I was born to do 10-10-10
Running it 45,000 Friends
You only get one shot at these moments
Guess what, it’s our time to own it
All the blood, the sweat the tears
I can’t believe that we’re finally here
So close I can taste the finish line
It’s our race, our dream, our time
Love it!
If that song and video doesn’t get you pumped up for a marathon, then I don’t know what will.
This morning was my last double digit run before Chicago next week. A week from tomorrow I will be at the starting line preparing to run 26.2 with 45,000 of my closest friends. This morning I was standing at my sister’s house preparing to run 10 miles with Kelly and our friend Sara.
The three of us will all be running Chicago next week and basically spent all 10 miles going every last detail leading up to the race. We discussed flights, shirts, the expo, potential meet ups, our race goals, and so much more. It was fun to go over nothing, but race talk with two girls who are just as excited for next weekend as I am!
Next weekend is going to be fun! I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!
With all the chit-chat the 10 miles flew by. We were done in about an hour and a half and all agreed that we wished it had been longer – we were having so much fun!
After the 10 miles I raced home to make a delicious Chocolate – Pumpkin – Peanut Butter Smoothie in a Bowl for breakfast.

In the blender I had:
- Canned Pumpkin
- Ice
- Plain Yogurt
- Almond Milk
- Pumpkin Spice
- Vanilla Extract
- Vega Chocolate Protein Powder
- TJ’s Peanut Flour
Toppings:
- Uncle Sam’s Cereal
- Attune Chocolate Munch
- Raisins

The Chocolate + Pumpkin + Peanut Butter combination was delicious. It’s a richer flavor over the typical fruit based smoothie and seemed more meal like to me.

Derek’s Big Night!
Tonight at 10:00pm Derek will be running his FIRST half marathon!!!
A million THANKS to everyone who donated towards Derek’s Multiple Sclerosis Fundraising Page. The $850 he raised truly is going to a great cause!
Tonight’s race is the inaugural run of Disney’s Wine & DIne Half Marathon. The race begins at 10:00 pm (crazy, right?) and Derek hopes to finish in under 2.5 hours. My fingers are crossed!
If you would like to track Derek in tonight’s race you can go here and search for the name Derek Russell.
Kelly and I will be volunteering at the race tonight. If you’re running be sure to look for us at the first relay hand off point!
Alright, let’s show Derek some love. He’s a bit nervous tonight, but I know he can do it!
Goooooooooo DEREK!!!!

Love the song. Good luck, Derek, and great job on raising that money. Awesome job.
Hooray for Derek!
I wish I had girlfriends here I could commiserate with about Chicago! I am so, so nervous but don’t have anyone to talk things through with.
Did you know runner tracking via text is available now for free? http://www.textinterface.com/pls/text/TF_BACM_DT

I spotted you this morning! Actually, I spotted your sister as I was driving to Blanchard. I was running a much slower 5k and wondered how many miles you ladies were conquering. Good luck in Chicago!
Good luck Derek! I’m running my first half marathon this weekend too, but it’s tomorrow morning. Although with the time difference between east coast and west coast, our start times will only be about 12 hours apart!
And really, good luck to *everyone* racing this weekend and next!
I’ll be looking for you ladies as I’m trudging along the course and good luck to Derek!
I can’t believe the race starts that late! I wouldn’t be able to do it. I’ve heard its a fun event though. Good luck to him!!

I ran Chicago a few years ago and absolutely loved it!! Such a fun city to run through and so many encouraging spectators! Best of luck, you will have a blast! Enjoy tonight
Good luck, Derek!
I’m running the Disney Wine & Dine Half too!! It’s my first 1/2, and I’m terrified. haha I hope it goes well though!
Wow…45,000 runners. And I thought the 18,600 that registered for the Philly Rock n’ Roll half was big!!
Good luck to your boyfriend on his first half. I read about that one and it sounded fun! My in-laws live down there about an hour from Disney, and if it lined up with a school vacation, I would have considered it. I kind of like the idea of a race that starts at night!
Your smoothie-in-a-bowl looks delicious. I have never tried Peanut Flour before.

Derek, best of luck to you. Thank you for supporing the effort to learn more about MS, improve the quality of life for those of us living with the disease & raising awareness.
You will great, be sure to give it hell. If at any point you find yourself struggling, think of all the people who can not run because of MS. I am cheering for you & you are going to do great!!!
yay, go Derek!
I love running with you and Kelly!
I love the song. What an awesome way to describe how it feels!
