It’s Britney Time!

by Meghann on July 20, 2011

Ahhhh!!!!

I’ve gotta make this quick! Almost time to hit the road for Orlando (I’m starting to sound like a broken record saying that! πŸ˜‰ ) – It’s Britney, Bitch!

Lunch was simple and fabulous.

IMG_9723.JPG

I made a chickpea salad by tossing a can of chickpeas with tomatoes, raisins, olives, and roasted red peppers and letting it marinade for a little bit in a evoo, vinegar, and lemon juice dressing. The chick pea salad was then layered on top of a slice of cheese, spinach, and a wrap.

Grapes were served on the side as a thirst quencher.

Britney! Britney! Britney!

I have the world’s worst taste in music.

Actually, I have no taste in music. I really just listen to what ever the radio tells me to listen to and I’m pretty content with that. I prefer music from female singers that I can easily sing along to (if they hit multiple high notes I can’t reach or sing way too high soprano then I’m usually not a fan), is easy to dance to, and is relatively catchy.

I think all of that is why I love Britney Spears.

(I was totally Britney’s version of a school girl for Halloween in 8th grade)

When Britney first came out with Hit Me Baby One More Time in 7th grade – I was obsessed. I was 13 at the time and smack dab in the middle of the teeny bopper market she was aiming for. I purchased the cd, memorized all the words, and I’m pretty sure there’s some embarrassing videos out there somewhere with me belting out a song or two into my hairbrush microphone. (I’ve already burnt the photos.)

I’ve followed Britney pretty consistently through the ups and downs of her career and have stayed a loyal fan since day 1. Yes, she’s had her crazy moments, but if I had photographers following me around every minute of my life, I would go a little crazy too.

Her songs are still catchy, I can still dance along, and – have you seen her lately? – girl is lookin’ fine!

I can not wait to live out my 13 year old fantasies by seeing Britney for the first time in concert tonight. I don’t even care if she sings live – I’m just there for the show anyways! I would rather have her voice be recorded – and sound good – then be live and horrible. (I told you I have no taste in music!)

Cross your fingers there are no emergency phone calls on the drive over tonight. We all remember what happened last time…

If you were living out your inner 13 year old fantasies – which concert would you go to?

I would say Hanson, but I really did get to see them in concert when I was 13!

I LOVE BRITNEY! I have a side of me that loves terrible pop music. I can’t help it. I went to a Britney concert back in her ‘Baby One More Time’ days, as well as NSync, Backstreet Boys, Christina, and Justin. πŸ™‚ And I’m going to the Britney concert in Michigan in a month…I can’t WAIT! What makes it EVEN better is that Pauly D from Jersey Shore is going to be there too — he signed on to open along with Nicki Minaj at 4 of the Brit concerts. I’m so deliriously excited…haha!

I got to see Britney “live” in 1999 when we were in Disney while she was taping her segment for the Disney Easter parade. She was injured, so there was no dancing. And, of course, she was lip-syncing.

I was a fan of Britney’s when she was on the Mickey Mouse Club, and through my circle of MMC penpals, I somehow got her phone number in Louisiana. I think I might have been 13 or 14 at the time, but I called the number. Her mom answered and then gave the phone to Britney. I actually got to talk to her, believe it or not. She wasn’t famous yet at all. It was in between her MMC years and the late 90s. I asked her a few questions like “what was your favorite dance routine?” I can’t even remember what she said now, but talking to her was pretty wild. I had no idea at the time how famous she would get.

Hmmm.. I’d totally go see an NSYNC concert. I’ve loved JC since 1994.

NKOTB when I was 11 or 12. My parents refused to suffer through a concert. I now understand why as I wouldn’t want to attend something full of screaming pre-teen girls.

I love Brittney but I also feel so bad for her. Someone who is under that strict of a conservatorship (the type that is usually reserved for people with severe mental disabilities) should not be made to perform on world tours like a circus pony. It’s pretty obvious that her parents and management are monetizing her at the expense of her health and happiness. I just wish they would let her retire and live in peace. It’s so sad to watch her in interviews all glassy-eyed and vacant and so obvious this is not what she wants to be doing.

Britney 4eva!

Haha, I have been a brit-brit fan since day 1, and I would never let a little shaved head and umbrella incident get in the way of that!

I hope you have an amazing time at the concert!

Have a great time Meghann! I completely share the Britney obsession. πŸ™‚ I have always loved her and have been her for Halloween three times. When I went to her concert last year, these two guys were in line and their shirts said, “Brit’s Bitch.” It was awesome.

I would jump at the chance to see Nysnc in concert (again)!!!

Have fun! πŸ™‚ BTW, the chickpea salad looks yummy. I especially like the addition of the grapes and wrap. I’m gonna try it this weekend.

When I was 13, grunge was really popular, so I would say Pearl Jam. I even remember having their first album on a cassette tape. That makes me feel old!

How fun! I went to a Britney concert a few years ago in college.
My all time fave was backstreet boys though!

Haha, I HAD to comment on this one. Backstreet Boys!! I’ve seen them 8 times! The first being in 6th grade and the last being this past month with NKOTB at 26. Nick Carter and I have the same tattoo by complete coincidence (seriously!) so I’m still convinced we’re soul mates. No shame in Brit πŸ˜€
