PR Tacos & a Giveaway

by Meghann on July 7, 2010

I’m pretty sure it’s a general rule if your boss invites you out to lunch you have to accept, right?

At least that’s the thought that went through my head when the VP of marketing extended an invitation to join her for a bite to eat. I mean, who am I to turn down the VP? When she says jump – I say how high. 😉

Truth is I had this amazing lunch planned out in my head involving roasted figs and arugula that had me drooling most of the morning. Plus, I am a little burnt out on going out, but when she mentioned Mexican and the term ‘lunch meeting’ I couldn’t say no. I guess now I have an amazing dinner to look forward to. :)

We ended up at PR Tacos, which is a really great hole in the wall Mexican place down the street from our office.

I honestly can’t believe I’ve never been here before. The place was covered in signatures from thousands of customers over its 30 years in business and had a great hole in the wall charm to it that immediately made me think of my dad and how much he would love this place. Dad- next time you’re in town for lunch we’re heading here!

IMG_1425

The food wasn’t bad either!

The table started with chips and salsa.

IMG_1427

I’m not a big chip fan, but I had two hot chips with the medium salsa.

The menu was typical Mexican fare with a few twists thrown in. I was the most interested in the veggie options and how every menu item had the choice of containing chicken, beef, or veggies. When I asked the waitress what their veggies consisted of I was pleasantly surprised to hear the terms broccoli & cauliflower as opposed to the typical peppers and onions you find at more Mexican restaurants.

I ended up ordering the lunch combination with black beans & rice, veggie enchilada, and a veggie taco.

IMG_1430

Everything was perfectly portioned and tasted fantastic. The veggies were right on target – plentiful and green. My one gripe was how cheese covered everything on the plate. Next time I would ask for no cheese on the enchilada or on the black beans. Besides that, I can’t wait to return.

Earlier in the morning I snacked on a Peach.

6 Stephanie July 7, 2010 at 2:35 pm

I have finally pursued my goal of taking up yoga! I haven’t done it as often as I like, but I am so happy that I am actually taking real classes and I love it! I can’t wait for my class tomorrow 🙂

7 sweetersalt July 7, 2010 at 2:37 pm

I love biking in the summer to stay fit, it helps that my city is super hilly!

8 kirsten July 7, 2010 at 2:37 pm

11 Robin July 7, 2010 at 2:38 pm

My fun activity is taking care of my daughter along with some good stroller walks (when it isn’t boiling hot out like it is today!).

12 Jayce July 7, 2010 at 2:39 pm

I have switched up my running goals – instead of increasing distance in the warm weather, I am focusing on doing speedy shorter runs. I’ve already set a new 5K PR. 🙂

Insanity! Hardest thing I’ve ever done and I love it!

21 missyrayn July 7, 2010 at 2:44 pm

I have a leg injury so I’ve taken up swimming instead of my typical running.

22 Fervent Foodie July 7, 2010 at 2:44 pm

I started walking in the metro park with my sister! We get a couple miles in, and lots of chatting, so it makes for a good post-work activity 🙂

23 Jessica July 7, 2010 at 2:45 pm

Swimming is definitely the #1 way to stay active in the summer. Being by the beach or pool and playing volleyball or frisbee and then running into the water for a quick dip keeps the calories burning while you’re having fun.

24 tiny July 7, 2010 at 2:46 pm

I am currently training for a half marathon in September, so I’ve been running and taking boot camp classes. Heart diseases runs in both sides of my family so I try to make sure I stay active 🙂

25 Brooke July 7, 2010 at 2:46 pm

29 Laura July 7, 2010 at 2:51 pm

30 Amy @ Second City Randomness July 7, 2010 at 2:51 pm

I’ve become much more fond of yoga than I used to be… love using it to stretch out after a long run!

31 katie didit July 7, 2010 at 2:52 pm

I walk to and from work everyday! That’s 4 miles roundtrip!

32 Colleen July 7, 2010 at 2:53 pm

36 Sarah July 7, 2010 at 2:54 pm

BIKING. And I love it! My bike is red does that get me extra entries 😉

At the beginning of May I took my first Bikram class..omg! I love it..it’s challenging and exhausting and at the same time incredibly refreshing.

40 poiseinparma July 7, 2010 at 2:59 pm

It’s been a rough summer for my fitness activity levels, but I have found a new love for trail running. It’s so much easier on my legs!

41 Laura July 7, 2010 at 2:59 pm

I live in washington and this is the first nice week of weather we’ve had, there is a trail by my house that I just started running yesterday for the first time, I usually walk it because it has many hills but it felt so good to run it im going to make it a nightly event five days a week, if u ever visit Washington u need to run chambers!!! It has gorgeous views of the puguet sound and it surrounds a Scottish-links style golf course!

