08-09-10

by Meghann on August 9, 2010

Did you know today is 08-09-10?

I love dates that have fun patterns! I think that’s one of the reasons why I desperately wanted to run the Chicago Marathon this year. I mean, come on, it falls on 10-10-10 ! It’s fate, right?

My training schedule has once again been shifted thanks to my travel plans later on in the week, but that’s why I live by the rules of flexibility when training!

Instead of completing my fartlek tomorrow, I conquered it today. And instead of my Yasso on Thursday, I’m running it on Wednesday. Everything just got shifted back a day. 😉

I stepped up the fartlek this morning and did 5 one minute intervals at 8.5, then 5 more at 9.0. That’s two more intervals then I have been doing and .5 higher for the final 5.

Honestly, I wasn’t feeling the fartleks when I woke up this morning and was very close to canning the speed work out and just running around the block instead. But, I dragged myself to the gym anyways. Once I was on the treadmill I was instantly glad I had made the trip. I felt like a million bucks and the fartleks came easier and easier. I guess all this speedwork is starting to pay off?

My reward for a great speed session was a great breakfast.

I had a bowl of fruit with plain yogurt, peanut powder, and Kashi Flakes.

With two of last night’s Chai Tea Scones with jam.

You seriously need to make these scones. They were still just as moist, flavorful, and perfect as they were fresh out of the oven last night.

Today is actually my Wednesday (short week – woo hoo!), so I have a ton of work to tackle before the day is up. Here goes nothing!

Im going to come to Chicago that weekend to cheer on the runners 🙂 I wish I could run in it 🙁 but alas, healing injuries is on my to-do list at the moment!

Have a fabulous monday girly!

Good for you for sticking to your plan. That’s tough to do when you just want to take it for an easy run.

Flexibility is definitely key. I had to shuffle things around this week, too. Great job on the speedwork! Looking forward to running with you in Chi-town!

Sigh. I skipped this morning. I need to take all of you good people as motivation and get myself to a gym tonight!

A friend of a friend is getting married today @ 1:23pm. Hahaha.

Our wedding date was 06-07-08 ~ we didn’t plan this. Plus, we met in ’06, got engaged in ’07, and married in ’08. This was all coincidence!!

My sister’s birthday is actually on 10-10-10 this year and she was born at ten to ten, so it’s very cool!

I have 10-10-10 on my calendar this year since it’s my b-day and I figure it will be a good one. Would be a bit better if I were turning 10 or 30 but I’ll be happy with my actual age and plan something fun.
