Yoga in the Park

by Meghann on July 31, 2011

Every Sunday at 6:00pm something good happens at Curtis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa.

Yoga Downtown Tampa steps out into the community and offers a donation based yoga class in the park. It’s peaceful, serene, and the perfect way to unwind before the start of another crazy work week.

I’ve been dying to make my way out to the outdoor yoga class for a while now, but my weekends are always a bit compact and hectic and leave very little room for fun, relaxing adventures. Today, however, was about as open as they come.

Derek and I spent the morning shopping and errand running, then made an easy lunch of nachos.

Just blue corn chips with beans, onions, melted cheese, tomato, mushrooms, olives, and salsa.

Slice of leftover Fruit Pizza for dessert (who wants to bet that I end up eating all three leftover pieces on my own?)

And a mid-afternoon snack of Peanut Butter Pretzels.

There was some napping and tv watching thrown in there, but I grew bored of that pretty quickly. Derek LOVES to stay on the couch all day, while I prefer to be outside (even in the rain ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). I left Derek in his happy place and headed on my own to downtown where I killed a couple of hours walking and reading before meeting my friends Valerie and Amber for a little yoga action.

The yoga class was exactly what my body was craving. It was on the slower side and really concentrated on breathing and stretching. My aching training body soaked everything in and flowed easily through the movements. Just further proof that I really need to re-introduce regular yoga practice back into my life.

Namaste.

Yoga ended around 7:00 and I headed home to prepare a light dinner for Derek and I.

In the bowl:

  • 2 cans of Chickpeas
  • 2 T Dijon Mustard
  • Balsamin Vinegar
  • EVOO
  • Lemon Juice
  • S&P
  • Fresh Basil
  • Tomato
  • Raisins
  • Leftover Red Quiona

All mixed up.

Served on a bed of spinach.

It was a cold, refreshing salad that was perfect for a hot summer evening. It also went well with my post-yoga healthy body mindset. ๐Ÿ™‚

I had some grapes with chocolate chips for dessert.

I’m currently watching a fascinating special on CNBC called Supermarket, Inc. It’s a behind the scenes look of product and consumer marketing. I love this stuff! <– nerd alert!

Good night friends!

Blogging in my Pjs

July 31, 2011

Good Morning. ๐Ÿ™‚ Sunday equal rest day (aka sleeping in and blogging in my pajamas) and considering I was in bed by 10:30 last night (party animal!) waking up at 8:00am meant 9+ hours of glorious sleep. Sundays rock! I wish my dreams rocked too. We’re officially 20 days out from the Healthy Living Summit more ยป

Fruit Pizza

Can i get a holy yum? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Today is National Water Fight Day. At least according to Facebook it is. I received an invite via Twitter/Facebook to the ultimate water fight just outside of the St. Pete Forum – and had fully intended on going – but when the time came to leave, baking suddenly more ยป

Fresh

July 30, 2011

Since I moved to Tampa (almost 5 months ago!), I’ve been slowly checking off all the places people told me ‘I had to try’ when I moved here. One of those places was Fresh in downtown Tampa. Personally, the location isn’t the best (downtown is really hard to navigate unless you live or work here), more ยป

Holding It In

July 30, 2011

You have your good runs and you have your bad runs. Let’s call today a mix of both. ๐Ÿ˜‰ The original plan called for a 6 mile run this morning, but after a quick check on twitter, I was inspired by a friend who tweeted about her morning 7 miler. hmm… 7 miles? I could more ยป

Pizza and a Movie

July 29, 2011

Allow me to introduce you to mine and Derek’s impression of this past week. Clearly we were in need of a night out. And a stiff drink. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Luckily, I had a gift card leftover from the raffle I had won at the Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza Tweet Up Derek and I had both attended more ยป
