I found them!

by Meghann on August 30, 2010

I found them! I found them! I found them! :)

This weekend I about squealed in Whole Foods when I discovered the elusive Chocolate Chip Brownie, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Larabars on the shelves. I happily snatched up one of each and plan to slowly make my way through the stash this week.

Starting with the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip

I nibbled on the bar during an afternoon meeting, so I apologize for not having a photo of the what the actual bar look likes, but if you can picture the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Larabar with chocolate chips then I think you’d get the idea.

I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting much from the ‘chocolate chips’ dispersed through the bar. In my mind I had pictured bitter cacao nibs that I believe would have took away from the yummy, creamy peanut butter, but thankfully that’s not what I got. Instead of the bitter cacao nibs, my mouth was greeted with real chocolate chips that were sweet, melty, and delicious. :)

One bite into the bar and I was sold. Sweet crunchy peanut butter with chocolate chips? What’s not to love?

I have a new favorite Larabar! I can’t wait to try the rest.

Working ten hour days is tough! By the time the clock struck 6 I was more than ready to head home and more than ready to eat a big, hot bowl of food.

I began prepping dinner almost as soon as I walked in the door. I made sure to turn the oven on before I even let Maddie out of the crate and took her outside. :)

Dinner was relatively simple due to my absence of creative juices.

It really doesn’t get much simpler than roasted yucca and eggplant with marinara sauce.

I tried to cook the broccoli rabe on the stove top, but it wasn’t cooking fast enough for me. I ended up throwing it in the oven for the last five minutes to get the chewy, wilted effect I was going for.

Quick dinner to make, easy meal to eat.

I had four Thin Mints for dessert.

And tomorrow it starts all over again. Ughh… Is it Friday yet? ;)

Good Night!!

Just add it to the queue

by Meghann on August 30, 2010

Whoa! It looks like there are a lot of Modern Family fans out there!

Truthfully I have never seen an episode! I guess that’s what Netflix is for, right?

As soon as it’s released I promise to fill everyone in with my full review of show. :) According to all the positive reviews in the comments this morning, it looks like this is going to be a good one. :)

I also added Mad Men to my queue. I hate to admit it, but I have never seen that show either. :/ I guess I’ve been missing out!

Do awards shows inspire anyone else to add shows to their DVRs or movies to their Netflix queue? Award season gets me every time with this!

It also leaves me to obsessively check imdb.com for the next several days. When reviewing the highlights of the show or it’s fashion, I like to learn why so and so is even on the Red Carpet in the first place. I’m apparently very behind when it comes to who’s who on what shows. ;)

The morning moved along at a surprisingly great pace for a Monday.

I snacked on some mixed nuts earlier in the morning.

In order to catch our plane to NYC on Friday, I will be working 10 hour days at work this week, which mean lunch will need to be inhaled at my desk instead of on my comfy living room couch.

I had some extra time last night and thought I would get a jump start on my lunch for today. I set the oven to 415 and put a sweet potato on the oven rack to bake while I blogged and watched tv. Two hours later I smelled something burning and realized I had forgotten the sweet potato in the oven. Oopss…

The skin was really crispy, but the inside seemed fine. I topped the sweet potato with some black beans and feta cheese then set it in the fridge for lunch today. I had no back up plan, so I was a little scared to sweet potato would be way to dry for lunch today. Fortunately everything was fine. The sweet potato was extra mushy and delicious and any dryness was covered up by the moist black beans.

On the side I had a thing of applesauce and one Adora disc.

The sweet applesauce was the perfect palate cleanser between bites of savory beans.

Adora was the perfect dessert.

Co-worker: “ Are you drinking a soda?”

Me: “No, La Croix”

Co-worker: (big sigh of relief) “Good, I thought had jumped off the deep end for a moment there:
