Snowflakes on a Bowl

by Meghann on December 10, 2010

I’m baaaccckkkkk.

And I have a new favorite Oatmeal Mug.

Check out this lovely snowflake beauty I picked up at JoAnn’s last night for 60% off! I think it SCREAMS Meghann, don’t you?

What’s it in screams Meghann too – a nice batch of pumpkin oats.

Oatmeal:

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • raisins
  • Pumpkin
  • Chia Seeds
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Pumpkin Spice

Toppings

  • Hot Cinnamon Apple
  • Frog Hollow Granola
  • Pumpkin Butter
  • Apple Butter

I went for a run this morning. A short one, but a good one.

I even took Maddie along to keep me at a steady pace. I’m not sure why I’ve never taken Maddie on any of my short morning runs before, but she LOVED it. We went three miles and I had to keep reigning her in to slow her down. When we hit three miles – and I stopped for a quarter mile cool down – she wanted so badly to keep running. That girl seriously loves to run!

Her Mom loves to run too. It felt great to get back out there. My body was very appreciative that I took 4 days off post marathon and thankfully didn’t announce any new pains or twinges. Everything felt… normal.

Normal for now at least. I’ve had a few inquiries on when my next marathon will be, but honestly, for now, I’m good with marathons for the season. I have a couple of halfs coming up in January and February, but those are my only commitments at the moment. I would love to get back into the habit of going to the gym, strength training, and changing my routine up a bit. My body needs a new athletic challenge, it’s ready for some fun. :)

Be sure to come back for my afternoon post – I finally uploaded my marathon playlist!! :)

Excited for your new athletic challenges. I always love switching up goals too. It keeps things more interesting. And balanced.

LOVE the bowl/mug. Adorable!

Running with a dog sounds so fun! My dog was never much of an endurance athlete, and she often got out of control.

Speaking from my experiences, it is so nice to take some time off of marathon training and focus on other things. I’m doing a half in March, which I’ll start a training schedule in January, so the past couple of weeks I have been getting back into strength training and loving it.
I <3 that pic of Maddie!

Maddie is so cute!! We had a Bichon when I was growing up; I tried running with him once and he got to the end of the block and laid down in protest. :)

Since I am a guy, am I allowed to say that is a cute bowl? LOL.

I wish my dog could run. The most he runs is from his crate to his food bowl!

I’m surprised you haven’t taken Maddie with you before. Jack Russell’s have SO much energy!

Although I have a Heeler/Aussie mix who you would think would be bouncing off the walls with energy and three miles will knock him out for the whole day!

PS, I hear ya on needing a new athletic challenge. I’m taking the month to enjoy some spinning, bootcamp, and kickboxing classes – while still running, but just running a little less. Besides, I need to ease into this cold weather running thing again. Breathing sub-freezing air takes getting used to!

Cute Mug!

My JRT loves to run too, except when we stop to cross a street or something, all she wants to do is snuggle and kiss my face!
