Happiest Place on Earth

by Meghann on May 6, 2011

We like to celebrate birthdays in style around here. :)

Back in February Kelly celebrated my 26th birthday with me at the Happiest Place on Earth. It was only fitting that I would return the favor for her big day.

For those who inquired, yes, I have a seasonal pass to Walt Disney World.

A seasonal pass is really similar to an annual pass, only it has black out dates (the dates you wouldn’t want to visit Disney anyways – unless you like huge crowds and long lines. :) ) As someone who is a little obsessed with Disney and lives close to the parks (it was a little more than an hour drive from Tampa this morning) it’s a great pass to have. Especially since, I enjoy using it when ever I can! :)

Kelly and Ashley had purchased 4-Day 1-Park passes back in February (WDW always runs a killer $99 deal for Florida residents during the ‘slow season’) that were expiring this month. They had days to use and we had a reason to celebrate. Win. Win.

We met at the park at 10:00 this morning, got our celebration buttons, and took the obligatory sisters in front of the castle shot.

We kicked it old school this morning with a ride on the Jungle Cruise.

(can you believe they squeezed three of us on a seat? so didn’t feel safe!)

And Thunder Mountain

It was cloudy and rainy this morning, but we made the most of it. The good news is clouds + rain = no crowds! The lines were 20 minutes at most and all the outdoor rides were less than 10. Sure, we got a little wet, but no big deal. :)

We stopped for lunch in Frontierland.

*Disney Nerd Alert*

I’m a regular follower of the Disney Parks Blog and the other day they had a great post on the Best Vegetarian Eats in Walt Disney World Theme Parks. When our stomachs started to grumble, I pulled the post up on my phone and decided to pursue the suggested veggie flatbread at Golden Oak Outpost in Frontierland. I wasn’t 100% what to expect since there wasn’t a photo on the site, but we were all happily surprised when this was placed in front of us at the counter.

The ‘Veggie Flatbread’ was a white flatbread filled with hummus, lettuce, chopped veggies, a black bean/corn mix, and banana peppers.

It was huge, filling, and really tasty. In fact, it looked so good, we all ordered it.

I had mine with a side of apple slices.

And stole some fries from Kelly and Ashley.

No birthday is complete at Disney without an indulgent birthday dessert!

The three of us split the famous Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwich from the Bakery on Main Street.

Best. Thing. Ever.

If you purchase nothing else when you come to Disney World, I 100% recommend getting the homemade Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwich. Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies… real vanilla ice cream….a sandwich as big as your head……holy yum!

We ended our Magic Kingdom day with a parade!

Happy Birthday Kelly!

I made the hour and a half drive back to Tampa without any issues and had an apple upon my return.

Off to enjoy my Friday night!

A Morning Workout

May 6, 2011

Good Morning! Happy Friday! I’m on my way to Disney to spend the day with my Sister for her 24th birthday (it’s on Sunday!) (photo from her 21st birthday. man, time flies!) But, before I go I wanted to share an awesome gym workout I had this morning. Cardio: I discovered this little treadmill workout more »

Cinco de Mayo

May 6, 2011

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Ironically I didn’t realize it was Cinco de Mayo until after lunch time. My old college self would be so ashamed of that fact. No comment. 😉 Actually that photo is from Carlos ‘n’ Charlie’s in Cozumel from 2006. Here’s another one. And another from the same album. And now I more »
