New Running Routes

by Meghann on March 7, 2011

Good Morning!

Welcome to the start of another work week. πŸ™‚

My weekend is spilling into my work week, but I’m ok with that. I plan to dedicate my mornings to organizing, painting, and unpacking. Then escaping to a nearby coffee shop in the afternoons to get as much work done as I can. It’s a tricky balance, but I’m ready for the challenge.

Yesterday Derek took me on a mini tour of the area to seek out some new running routes. This morning I tested one of those new routes out and did a great 4 miles around some beautiful homes and friendly streets. There are a ton of hidden streets around here that are going to take me a while to explore – nothing like a new challenge!

I also discovered the cutest little produce stand within walking distance of the condo. I see lots of gorgeous fresh produce in my near future. πŸ˜‰

The kitchen is still out of control, but at least my cereal is safe.

This morning’s bowl contained:

  • 1/2 cup Mini Shredded Wheat
  • 1/2 cup Multigrain Cheerios
  • 1/2 cup Strawberry Uncle Sam
  • Plain Oikos
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Apple Conserves

IMG_8761.JPG

I’m not sure I’ve shown you guys the back porch yet.

IMG_8771.JPG

Look! A hot tub!

IMG_8769.JPG

The hot tub came with the condo when Derek bought it last year. He’s still doing tests to make sure the hot tub is in working condition, but my fingers are crossed we’ll have it running soon. πŸ˜‰

IMG_8772.JPG

And here’s a better shot of the Derek’s Grandmother’s chair (currently the only piece of furniture in the living room)

IMG_8776.jpg

An old comfy chair is better than no chair at all. πŸ˜‰

Any new Tampa friends want to have a painting party with us this weekend? We’ll pay in pizza and beer!! Please?! Pretty, Pretty please?! πŸ˜‰

Sweet a hot tub! I love going home to visit cause I get to use my hot tub – perfect for after a day of snowboarding or after long runs!

That’s awesome that you have a hot tub!Whenever I’m in an unfamiliar neighbourhood, I usually use runnersworld.com to find routes that other people have run. That way I know how far I’ve gone, and I can usually trust them to keep me out of any really sketchy areas!

It’s so important to have good, safe running routes nearby. That was one of my big concerns when I moved recently. So glad you’re finding great options! Happy unpacking!

You’re inspiring me to look up some new running routes in my neighborhood. Since I moved to a new city for grad school I have been a little hesitant to run by myself (safety concerns) but I know there are some nice areas just a short drive away.

Good luck unpacking & getting organized. How awesome that there is a hot tub πŸ™‚

5 Sarah W. March 7, 2011 at 9:25 am

yay for being all moved in!

my 2 cents: honestly, its probably better if you and Derek or you and somebody else tackle the painting yourself. my friends had a bunch of ppl over to paint and 1) it was disorganized and 2) the paint did not go on evenly if you had 2-3 ppl working on the same wall. while painting is a pain, I def think just 2 people should do the job. Generally I start the first coat by trimming the room, once I get one wall done, my husband starts rolling the wall I trimmed and follows me around the room, then the 2nd coat is much easier and you can just roll the whole thing, not worrying about trimming. just my 2cents πŸ™‚

I agree with Sarah above!!! When it comes to paintining its tricky to have lots of bodies doing the work!! Id suggest 3 people max!

Finding new running routes are critical when you move! I hope Maddie has been able to relax a bit now that she has a chair to sleep on again πŸ™‚

Unpacking is the worst.thing.ever. We’ve lived in our house for almost 9 months and I still have boxes in the “office” that need to be unpacked. Soon. They will be unpacked soon.

There are tons of places to run in Tampa! The pinellas trail, suncoast trail, and down in Clearwater. Oh boy, the possibilities are endless! I have to drive to various trails to get long runs in because they are impossible in my neighborhood.

ooo hot tub! I’m jealous!

Moving is definitely expensive and exhausting but I always find it so fun. I hate the packing part but unpacking is the best. I love organizing everything and making everything look good.

If you’re looking for a new coffee shop to work at in Tampa, I absolutely adore Indigo in Hyde Park Village! They have some nice outdoor space too. I make it a point to stop there whenever I’m back home.

27 Jessica March 7, 2011 at 10:44 am

Painting parties are fun, but make sure you have people to help that will actually do a good job lol! I think it would be a lot easier with just 2 or 3 people total otherwise you could wind up dumping paint or something silly like that – too many cooks in the kitchen/too many painters in the livingroom haha.

It’s too bad the hot tub weather is about over down here, maybe we will get a couple more “cool” days πŸ™‚

A hot tub?! How awesome! That sun room/porch looks amazing…a great place to setup and work, I’m sure. Have fun painting! I think you will love the green. It’s one of those colors I never really get sick of and it goes with almost everything (I think of green plant stems and flowers are all different colors and they seem to look pretty…right?!)

That is so exciting. When I first moved to the town I currently live in, I walked everywhere. I mean, it’s only a town of about 1700 but still. I grew up in a community of less than 400. I walked everywhere because this place was SO big to me!
