Another Smoothie Dinner

by Meghann on August 24, 2010

Pulling out the blender for dinner can only mean one thing…

I went to Hot Yoga this evening and all I wanted when I came home was a cool and refreshing smoothie. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Smoothies for dinner have sort of turned into my favorite Hot Yoga treat. I’m addicted and I just can’t stop.

Tonight’s creation:

  • Frozen Mango
  • Frozen Pineapple
  • Ice
  • Almond Milk
  • Kale
  • Flax Seed
  • Peanut Butter
  • Xanthum Gum
  • Vega Tropical Tango Shake & Go <— HLS freebie

I only added a couple of spoonfuls of the tropical Vega mix and it was very tropical-ly. I think I prefer the chocolate vega mix over the tropical version. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • GIngerbread Granola
  • Chocolate Granola
  • Mixed Nuts

The toppings are the best part, right?

Before hot yoga I had an AllieBar.

Dessert this evening was a cookie.

It was nice and fudgy, but a little smaller than I was expecting.

Time to crash in front of the tv with a cheesy Lifetime movie. Will she keep the baby? Will her father disown her? *gasp* I’m about to find out.

Good Night!

Do you make your own granola? If not, what brand is it?

2 Meghann August 25, 2010 at 9:23 am

This was a mix of the Attune Chocolate Munch Granola and some off brand Gingerbread Granola ( can’t remember the name off the top of my head) that I found at my local health store

I hate to admit this but… I watched the new Lifetime movie last night. I was suckered in because the main actress was from Grey’s and the main actor from Heroes.

4 Sana August 24, 2010 at 9:28 pm

My brother watches them with me! They are not all so bad!

5 Bec August 24, 2010 at 9:24 pm

My go to treat after hot yoga is orange juice, it refreshes me like no other!

6 Sana August 24, 2010 at 9:25 pm

Don’t lie you totally get hooked into Lifetime movies!!

7 gloriousgreens August 24, 2010 at 9:26 pm

I was just wondering the same thing..what kind/brand of granola do you typically buy?

8 Emilyeatsclean August 24, 2010 at 9:26 pm

Mmmm that smoothie looks delish! Is the granola you use packed with calories?? I can’t seem to find one that isn’t overloaded with cals.

9 Meghann August 25, 2010 at 9:24 am

I believe each type of granola had about 220 calories per 1/2 cup serving and I used 1/4 cup from each bag. Granola is pretty hefty with calories which is why I try to limit my serving size of it. ๐Ÿ™‚ All in moderation, right?

YUM, that smoothie dinner sounds great!

11 runningwithsass August 24, 2010 at 9:59 pm

cheesy lifetime movies are the best! have fun

12 Krystina August 24, 2010 at 10:02 pm

Gingerbread granola?! Yum! What brand?

13 Meghann August 25, 2010 at 9:26 am

Sorry – don’t know the brand. I bought it at a local health store though.

14 Chelsea @ Strawberry Sweat August 24, 2010 at 10:05 pm

Smoothie looks good. Why do you add xantham gum to it?

Also, please post the name of the gingerbread granola!

15 Meghann August 25, 2010 at 9:25 am

It makes the smoothie a little creamier so it’s easy to eat out of a bowl with a spoon. ๐Ÿ™‚

And gotta love cheesy Lifetime movies with terrible acting. I like “Mom at 16”. It’s *SO* unpredictable!! Not…

17 Rachael August 24, 2010 at 10:46 pm

Post-Bikram, I always find myself with an intense craving for lime. Cold lime. And frozen-ness in general……lime seltzer and frozen cherries is a frequent choice.
Ah, can’t help but get sucked in with that kind of melodrama…cue dramatic music!

18 Meg August 24, 2010 at 10:54 pm

LOVE smoothies. So perfect for a summer dinner, or anytime ๐Ÿ˜€

19 Shanna, like Banana August 24, 2010 at 11:10 pm

I should really try the smoothie in a bowl idea…I always slurp them in my glasses too fast!

20 Meghann August 25, 2010 at 9:26 am

that’s exacatly why i started eating them from a bowl with a tiny smooth. Plus it feels much more like a meal that way ๐Ÿ™‚

21 eatmovewrite August 24, 2010 at 11:31 pm

lol. You’ve got to love Lifetime. Nothing like thoughtless entertaining to completely get you read for bed.

I’m not sure I could have just a smoothie for dinner, but it definitely looked good.

Hot yoga + Smoothies = Happiness in life!

23 jennylikestorun August 25, 2010 at 2:56 am

Smoothies are the BEST! My mum and I share one for breakfast every morning, they’re the ultimate energy food.
I’ve never thought to add toppings though, looks like that’s something I’ll have to try. I’m always open to new ideas!

24 CoupMe August 25, 2010 at 10:46 am

Mmmm smoothie looks great! I’ve never added Kale to a smoothie before though…interesting. I think I should try it out! Usually I stick with tons of fruit, soy or skim milk and some greek yogurt with flax seed oil. But kale and veggies could add a whole different flavor. YUM!

Smoothies are so yummy! They just don’t keep me full very long so I don’t think I could have one for dinner ๐Ÿ™

27 postcollegecook August 25, 2010 at 11:24 pm

I think I am the only one who didn’t get any Vega mixes in my HLS sway bag ๐Ÿ™ Looks delicious though!

28 Stephanie Taylor August 26, 2010 at 2:45 pm

Good God… This smoothie looks sooo delicious. And when you added mixed nuts topping… Looks so yummy. By the way, Tropical Tango Shake & Go – the best taste ever.