49 Stacey July 7, 2010 at 3:10 pm

I don’t think I’d turn down a free lunch either and you’ve found a nice little place to take your Dad now!

50 Kathryn July 7, 2010 at 3:12 pm

what a great giveaway 🙂 I’ve been going to a bootcamp near where I live! I’ve also started running outside but this crazy heat (and the huge hills by my house) make it hard!

51 Leigh July 7, 2010 at 3:13 pm

This summer I’ve taken up running…and trying to stick with it! I’ve got a wedding dress to fit into a month, so running will help!

i’ve started playing tennis with my husband!

53 jenny July 7, 2010 at 3:14 pm

I started a cardio kickboxing class with my mom and it’s pretty fun but reaalllyyy hard! The best part is that I get to spend time with my mom (and get my booty in shape) 😉

54 Maribeth July 7, 2010 at 3:14 pm

Meghann,

I’ve always hated running–just the thought of it made me want to gag! However, after I started reading your blog a few months ago, I became inspired to try it. I may not be fast, and I may not run far, but darn it, I love getting outside, smelling the fresh air, and movin’ my legs! I’d love to run some races one day–with enough training under me, of course. Go figure! 🙂

55 Jules July 7, 2010 at 3:15 pm

I love going to boxing class! It’s such a great workout for my arms, shoulders, core and even legs!

56 emily July 7, 2010 at 3:16 pm

I’ve been doing Jillian Michael’s “Making the Cut” to incorporate some new strength training moves into my boring old routine. It’s a pretty tough workout and it keeps me on my toes!

57 Dynamics July 7, 2010 at 3:17 pm

I just purchased a “step” and cannot wait to do some step aerobics. It looks like total fun. I need to find a beginner DVD/VCR to teach me the steps.

58 Mary July 7, 2010 at 3:18 pm

I went swimming camp 🙂

59 Jenny July 7, 2010 at 3:18 pm

Pilates! I thought it was something I could never take up because I’m not very flexible, but I’ve really enjoyed it so far.

60 Kate July 7, 2010 at 3:18 pm

I just got into HIIT and love how intense it is! I can get a great workout in a shorter amount of time and I love the results!

65 Erin July 7, 2010 at 3:22 pm

Mmmm, Mexican food. I love it but can’t have it for lunch. It makes me so sleepy!

I just recently got a brand new road bike and I’m in love with riding it. I almost wish I wasn’t marathon training so that I’d have more time to ride it!

66 Karla July 7, 2010 at 3:22 pm

Just this summer, I started doing yoga and it’s made a great difference in the tone and shape of my body. I am now a huge yoga fan! And, the added perk is the mind makeover it does too!

67 Britton July 7, 2010 at 3:24 pm

I rediscovered my love of swimming this summer! I avoided it for years because I wasn’t very fast (or very good at it) but now I’m obsessed! You don’t have to be good at something to enjoy it and get a great workout.

68 Tiffany July 7, 2010 at 3:25 pm

Zumba!

69 Casey July 7, 2010 at 3:25 pm

I’ve recently started throwing strength training into my running routine, and I love how the variety keeps me engaged and I love the effects on my body and my mind. 🙂

70 breakingsilence July 7, 2010 at 3:27 pm

I’ve been trying to incorporate a little bit of weight training into my summer workouts. I’m not doing major weights, because I don’t want to look like a dude, haha. Thankfully I found a little 2 lb weight that is perfect!

71 Courtney July 7, 2010 at 3:30 pm

I have been doing the 30 day shred and I am starting a Karate class tonight! Your lunch looks so good!

73 Chelsea July 7, 2010 at 3:33 pm

I usually run outdoors, but with my work schedule and the fact that it’s a billion degrees outside here in Texas, I’ve been trying out the local rock gym. It has over 30 different rock courses with various levels of difficulty. So much fun and a great workout!

74 Ali July 7, 2010 at 3:33 pm

You totally turned me on to hot yoga. I go once a week now!

75 Michele July 7, 2010 at 3:34 pm

104 Brittney July 7, 2010 at 4:31 pm

Running was my favorite activity of choice going into summer, but it’s been brutally hot lately and I am nursing a knee injury. Does consuming lots of banana soft serve count as a summer time activity??

105 Jenny July 7, 2010 at 4:41 pm

Rowing!
And hiking with our new dog!

106 Jaime July 7, 2010 at 4:42 pm

I am doing the 30 Day Shred, gotta love that Jillian Michaels.

