Orange Toast

by Meghann on April 20, 2011

Here’s something new for you:

IMG_2628.JPG

Two slices of toast with almond butter, apple butter, granola, chia seeds, and ORANGE SLICES.

IMG_2631.JPG

Yes, orange slices. On toast.

I had an orange that had been in my produce drawer for a week too long. I wanted toast with almond butter this morning and decided ‘why not?’

IMG_2630.JPG

It was a really refreshing addition to the toast. Each bite left the orange slice bursting with juice, creating an orange marmalade effect when blended with the apple butter. Loved it. 🙂

The toast was especially refreshing following my 5 mile run this morning. i kept a great pace of 9:00 min/miles and came home to a nice deep leg stretch. A few pigeons and double pigeons and my legs were good as new. : )

What’s your favorite toast topping? Butter? Peanut Butter? Jam? Do share!

1 Kara April 20, 2011 at 9:30 am

I guess that’s like marmalade, so it’s not the strangest thing I can think of for toast. You can do better 🙂

Interesting combo!!! I think PB and banana is probably my all time favourite – even more so if the PB is Cinnamon Raisin Swirl by PB&Co!

Nice!
I hate hate haaate marmelade (it makes me gag) but that combination could well be do-able..:)

Classic PB&J.

Actually my favourite is cheese, but that makes me break out in acne so that’s not happening anymore.

I wish I lived in Florida, the land of the world’s best oranges. Seriously. Last time I was in Florida (about 20 years ago!) I almost ate an entire 5lb bag myself!

7 Katy (The Singing Runner) April 20, 2011 at 9:37 am

I’m actually not a big fan of oranges (bad night with vodka and OJ…can never look at oranges the same way :() but this actually looks refreshing! I love putting fresh strawberries on toast with a light dusting of powdered sugar. 🙂

Savoury – I love peanut butter and marmite (together) on toast. Sweet – you can’t beat soya marg on warm toast (or butter if you eat it), sprinkled with brown sugar and cinnamon. Yum!

Hmm. Well since I’m the queen of weird food combos, I feel like I need to think of the strangest thing I’ve ever put on toast…not that strange BUT sometimes when I really want French Toast but don’t feel like making it, I’ll drizzle it with butter and syrup to fake it 🙂

I recently tried orange fig preserves with and thin spread of honey lavender goat cheese on sunflower toast. They were all farmers market finds. It was great!
For some reason I just can’t eat oranges by themselves and I have one that been hanging out in my crisper too. Can’t wait to try it on toast!

oranges rock my socks off. First time I’ve seen it on toast, let’s see how quickly it catches on!

25 Morgan @ Life After Bagels April 20, 2011 at 11:05 am

Well it better be jam … for Christmas both my dad and my father in law gave me a huge jar of jam … when they got into making jam is beyond me (separately, they’ve actually never met) but I’ll be eating it for the rest of the year 🙂

26 Tracey April 20, 2011 at 11:07 am
