LA Bound

Greetings from high in the sky!

IMG_0564.JPG

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged from an airplane. Last year I felt like I was blogging from a different one every week! I sooo do not miss that. Unfortunately my schedule looks like it’s leaning towards that same crazy travel schedule this coming month.

I’m currently on my way to Los Angeles to attend the Dole Blogger Summit (with a couple of extra days attached to the front to see my long lost twin brother), then I fly straight to Savannah to run the marathon on Saturday (that will be a fun flight/run). After the marathon I’m hitching a ride to my parents’ house with my little brother where I’ll rent a car to take me back to Tampa.

Did you get all that? Oh, it gets better.

Next Saturday I’ll be in Tallahassee for a wedding, the following Monday I’ll be heading to South Carolina for a work thing, the weekend after that I’ll be in Orlando for my little brother’s birthday, the weekend after that is Thanksgiving, and, finally, the first weekend in December I’ll be in Vegas running the half marathon.

I get dizzy just thinking about it. How did my travel schedule fill up so quickly?

Hopefully I’ll get back to my frequent-traveler-packing roots because I failed miserably this afternoon. I lost track of time catching up on work stuff from the weekend and ended up just re-packing a lot of the items I just unpacked and loaded in the wash. At least having everything already divided made it easy?

Packing snacks included roasted pumpkin seeds and a graham cracker with apple sauce.

Dinner was a packed meal that I (thankfully) remembered to throw together at the last minute.

Wraps are my favorite go-to travel food. You don’t have to worry about them getting squished, they’re easy to make, and all you have to do is peel the foil back and you’re good to go – no utensils required!

All of the above can be said for apples too.

The package of Justin’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups wasn’t exactly the Kit Kat Bar I had my heart set on, but they were already in my fridge ready to go. I’ll have to track down a Kit Kat bar soon though!

IMG_0574.JPG

My flight was slightly delayed before take off, but the team did a great job boarding us in a timely matter.

The good news is I scored a row of seats all to myself – Yes!

IMG_0567.JPG

The bad new is none of them recline – boo.

I’m going to save my $14.95 for inflight internet and wait to publish this until I land on the west coast.

See ya in LA!

My little trick-or-treater

Trick or Treat!

IMG_0532.JPG

New plan: I’m dressing Maddie up and taking her trick-or-treating tonight. I figured it would be the same deal as having a human two year old – she gets all the ‘awwwws’ for being so darn cute and I get to keep all the candy. Win-win. ;)

I’m kidding!

I won’t even be here when the sun goes down tonight and I recently discovered that Maddie has a slight fear of pumpkins.

IMG_0528.JPG IMG_0530.JPG

At first I couldn’t get her to sit, then she walked over and curled up in my lap instead. Maybe my pumpkin is scary after all? Or maybe I’m the scary one?

IMG_0531.JPG

Poor Maddie!

Are you taking any trick-or-treaters out this evening?! Or are you expecting them to knock on your door?!

I wish we had some trick-or-treaters to look forward to in our neighborhood, but we’re surrounded by retirees. Bummer. There goes my excuse to buy candy for the ‘trick-or-treaters.’ Derek already saw past that plan and vetoed it. How rude. I want candy! Maybe they’ll be giving some out at the airport tonight?! Or I’ll just purchase my own grown up Kit Kat for the plane ride. ;)

Lunch!

IMG_0519.JPG

I heated up the very last bit of my (very delicious) Butternut Squash Soup from Saturday night.

IMG_0521.JPG

This is one of those instances where the soup tastes better now than it did the night it was made. It was a lot thicker today and the flavors really intensified overnight. I am especially in love with the pieces of parsnip in the soup, it’s a nice spicy vegetable that really contrasts with the sweet squash and apple (in a good way). Yum.

Served with a nice piece of cornbread.

I’m running late! My flight for Los Angeles is at 7:00pm tonight and I haven’t packed a thing! Yikes!

Happy Halloween!

Foiled again!

October 31, 2011

Darn you rain. Once again you foiled my plans for a nice run outside. Grrr…. I was tempted to say ‘the hell with it’ and just run through the rain, but I’m flying out of Tampa tonight and the idea of packing soaked running shoes wasn’t a nice one. So I choked down my pride more »

Ain’t no party like a bridesmaid party!

October 30, 2011

Word. This afternoon I made the short drive to Orlando to try on bridesmaid dresses with my sister and her lovely bridesmaids: Amber, Ashley, and Jessie (we missed you Stephanie!). But, before I left Tampa, I had some leftover butternut squash soup and cornbread for lunch. I specifically waited until the last minute to leave more »

Hot Apples

October 30, 2011

Good Morning. How’s the weather where you are? Were you one of the lucky few to wake up to snow or is it still hot and humid? It’s cool and breezy here. <– love it! Which would have been awesome weather for running, but I decided to take it easy inside and dug out a more »

Boring

October 29, 2011

I was boring today. b-o-booorrrrinnnggg. I’m sorry! It’s my last Saturday in town for a while and I wanted to take advantage of it while I could. There was good food though – I promise. My hunger kicked in around 2:00 and I was jonesing for some leftovers. The last of the hubbard squash (finally!) more »
