Glo Bars, Fro Yo, & Wild Hogs – Oh My!

by Meghann on August 19, 2010

I have to be honest here.

Though I love Glo Bars (and Angela) to death, they just can’t compare to my new love for AllieBars.

The Empower Bar (from the HLS swag bag) was ok, but – like I said – compared to the AlliBar it just couldn’t compete as my snack this afternoon. The flavor was there, but the texture was off. It was a little tougher to chew and missed that sweet, melt in your mouth quality I’ve been spoiled with.

But, that’s just my two cents. To each their own. :)

P.S. I’m a BIG fan of the Peanut Butter Glo Bars and if that were to enter the competition I’m not sure which one would win. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Perhaps another battle?

Maddie had a minor allergic reaction to one of her shots this afternoon. Her left shoulder was swollen and irritated when I got home and she would not stop scratching it! Luckily my vet is awesome and told me to bring her right in. He quickly gave her some benedryl and the swelling went down immediately.

Poor girl. She just couldn’t catch a break with shots today!

Dinner this evening was light and veggie-ful.

I roasted a parsnip, brussel sprouts, mushrooms, onion, and radishes for 20 minutes then drizzled them with some bbq sauce and cheese.

I am a big believe that bbq sauce can go on anything, but I think it works really well with roasted vegetables. I think the combination of the earthy flavors of the roasted veggies and the sweetness of the bbq sauce complement each other perfectly.

On the other side of the bowl some kale that I steamed by microwaving a bunch with a little water for about 30 seconds.

Plenty of veggies and plenty of flavors. ‘Twas one delicious meal.

Unfortunately the Pinkberry Grand Opening Party was a bust this evening. :(

Big crowds + too small ‘free’ servings of fro-yos + rain + friends = we decided to pay for fro-yo else where instead. :)

Menci’s rules, Pinkberry Drools

I was sad they didn’t have the Dole Pineapple Whip, but I still made it work. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Friends (minus Katy)

My parent’s had a wild hog in their yard this afternoon.

You know you live in the country when… ๐Ÿ˜‰

What’s the most random animal you’ve had show up in your yard?

One time we had an alligator in our pool.

Actually, we’ve had an alligator in our pool twice since first moving in 10 years ago. Crazy, right?

Maddie the Superstar

Maddie was a champ at the vetโ€™s office this morning. Minus a small accident involving a nervous stomach and the vet office floor โ€“ ummโ€ฆ sorry about that again Dr. Hart โ€“ Maddie took all her shots in stride. And left with a smile. Can you believe my baby weighed in this morning at 12.7 more ยป
