After five relaxing nights aboard the Carnival Inspiration, it was time to say good-bye to blue seas, unlimited meals, and two hour long afternoon naps.
It was fun cruise! Until we meet again!
I’ll do a full review on my final cruise thoughts sometime tomorrow or next week. After spending an hour talking to my sister, I realized I have a lot to say on the subject. The cruise was just what Derek and I needed and I’m happy to return home feeling very relaxed and well rested. Loved it.
Unfortunately, my last night aboard the ship was a little restless. I caught a cold the final night that made it hard to breathe while I slept. I woke up multiple times during the night, constantly throwing the covers on and off as I went from freezing one minute to sweating the next. Not cool.
All I can say is I’m glad the cold came on the last night and not the first. That would have been very uncool. Blah.
My very last meal aboard the Carnival Inspiration was a bowl of oatmeal with raisins, nuts, blueberry compote, and peanut butter. The perfect ‘I feel sick’ comfort food.
Along with some grapefruit and a carrot muffin.
And more fruit (gotta get some vitamin c in there!)
Debarkation went really smoothly. Derek and I were able to wait in our room until our number was called and were in and out of customs with no problems. The whole process probably took 10-15 minutes tops.
The best part was that – since we sailed out of Tampa – Derek’s brother was able to pick us up from the port and take us right home. We saved money on both gas and parking; and Derek’s brother got a nice bottle of rum out of the deal.
We decided to stay in ‘vacation mode’ since Derek has the rest of the week off work. Let’s call it our vacation from our vacation. 😉 We came home, started unpacking, and began to catch up on our 99% full DVR. We went from laying by the pool to laying on our couches in 12 hours or less. 😉
When lunchtime rolled around I realized we had zero food in the fridge, but there was a frozen pizza in the freezer.
Not exactly ‘fancy lunch,’ but it worked. 😉
Post grocery shopping (and picking Maddie up!!) I had a snack of apple sauce with granola and almond butter.
For dinner, I baked my first spaghetti squash of the season.
I haven’t made one of these in a year and I forgot how easy and tasty they are. Just cut it in half, roast for 30 minutes at 425, and you are done.
I shredded the squash and added it to a pan with a can of black beans, diced tomatoes, and lots of shredded cheese. The end result was a quick mexican themed take on spaghetti.
Only one dessert this evening. Dark chocolate.
No melting chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream? Man, vacation really is over!
I’m also still dreaming of the unlimited rolls and multiple courses. Dining in my kitchen just isn’t the same.
What do you always miss when you return from vacation? I miss having someone else clean my room and make my bed. Now, THAT was something I could get used to and never grow tired of!
