Pop Up

by Meghann on January 17, 2012

This month I’ve partnered with Orville Redenbacher’s for their Smart Snacking campaign.

Did you know…

  • Just three cups of Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn provides an entire serving of whole grain
  • One serving of SmartPop! has two servings of whole grains
  • Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn provides three times more fiber per 1-ounce serving than other snack foods, such as pretzels or potato chips

True story.

So, yeah. Popcorn is full of whole grains, fiber, and yadda, yadda, ya BUT want to know what’s really cool? Pop Up Bowls!

I’ve seen the commercials for the new Pop Up Bowls and was super excited when Orville Redenbacher’s sent me a couple of boxes to test out. Probably more excited than I should have been. I’m sure Maddie really didn’t care when I opened the package and proudly showed her the cool new find.

I couldn’t wait to put the pop up bowl to the test. There were no special instructions, just place the bag in the microwave and press the popcorn button as usual.

Ding! Popcorn is done!

The Pop Up Bowl was so cool! Obviously I’m easily impressed. Don’t mind me and my stand up bowl.

I do have one teeny tiny complaint. The plastic top wasn’t easy to pull away. I had to take a pair of scissors to it to cut it, which wasn’t a big deal ( scissors were nearby), but not something I was expecting.

The pop up bowl of popcorn was the perfect snack to enjoy while I was working since it stood up so nice next to my computer on the desk. Also, bonus points for not needing to dirty a bowl. ๐Ÿ™‚

Are you easily amused too? Please tell me i’m not the only one!

Derek and I kept it light and easy for dinner tonight.

I picked up some pre-seasoned catfish fillets from Publix that cooked under the broiler for 5 minutes per side. The seasoning was in need of salt, but it formed a nice crust under the broiler.

On the side I sauteed zucchini and yellow squash with fresh dill and garlic (LOVE this combo!) and a steam-in-a-bag of brown rice (proof of how lazy I’ve become in the kitchen).

A small bowl of dark chocolate covered edamame with cherries and strawberries for dessert.

Maddie is waiting to snuggle.

Derek is too.

Good Night!

A Potential Venue

January 17, 2012

Last night I was showing my Mom some photos of this gorgeous ranch I found outside of Tampa that I love as a potential wedding venue. It’s rustic, it’s adorable, and I could totally see Derek and I saying ‘I Do’ under this big beautiful oak tree they perform the ceremonies under. I’ve petty much more ยป

Healthy As A Horse

January 17, 2012

Good news! My blood work was ‘near perfect.’ Woo hoo! Cholesterol is good (140!), blood sugar is good, electrolytes are good, triglycerides are good, and what-ever else she said are all good. I believe the phrase is ‘healthy as a horse’? ๐Ÿ˜‰ There was one teeny, tiny blip on my test results in reference to more ยป
