When all else fails… force a restart.

by Meghann on January 18, 2011

Friends!

I didn’t think I would ever see you again after staring at this screen for the last two hours.

*gulp*

My Macbook has been acting funky lately, so I decided to restart it and install some updates this morning. Two hours of looking at the spinning grey screen later I began to realize something wasn’t right. Fears of losing my computer began to prance through my head as I thanked the heavens I had recently backed everything up on the ever practical external hard drive I had received for Christmas.

After a couple of encouraging tweets I crossed my fingers and forced a restart. When all else fails, force a restart, right? Luckily that was the trick it needed and I am now staring at an App Store icon on the bottom of the screen as well as a redone itunes icon (not a fan, I miss the classic itunes look!).

Crisis averted.

I had actually started the updates right before diving into my third week of Jillian Michaels’ 6 Week 6 Pack. This is my last week doing part I and I’ll admit I’m a little excited about starting part II next week. I haven’t peeked yet on what part II brings so it will be a nice surprise next Monday or Tuesday. Gotta start changing it up!

Berries were on my mind for breakfast this morning and they really made this bowl of cereal pop. The strawberries and blueberries were so fresh and so delicious.

IMG_5060.JPG

  • 1/2 cup Cinnamon Burst Cherrios (A new buy. Good, but not as great as Cinnamon Kashi H2H)
  • 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean
  • 1/2 Flax Flakes
  • Plain Yogurt
  • Peanut Butter
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries

It feels good to have my computer back. Two hours without it and I was already having withdraws. Can you say addict?

My name is Meghann and I am addicted to my computer.

Le sigh.

I’m addicted to my computer too. And blogs. And e-mail. Sheesh!

I want strawberries so bad! They were $5.99 at the grocery store the other day…and they were NOT organic! Ugh. Your bowl looks great!

The spinning wheel grey screen makes me SO nervous, even on a normal start up. It lead to a hard drive crash once, so now I’m always a little wary when I restart. Glad you have a backup handy–I learned from my mistakes on that one… ahem.

Oh my goodness, I am SO missing fresh berries right now! They’re out of season here and the ones I bought recently just didn’t taste right. Again, SO jealous you live in Florida!

I’m glad your Mac issues are sorted – I too am a computer addict!

I just saw those cinnamon burst Cheerios in the store. I almost bought them, and then refrained. Good to know your thoughts!

Glad everything worked out OK with the pretty little laptop. One of my greatest fears is losing everything due to a system update. It happened on my work computer last year and it was traumatizing.

I hate when problems like that happen with computers! It’s so frustrating. I’m glad it’s back up and running! I thought the Cinnamon Burst Cheerios looked good in the store. I think I’d still be intersted to see what they are like. The strawberries really make your cereal pop!

And I’ve been feeling more than a little addicted to my computer lately.

Just the thought of looking at that screen for two hours makes me feel a little sick. I’m glad it turned out OK in the end. It may have taken a long time because you had a ton of updates that needed to be installed. I’ve had the updated iTunes icon for several months now. Even so, 2 hours seems rather long.

14 Biz January 18, 2011 at 10:49 am

Luckily my husband is computer savvy, otherwise I’d be lost half the time – I don’t even know how to Twitter and I only go on Facebook like once a month – one day I’ll catch on to the social media!

I’m jealous of your berries, they’re still really expensive here so I’m stuck dreaming of the day when they come back in season

I am very much addicted to my iPad.

Its seriously so easy to carry around and get information or look at blogs in an instant.

The thing changed my life for the better and worse.

I love all the opportunites it gives me but I also feel like its so easy to shy away from real life and distract myself!

I gotta find a balance there 😉
