Ice Cream Social

by Meghann on December 8, 2010

Sometimes I feel like I work in an Elementary School.

Especially when I see signs like this hanging around.

Of course, I’m not complaining!

In fact, I’ll take ice cream over the traditional office birthday cake any day of the week.

You would be surprised how an Ice Cream bar turns an office of full grown adults into a room of little kids. We literally raced from our corporate meeting to the main conference room to dig into the treats.

I was one of the first in line and managed to a serving of Peanut Butter Cup with sprinkles, M&Ms, and strawberries. It was delicious. Again, wayyyy better than cake. ;)

After work I met up with my friend Raya to test out a new yoga studio closer to our side of town.

Altamonte Springs Yoga had a Living Social deal the other week that offered 5 yoga classes for a reduced rate. Since I had never heard of Altamonte Yoga before, I believe this deal was a big success for them. ;)

The studio was small and peaceful in the corner section of a strip mall. As soon as Raya and I entered we were greeted with nothing but kindness and smiles. Our deals were jotted down, we were instructed on where to leave our gear, and we entered the beautiful open room to lay out our mats.

Unlike Orlando Power Yoga our class wasn’t full to the max. In fact, it was just the two of us plus one other. It was a very intimate class, which was nice. The small class allowed for more adjustments and one on one interaction with the instructor.

It was a simple flow class, but honestly it was just what my body needed. Stretch, stretch, and more stretch! A sweaty, hardcore yoga class is amazing, but sometimes our bodies just need a calm stretch. :)

I came home from Yoga and immediately popped a frozen pizza in the oven.

Dinner in 10 minutes flat. Whats not to love?

Of course I had to add my own toppings.

Much better.

I had half with some applesauce.

And another evening comes to an end!

Good Night!!

No Time to Eat

by Meghann on December 8, 2010

It has been a busy morning! We’re launching a major release of one of our products this month and it has turned my office – and job – upside down. How many days until Christmas again?!?! ;)

My tummy has been grumbling all morning, but I’ve barely had time to eat between writing memos and e-mails. Being kept from food does not a happy Meghann make!

I did squeeze in a VitaTop Muffin Top around 10:30.

And had a very late – for me – lunch after 1:00.

A big salad with all the fixins!

And my last bread butt with Pumpkin Butter.

Now, I must rush off to get even more work done before the MANDATORY office ice cream social at 3:00. I know – it’s a hard life. :P

Ali’s First Half Marathon

Hi! I’m Ali from Ali on the Run: http://aliontherun.wordpress.com/

To summarize my story: I grew up as a dancer, not a runner! When I started running (because I was living in NYC and was too poor to afford a gym membership) I could only run six blocks before stopping. I grew up with Crohn’s Disease (still have it), so when I saw an ad in the NYC free paper for Team Challenge, which is similar to Team in Training but the money raised goes to research for Crohn’s & Colitis, I signed up.

Suddenly running became a huge part of my life. I spent a few months training with the team and raising money (I raised $4,600 that season) and successfully completed the Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon in July 2009. The course was incredibly hilly and the temperature got up to 90 degrees that day. But I didn’t mind. I loved the rush I got.

After that I was hooked. I ran another 1/2 with Team Challenge that following December, then ran the New York City 1/2 Marathon in March 2010. Now, because of all the inspiration I’ve received from reading so many blogs recently, I’m contemplating training for a full marathon next year. Exciting!

Recovering Slowly

December 8, 2010

My body is still recovering from Sunday’s race. I’m letting it take its time and listening to cues on when it’s ready to move on. For instance this morning my body told me stairs are still a bad idea – why do I live on the second story again? – but a nice walk on more »
