A Quick Fix

by Meghann on April 8, 2011

Remember that YHL photo frame collage I created last week?

Well, I’ve been slowly chipping away at it.

I purchased the much needed photo frames to fill in the gabs and began filling the frames with a good mix of photos that incorporate both mine and Derek’s family as equally as possible.

There’s Ben’s proposal.

A favorite photo of Derek’s parents.

The fur members of our family.

My siblings (excuse the unfocused photo)

And – of course – a photo of Derek and I.

My Mom and Dad were here last weekend and immediately noticed they were missing from the collage. Don’t worry Mom and Dad! I promise to get you guys up there soon! I’m also saving a spot for Derek’s future niece, who should arrive sometime in June. :)

I was saving the largest frame for a favorite photo of mine.

Remember this little beauty?

After months of having it in my ‘to print’ folder, I finally knew what to do with it!

Unfortunately I got a little too excited when ordering the large print and accidentally ordered a size short for the frame.

Oopsss…..

IMG_1693.JPG

Luckily, instead of ordering another print, my Dad had a quick (considerably less $$) fix of double matting it.

IMG_1696.JPG

I simply matted the 11×14 photo to the black matte and matted the black matte to the original white matte that came with the frame. (Is that enough mattes in one sentence for you?)

Not the most glamorous solution, but it worked! Thanks Dad!

I <3 my photo collage. Maybe one day I can expand it to cover the whole wall.

One day. ;)

Derek came home lunch around 11:30 (approximately an hour after I had breakfast), so I made him an extra meaty sandwich with a side of peppermint brownies and sent him on his birthday way. I should of took a photo. I plated everything on a heart shaped plate and was standing by the door holding the plate when he walked in. I think he was impressed. :)

For my own lunch, I made a roasted vegetable/ marinara sauce dish three hours after his.

IMG_1729.JPG

Roasted vegetables consisted of tempeh, broccoli, asparagus, carrot, radishes, and okra (basically everything I had in my fridge.

IMG_1735.JPG

Toppings included marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, rosemary, salt, and pepper.

With two slices of pumpernickel bread.

My eyes were bigger than my stomach and half of the bread and veggies when to Maddie – who surprisingly finished off the dish like a champ. :)
