Ben Tries Yoga

by Meghann on February 23, 2011

We tried to warn him, but I’m pretty sure Ben had no idea what he was getting himself into this afternoon. My poor little brother – so naive, so young!

Truth is, Kelly and I have been dying to take our little brother to hot yoga for a while. Ben is the ultimate gym junkie – he goes to the gym everyday, he lifts weights, he downs protein shakes like they’re milkshakes, etc. – so we were curious to see how he would handle an intense hot yoga practice.

Looks like tonight we finally got our answer.

To be fair, tonight’s class was a little advanced, so poor Ben did struggle figuring out what leg or hand went where at what time. He did amazing though and really held his own. He took breaks when needed and chugged water along the way. The best part of class was when I heard him uttering under his breath ‘this is tough.’ No one ever said hot yoga was easy. ๐Ÿ™‚

Let’s just say at the end he left a sweaty, determined mess. But, I’m pretty sure he’ll be back. They always come back. ๐Ÿ™‚

Before yoga I spent the afternoon working at Starbucks.

It was HOT outside today. Looks like Iced Un-Sweetened Passion Fruit Teas are coming back into season. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m a tea-latte girl during the winter and an iced passion fruit tea girl in the summer. ๐Ÿ™‚

I brought an oatmeal bar to snack on before class.

While Ben was finding his way in his own yoga practice this evening, I found myself excelling in my own. Tonight’s yoga was probably the best practice I’ve ever had. I set my intention at the beginning of class on giving my all to every pose. I stuck with that intention and it felt like my body knew exactly what to do and when to do it. It was a truly amazing experience. ๐Ÿ™‚

After class I had the urge to stop for something quick and easy to eat on the way home, but decided to stick with my guns and wait it out for the frozen meal I had mentally prepped myself for before class.

The Kashi Mayan Harvest Bake was on sale at Publix for next to nothing a few weeks ago, but it hasn’t budged from my freezer since then. I’ve had the Mayan Harvest Bake before and knew it was good, I was just waiting out the right time to have it. I guess the week before a big move classifies as the right time. ๐Ÿ™‚

Why are frozen meals never as pretty as they appear on the box? It makes me sad.

The spinach, blue cheese, pecans, and cornbread did perk up tonight’s rendition at least. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The extra goodies bulked up the frozen meal and added a different lay of saltiness and crunch. The Mayan Harvest Bake really is my favorite frozen meal. The unique flavor combination is truly what sets it apart. I mean, what other frozen meals out there pair quiona, plantains, and sweet potatoes?

I made a tiny ice cream cone with Take the Cake Ice Cream and a Godiva Chocolate for dessert.

Now, i’m catching up on the DVR. 90210 is calling my name. ๐Ÿ™‚

Good Night!