115 Amanda July 7, 2010 at 4:59 pm

I’ve taken up running again after a 2 month hiatus! 🙂

116 Cait July 7, 2010 at 5:00 pm

this summer has been fun and healthy- my aunt and I went to a couple body pump classes, and we loved them , but they were too expensive and too far from where we live.

so, we asked around our extensive family tree and came up with some free weights and barbells, two steps and some wall mirrors. then we cleaned out her garage, and voila! garage body pump is a Saturday morning/Wednesday evening ritual that will be continued until I have to go to grad school in the fall.

117 Danielle July 7, 2010 at 5:00 pm

I really want to try a spin class. It intimidates me a bit but everyone that I’ve talked to about it absolutely loves it!

118 suzie franklin July 7, 2010 at 5:06 pm

I went Kayaking in Settle this past weekend and loved it so much I bought a kayak for back home in San Diego

120 Natalie (First Kitchen) July 7, 2010 at 5:10 pm

I just moved into a new apartment with bike trails everywhere, so I’ve been biking again, and it’s wonderful!

121 Amy July 7, 2010 at 5:10 pm

I have started cycling on my road bike while the heat is on. I love to go out early in the morning and ride about 12 to 13 miles and then follow that up with a 1.5 to 2 mile run. I have found that this is helping me to keep my mileage up while it is too hot to run the long distances. Can’t wait to see who wins!

122 JamieS49 July 7, 2010 at 5:10 pm

This summer I started running! Training for a half marathon in November 🙂 Love it!

I’ve started riding my bike to and from the gym daily. I call it my warm up or cool down before my actual cardio.

134 Erin July 7, 2010 at 5:45 pm

Oddly enough, cleaning! Getting down and really scrubbing something is hard work!

135 Courtney M. July 7, 2010 at 5:45 pm

I’ve never done any DVD workouts, besides trying the odd one here and there, but I’ve started doing Jillian’s Yoga Meltdown on days that I don’t go to the gym.
I like it for a quick 30 min. workout at home.

136 Christine July 7, 2010 at 5:46 pm

Since hurting my knee a few months ago I’ve picked up swimming!!

137 Emily H July 7, 2010 at 5:49 pm

I’ve started a really tough weight lifting regiment to add to my running. Good thing about weights is that the 100 degree weather can’t interfere!

138 Kiran July 7, 2010 at 5:54 pm

Asides yoga, I’ve started cycling and jumping ropes. Feel’s great 🙂 I just bought some weights and would begin weight training soon enough.

139 Kim July 7, 2010 at 5:55 pm

This summer I’ve started playing ultimate frisbee with my hubby and doing a weight-lifting class during my lunch hour at work! It’s been great to change it up!

140 Lisa @ bakebikeblog July 7, 2010 at 6:06 pm

oooh that Mexican place looks great! Sadly our fav Mexican restaurant closed down a whle back 🙁
It is Winter here – but during summer I am all about triathlons!

141 Kellie July 7, 2010 at 6:17 pm

I started spinning and it certainly gets my heart rate up!

142 Jessica July 7, 2010 at 6:23 pm

I took my first spin class this summer. I am almost 6 feet tall so I thought that the bikes would be too small for me but I got the courage to ask the instructor before class to help me set it….and I LOVED IT!!! Totally hooked now 🙂

143 Bianca July 7, 2010 at 6:24 pm

I started running this winter, but it has been tough for me to keep increasing distance and speed in the hot weather. This summer I started to add in a day of yoga and a day of some kind of strength training via exercise tv on demand.

144 Margaret July 7, 2010 at 6:25 pm

marathon training!

145 Antoinette July 7, 2010 at 6:45 pm

P90X and I start a 4 week boot camp on Monday!

146 Jennifer July 7, 2010 at 6:47 pm

I run, but was really lacking in any sort of strength exercises. So this summer I started the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred and I love it! It has really helped my endurance and I am noticing some changes in my body. I’m going to try her No more trouble zones DVD next!

147 Jennifer July 7, 2010 at 6:47 pm

Tennis!! My husband and I play now every chance we get!

148 hundredtenpounds July 7, 2010 at 6:49 pm

I love cycling now. And it’s even more fun to ride a bike to go out to eat! Burn calories and eat out at the same time! 🙂

149 Gina G July 7, 2010 at 6:51 pm

im starting tennis! i am usually a kickboxer….but i love being outside and want to try something new other than just going on walks like i usually do!

thanks girl! 🙂

150 Nicole P July 7, 2010 at 6:53 pm

I love walking my dogs outside?

151 Alicia July 7, 2010 at 6:53 pm

I’m falling back in love with running. I got new shoes for my birthday and I’m thinking about signing up for a race this fall.

