I Need to Find a Dry Erase Board

by Meghann on August 11, 2010

Admit it – how many of you fell for this hoax yesterday?

(In case you’ve never seen this before I would suggest checking out the full story here. Hoax or not the concept is pretty hilarious.)

And for those of you who were unaware, yes it was a hoax. (Full story here) The girl was actually a paid actress and the whole concept was dreamt up by the team who runs thechive.com (a website I had never heard of before yesterday)

It’s pretty amazing how one story like the one above can go viral so quickly. The article claimed the photos were posted at 4:30 in the morning and in no time the team watched as their hourly hits jumped from 15,000 to 430,000. Crazy, right?  Not to mention the thousands of tweets and shared Facebook links that were tracked as well!

It’s the power of social media – it’s a a strong one.

Now I just need to come up with something just as hilarious and original to take advantage of that power. Hmm…. I’ll get back to you on that one. 😉

Anyways… I only kid in the title (maybe 😉 )

Work has been bueno and a little less stressful then yesterday ( breaths sign of relief)

This morning I had a serving of mixed nuts and cereal as a snack.

And lunch was quick and easy because I thought I only had 20 minutes to eat.

Last night I made a left over tofu wrap with spinach, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, and bbq sauce.

It was quick to make and easy to eat while checking e-mails.

I also had a big juicy peach.

Also, easy to eat while checking e-mails.

Peace out!

Have a good afternoon 🙂

I kind of fell for it, but all along thought it might have been a hoax.

You’re right though- the power of social media is so crazy. A good, creative idea can go viral so quickly. Let’s brainstorm something and get rich!! 🙂

Loved it! This girl probably never thought she would get that much attention! Catch your 15 minutes of fame girl!

I totally fell for it. I think I wanted to believe it bc I had a really crappy boss once. I’m a little disappointed.

That wrap looks awesome though!

I totally fell for it because I wanted to believe it. Such a great story and brokers (at least most brokers in NYC) are jerks so I wanted to believe it even more. Your lunch looks tasty, I need to start using leftovers more often. No reason that food should go to waste!

I totally fell for it. But it was hilarious and ingenious on their part. Bravo to them for using social media to draw attention to themselves 🙂

8 Ali August 11, 2010 at 2:49 pm

Yup! I fell for it. Darn, I wish it was true- it was so funny.

9 Kelly August 11, 2010 at 2:54 pm

So sad when I found out it was a joke, that was awesome.

11 eatmovewrite August 11, 2010 at 3:31 pm

Lol. I didn’t see the story, but that’s hilarious. I’ve had some jobs where I would happily have done exactly that.

12 theprocessofhealing August 11, 2010 at 3:41 pm

I also fell for it, but I guess it was too good to be true. That picture of a peach is making me want one now! Too bad I don’t have any in the kitchen.

20 Nicole - yuppie yogini August 11, 2010 at 7:01 pm

That is crazy….but how exciting would it be for someone to actually quit that way 🙂

21 Silvina August 11, 2010 at 7:38 pm

Hey Meghann! You may know this already but in case you don’t – Lululemon is opening their store in Winter Park tomorrow! So excited! It’s on Orange by Fairbanks.

22 inmytummy August 11, 2010 at 10:13 pm

I think at least 10 of my friends posted that link on facebook. Seemed kind of coincendental that it was the same day as that Jet Blue quitting thing.
