue to refill my drink with one of their extras when I wasn’t looking. My glass always looked like it was half full, so I had no idea how much I was drinking and, without realizing it, I had finished three full glasses of Pat O’Brien Hurricanes in the span of a couple of hours. The rest of the night got a little fuzzy after that.
I do have snapshot memories of kissing Derek that night and hearing the couple exclaim, “See! You guys are sooo getting married!” Nope. Pretty sure that was just the hurricanes talking. Or so I thought. 😉
I wonder where that couple is now. I would love to extend an invitation their way to the wedding they predicted before Derek and I did.
And, as luck would have it, you’ll never guess what I found buried in my folder of the photos from that night.
They’re number! Maybe I’ll get to send that invitation after all. 😉
Three years ago Derek and I were just friends drinking at a bar and singing at the top of our lungs to songs I can’t remember with people I still can’t place the names of. Three years ago those strangers saw a spark and predicted an engagement that both of us couldn’t see.
Today, we’re planning our wedding.
Crazy how life works out sometimes, right? 😉
I was at the gym this morning for a speed session on the treadmill. 6 x .5 @ 8.0 with a .5 rest @6.5 in between. Burn baby, burn.
Cereal made an appearance for breakfast.
- 1/2 cup Kashi Cinnamon Go Lean Crisp <– just bought it. so good!
- 1/2 cup Quaker Oatmeal Squares
- Plain Chobani
Instead of granola, I’ve been topping my cereal bowls with walnuts. It add a nice flavor while still providing that needed crunch. Plus the extra hit of protein and omega-3s doesn’t hurt either. 😉
What were you doing three years ago today?
