Detox

Hot yoga was all that was on my mind this evening.

I finished work around 5:30 and hightailed it across town to sweat my asana off at my favorite studio. I informed Kelly (the instructor) before class I had just returned from a long weekend of skiing and drinking and was in need of a good detox. She must have been listening because a good detox was what she provided.

The flow was nice and slow and she really concentrated on the hips and IT band. I felt like all the tension I had been holding in that area from traveling was finally released. It felt great. Now, I can’t wait to get back on my feet with a good run in the morning. ๐Ÿ™‚

Derek returned to Tampa this afternoon, so I had a Valentine’s/ Anniversary Dinner for One this evening.

This was NOT a picture perfect meal, but it did taste ok. I was going for a sweet and sour red cabbage with some tofu thrown in.

Basically I threw the following items in a pan:

  • Red Cabbage
  • Red Onion
  • Apple
  • Tofu
  • Raisins
  • Mushrooms
  • Spoonful of sugar

Coated it with a little balsamic and apple cider vinegar, then let it all cook down.

Yeah, not very pretty. Oh well.

Godiva for dessert. Of course. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Maybe I should begin tackling that above pile?

In other news, I need to start packing soon for the big move. I am NOT looking forward to that. :/ Where’s that magic wand when I need it?

As someone who has moved 8 times in the last 4 years, if there were a magic wand, I would have found it by now. Unfortunately “the easy way” and “moving” don’t go together. ๐Ÿ™

I have found the same thing to be true – I hold tension in my IT band and when I do yoga to work it out – all tension melts away.

The trick to moving? Don’t think about it.

I put the packing off till the last minute and then enact a frenzy of activity to get it all done in time. And then, when you have everything moved, take in a deep breath of relief and face the unpacking in the morning ๐Ÿ™‚

I like to think of packing as a reason to PURGE. Yes, it can be daunting, but think of all of the random crap that has invaded your space over the past few years.

So glad you had an awesome yoga class…that’s the sign of a fabulous instructor (and how i try to be)…basically being a mindreader and knowing what your students are asking for/needing without them having to say it. So glad you loved it.

Your tofu/beets/throw in pan….it looks delish to me!

I am the WORST unpacker! Seriously. I did not unpack my bag from when I ran Disney until 3 weeks after the race (I did take out my dirty clothes, I’m not THAT bad!)

I say buy some wine, have some girlfriends over, and have a packing party! If I lived closer I would help! Moving is alot of work!

My only piece of advice is to pay someone else to move you ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s not as expensive as you think (especially for an apartment) and it’s fantastic. After my husband got out of the Marines, we couldn’t give up having other people pack us up and move us to new locations ๐Ÿ™‚

Packing is so annoying! I have moved several times within the past couple of years and I think I have it down to a science. Although, I need to go through a lot of my boxes because I just keep transporting them from house to house and I don’t know what it is them. Moving gives you a chance to go through your stuff and get rid of those things you don’t need/want anymore. Good luck! ๐Ÿ™‚

I hate packing to move. I seriously regret the way I pack (read: throw random things into boxes) when I have to unpack!

Hot yoga is the best detox for me! It was the first thing I did after I got home from my Christmas vacation! I’m moved a lot in my life (18 times growing up) and then three times in the past year! My only helpful tip is what I *dream* of doing for my next move – hire packers and movers! Good luck!

Oh and label, label, label! You can never put too many details on a brown box that looks just like every other box! (i.e. instead of just kitchen “stuff” write read bowls, plates, cups, etc!)

I like to call it ~ pitch and pack! Take your time ~ start now and do a little each day. And pitch whatever you haven’t used in a few years, and don’t see you using it again. I agree with LauraJayne about labeling.
