I’ll have the burger, minus the burger

Let me introduce you to my desk for the day.

I can’t complain too bad though because right outside was this.

I’m not sure I will ever get over how beautiful it is here.

The morning conference sessions went by quickly (thanks to a couple of outside breaks thrown in there ;) )

For lunch they had a salad and sandwich bar set up where I was able to grab a little of this and a little of that.

The talk of the lunch hour was the giant WARM cookies set out.

IMAG0225.jpg

I ate 1/2 and enjoyed every melty bite. :)

My neighbor was pulling people in with a giant bowl of candy all afternoon.

IMG_1484.JPG

Not just any candy either, he had the good stuff. Snickers, M&Ms, Butterfingers, Ghiradelli Chocolates, etc. he knew how to sell it right.

At some point during the afternoon he was able to sell me too with a Dark Chocolate Ghirardelli bar.

I need to remember a bowl of candy for my next conference.

I’ve had a lot of down time this conference and I’ve really been enjoying it. I was able to both explore the surrounding area and was able to get a lot of work done via e-mails and phone calls. I probably got more work this afternoon working at my booth than I would of working at my desk with all the distractions.

By the time the conference ended around 4:00 I was wiped. the lack of sleep and altitude was really catching up with me. Luckily, my boss was feeling the same way and we both agreed an early dinner was a necessity.

We hopped in the rental car and headed to the nearby town of Dillion for a quick bite to eat at the recommended Red Mountain Grill.

We sat outside and took advantage of the 2 for 1 Happy Hour. I had 2 Fate Tires – one before dinner and one with dinner.

We also dug into the Chips and Salsa while deciding what to order.

The menu was very meat heavy and for some reason I just wasn’t feeling the meat. Instead of settling with something I didn’t want, I took matters into my own hands and ordered the all-american burger with the works, minus the burger.

IMG_1503.JPG

My ‘burger’ came with guacamole, cheese, onions, mushrooms, tomato, pickles, and lettuce and an order of fries.

IMG_1505.JPG

The sandwich was so filling on it’s own that I honestly didn’t even miss the burger. It was perfect and exactly what I needed. :)

IMG_1514.jpg

The early dinner meant we were home before the sunset. Works for me. I’m currently chilling in front of the TV with a gigantic glass of water and the new Grey’s. Life is good.

Hopefully I’ll have a better night of sleep tonight.*fingers crossed*

A Sunrise Run in the Mountains

by Meghann on September 30, 2010

Good Morning Keystone.

I may or may not be a little obsessed with the view from my room. Why can’t I wake up to this beauty every morning? :)

Don’t let the sunrise shots fool ya. I was WIDE AWAKE at 4:00am this morning. Despite being very, very tired I had an awful time falling asleep last night. It was warm in my room and my mind just wouldn’t calm down. Once I did fall asleep I kept waking up throughout the night, until I finally said screw it and got out of be at 4:00 (6:00 EST).

It wasn’t too bad though. I was able to get a lot of work done between the hours of 4:00 and 5:30 and had plenty of time to pump myself up for my sunrise run in the mountains.

IMG_1470.jpg

I haven’t had to pull out my cold weather running gear in MONTHS. It felt strange to put a jacket on before I went out the door.

I found a fun path outside of my condo that took me to the ski area of the mountain. It was kind of erie to see a brown mountain covered with empty chair lifts and exposed ‘magic carpet’ mats. All the ski shops were in shambles in the inside with last season’s equipment being replaced with the newest thing for next season.

It was very quiet and lonely. Not the Keystone I’ve grown to know and love over the years. This early morning out of season mountain was completely different.

My garmin was being wonky, so I have no idea how far I ran. Maybe 3 miles? They were slow miles. I was cold and having trouble catching my breath in the thin air. Instead of focusing on speed I took my time and just took in all my surroundings.

After my run I was able to take my time showering, doing my hair (yay – good curling weather!), and preparing for my day at the conference.

There was a continental buffet set up for breakfast that consisted of fruit, pastries, and donuts. I made a plate of fresh fruit (x2) and a cinnamon apple pastry.

IMAG0215.jpg

My breakfast needed something substantial or I knew I was going to starve. Thankfully I had an emergency Larabar in my purse to pair with it.

I have a full day of conference events ahead of me. Best get to it!

Airplane Blogging… again

September 29, 2010

Good Morning! Please excuse the ‘I’ve been up since 4:00am’ bags under my eyes. Wearing make up has never been my strong suit. I’m much more of an ‘au natural’ girl. Take me as I am – bags and all. Another week, another post from 30,00 ft up in the air. How many airplane posts more »
