Ready to Tri

Guess what tomorrow is?!?!

That’s right. It’s triathlon time baby!

The alarm is set for 3:00am and tomorrow morning I’m heading to Siesta Beach to compete in my fourth triathlon. Woop! Woop!

I’ve been mentally prepping myself all week and still can’t believe it’s tomorrow morning. Didn’t I just register yesterday? Also, I just discovered today that the run portion of this race is in the SAND! That’s 6.2 miles of sand – Yikes! Maybe I should reviewed the course map before registering? That could have been a deal breaker.

This afternoon I began gathering all the necessities for race day.

I think I have everything, but more than likely I’ll be scrambling come morning trying to uncover something I’ve forgotten.

Let’s see…

My bike and helmet are already in the car.

I have towels for wiping my feet down in the transition area.

Race belt. Goggles. Sunglasses. Cycling gloves. Race fuel. Sunscreen. Garmin.

Am I forgetting anything?

The day before a race always means a day of goods eats.

Lunch was a big bowl of sauteed zucchini and yellow squash with marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, and mozzarella.

I love the combination of ricotta and mozzarella – it reminds me of making lasagna with my mom as a kid and eating spoonfuls of the ricotta filling as she layered the dish.

A quartered pita was perfect for soaking up the good stuff.

According to Derek I’ve been slacking in the dinner department (said in a very loving, joking tone). My goal was to make up for it tonight with a real meal (especially since I’m making him wake up at some ungodly hour in the morning).

Sloppy Lentil Joes is one of Derek’s favorites. Just combine cooked lentils, carrot, onion, ketchup, mustard, and bbq sauce and you’ve got yourself an easy meal.

Sweet potato fries are my favorite. You can never go wrong with sweet potato fries and ketchup!

A meal fit for a queen. ๐Ÿ™‚

Followed by a bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream and frozen cherries for dessert.

(camera battery was charging. use your imagination. ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

The nerves are really starting to kick in! Even though I’m smack dab in the middle of Half Ironman Training, I still don’t feel quite prepared for a full triathlon – I guess it’s too late to pack out now.

Ready or not – Siesta Beach Tri – here I come!

Cantaloupe Bowl

Good Morning! And Happy Friday! I just returned from a 4 mile run and feel fabulous. Nothing like a morning run to really pump up your energy in the morning (I promise – it’s better than coffee!). Breakfast was a refreshing serving of yogurt and cereal in a cantaloupe bowl. I just stuffed 1/2 a more ยป
