Hi, My Name is Meghann

Whoa!

Now that was an odd day.

First of all, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the countless number of comments, e-mails, tweets, Facebook messages, etc. The support I have received in the last 24 hours has been overwelming. I was brought to tears several times today and touched by all the lovely, personal responses.

Again.. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

Basically the majority of my day was spent reading comment after comment and rebuttal after rebuttal. I now have a countless amount of topics I would love to start blogging discussions about, but for now my brain has turned to mush. It’s fried – I have nothing left!

So instead of starting those discussions tonight, I am just going to keep doing what I’m doing. Like, training for my MARATHON or eating delicious, healthy food. ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s hard to believe I’m in my final week of marathon training. The time has flown by and I’m both excited and nervous for the week ahead.

Running will be light this week. There are 3 days of running on my training plan and then it’s the big day on Sunday. Eekk!!! Can’t wait!

Kelly and I are planning a meet up on Saturday before the race. If you are running the Chicago Marathon and want to meet up for Ice Cream or Fro Yo Saturday afternoon please send me an e-mail at mealsanndmiles@gmail.com ๐Ÿ™‚

This morning was a quick 4 miler. Thanks to the Marie Claire article I had energy to burn and surprisingly held 8:30 min/miles with ease for those 4 miles. It’s amazing how mental distractions make us run faster without even trying. ๐Ÿ˜‰

After the run I dug into a big bowl of cereal for breakfast.

  • 1/2 cup Greenwise Flakes
  • 1/2 cup Kix
  • 1/3 cup Attune Apple Cinnamon Munch Granola
  • Plain yogurt
  • Almond Butter
  • Peach

In case you were wondering I licked my bowl clean and had small handfuls of cereal as I filled my bowl. I always have small handfuls. It taste better out of the box then out of the bowl anyways. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The morning got away from me. Between catching up on e-mails from the weekend, to explaining the article situation to countless co-workers, I didn’t believe it when my clock told me it was time to head home for lunch.

I made a vegetable/ hummus sandwich with hummus, blue cheese, tomato, kale, carrot, and mushrooms on whole wheat bread.

And an apple with almond butter.

Yes, it was *gasp* a meal of vegetables. But you see that bread? That’s ‘real bread’ and you see that almond butter? it’s ‘real almond butter.’ Just sayin. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yoga was a much needed de-stresser this evening. I haven’t been in a week and needed an outlet to decompress and just let it all go. I left feeling light and mellow – yoga, I love you. ๐Ÿ™‚

My sister had mentioned Massaged Kale this past weekend and it has been on my mind ever since. Massaged kale is where you massage kale with olive oil and vinegar then you let it marinade for a few hour in the fridge. I had massaged the kale at lunch time and topped it with some nuts, tomato, mushrooms, raisins, and two hard boiled eggs after my class. It’s delicious. ๐Ÿ™‚

I debated how I was going to respond to this and in the end decided honesty was the best policy. Here goes nothing. An article came out this weekend that Kath, Heather, Caitlin, Jenna, Tina,  and I  have been on the look out for a couple of months now. We had a feeling it wasnโ€™t more ยป
