I Like Candy Bars

by Meghann on September 27, 2010

Lie: All natural energy bars are the most amazing thing in the world and I could eat one every day and not bat an eye.

Truth: I prefer bars that taste like candy bars.

Yes, I do tolerate and sometimes enjoy bars that taste like grass, but when i comes down to it give me chocolate, give me peanut butter, and for goodness sakes give me some sugar!

Those are the bars that make me swoon.

And the new-to-me Honey Stinger Peanut Butter ‘n Honey bar I tried for the first time this afternoon definitely made me swoon.

I stocked up on fun new bars and goos at Track Shack on Friday and this Honey Stinger Bar made the cut.

It was chocolately, peanut-ty, and tasted like a straight up Snickers bar. A candy bar in the middle of the afternoon? What could be better?

I know. I know. There’s a reason why this bar taste is so delicious.

I believe the 17 grams of sugar is a good place to start.

Le sigh.

Still, it was a nice treat and really did give me a nice boost of energy before hot yoga this evening. I would purchase another one in a heart beat for a special treat, but I wouldn’t eat one every day. I suppose the ‘grass bars’ are more suitable for that. Oh well.

Hot Yoga was a necessity tonight. My IT bands felt extremely tight for some reason today. I could especially feel it going up and down stairs. I need to invest in a good foam roller, but yoga was a great a stretching substitute.

Yoga isn’t just about stretching – yoga is about friends! After tweeting back and forth with Raya for months it was nice to accidentally bump into her at Orlando Power Yoga tonight. It’s a small Orlando after all.

Post-Yoga dinner was what I like to call “Fall in a Bowl”

Have you noticed I have a sweet tooth? Because I do and I am not ashamed! :)

Photo Fun!

Remember that amazing fountain photo Derek and I took before dinner in Ft. Lauderdale the other week?

It’s a great photo, but it needed some work. Luckily, the very talented Macey had e-mailed me and offered to give the photo a quick once over.

The results were amazing! She sent me two options, but I can’t decide which one to blow up.

What do you think? Should I choose….

Orlando Happenings

by Meghann on September 27, 2010

You know what I like about Monday mornings?

IMG_1128

Mondays are rest mornings. Which means sleeping in, taking my time getting dressed, watching tv, and enjoying a big bowl of cereal at my leisure.

Pumpkin Pie Cereal

  • 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean Crunch
  • 1/2 cup Kix
  • 1/4 cup Attune Maple Nut Munch Granola
  • Plain Yogurt
  • Pumpkin
  • Pumpkin Spice
  • Raisins
  • 1/2 Apple

The best is when you get a little bite of everything in each spoonful.

Morning snack: Grapes + Cheese

Lunch: Leftover Shrimp Gumbo

IMG_1149

I had a couple of bites of the gumbo straight from the fridge and it was just as delicious cold as it was piping hot out of the microwave. The gumbo and bread were also very filling. I felt stuffed to the max after lunch.

Well… not to the max, per se, I still had room for a Dark Chocolate Gummy Bear Cup.

Dark Chocolate and Gummy Bearss is definitely a DO! ;)

In case you missed it:

One fun weekend behind me and another fun week up ahead! Wednesday I leave for Keystone until Friday. Then I’ll be race volunteering and eating my way through Disney at the Food & Wine Festival next weekend.

Things to See and Do in Orlando this Fall

I’m pretty bummed that I’ll be out of town most weekends in the next couple of months because there are a lot of cool things coming to Orlando.

If you’re a local  – be sure to check out a few of these events out in my absence