152 Jul July 7, 2010 at 6:54 pm

<3 swimming!

153 amandapanda1981 July 7, 2010 at 6:55 pm

This summer I have been increasing my miles outside with running. I have been for the last year or so but have enjoyed running outside on the trail behind my condo.

154 courtney n July 7, 2010 at 6:58 pm

I’ve gotten into going to the gym on a more regular basis, its nice to exercise in the AC and not get as hot outdoors!

155 Astrid July 7, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Bosu class and tone class! And running after 2 kids as a nanny!

156 Crystal July 7, 2010 at 7:01 pm

I’m a triathlete, so I’m always busy swimming, biking, and running!

157 annalisa July 7, 2010 at 7:03 pm

Riding my bike outside!

158 Sarah (Enjoying One Meal at a Time) July 7, 2010 at 7:08 pm

Marathon training! My first one 🙂

159 Stacey July 7, 2010 at 7:10 pm

I’ve started doing the Cathe STS Mesocycle workouts – lifting heavier weights than in the past. It is really fun and I’m seeing results – plus it is a nice change from the pounding and high intesnity cardio of running.

160 Carrie July 7, 2010 at 7:24 pm

Walking my dogs as much as possible!!

161 Erin July 7, 2010 at 7:28 pm

Running outside again! I’ve had knee injuries in the past so I’m working my way up to my first 10k in the fall. 🙂

162 fitandfortysomething July 7, 2010 at 7:32 pm

Running is not new to me but running faster is! I have actually been training for races. And I actually got first in my age group this last weekend 🙂

163 Sara July 7, 2010 at 7:42 pm

This summer, I have started walking my dogs after dinner on the community trail near my house. The dogs always get so excited to go, and I do too 🙂

164 Kendra! July 7, 2010 at 7:47 pm

now that school’s out for the summer, i’ve been out dancing with my friends! a couple hours of dancing to 80s hits or the oldies works up a sweat and is a great night out with friends!

165 hlodonnell July 7, 2010 at 7:53 pm

This summer I have committed to spending more time chasing my son. I usually let him do all the running around and I watch from a comfy spot in the shade. But, why should he get to have all the fun? So, I’m running after him; and having a great time creating a summer’s worth of memories.

166 Lauren July 7, 2010 at 8:00 pm

I’ve definitely had to forgo many planned lunches for a business invite to lunch out.

I recently started taking a new Zumba class that I love!

167 Jess July 7, 2010 at 8:01 pm

I moved to a more walkable neighborhood!

I was frustrated where I lived for the past year: an apartment complex on a dangerous, hilly, dark, wooded street with no shoulders, frequent traffic, and no street lights. I love to run, walk, bike… anything that doesn’t require a car! I needed to move.

Now I live in a neighborhood that is more urban, which means it’s more walkable: sidewalks, streetlights, things to do and see that are within a mile or two (though most things are actually much closer than that!). Less driving = more walking/biking/running = a healthier me!

168 Heather July 7, 2010 at 8:04 pm

I recently took up running a couple of months ago! It’s sooo challenging but I love it. I like that you see improvements really quickly – I am training for an 8K race next month – eeek!

169 Joy July 7, 2010 at 8:15 pm

I’ve tried to start running (until I sprained my ankle). Hopefully I’ll be able to get back to it soon 🙂

170 Julie @ Pickley Pear July 7, 2010 at 8:20 pm

I’ve just started hot yoga and love it! I’m also running and doing more outside than before.

I love Mexican food! Does the VP know you write a food blog? She must see you taking pictures!

171 Jae July 7, 2010 at 8:23 pm

Yoga, biking, anddd powerwalking <3

172 Sue July 7, 2010 at 8:24 pm

175 Amy July 7, 2010 at 8:34 pm

Zumba and hiking out in beautiful Colorado where I’ve been living for the past 2 years 🙂

176 theprocessofhealing July 7, 2010 at 8:38 pm

I’m in LOVE with the elliptical. I know, I’m weird.

177 Cheryl H. July 7, 2010 at 8:46 pm

This summer I have taken up bike riding at sunset (when it’s cooler) and a bit of hiking.

178 Chasing the Now July 7, 2010 at 9:06 pm

I’m getting back to running after being injured! 🙂 It’s been great!

179 Rachel A July 7, 2010 at 9:16 pm

I am doing a 30 day yoga challenge, and I’m about one-third done. Loving it!

180 Donna July 7, 2010 at 9:22 pm

Me and Jillian Michaels dvd’s have become great friends over the summer! I have never been a dvd kind of girl, but my husbands work schedule prevents me from getting to the gym with three kids. I’m excited about this giveaway because I’m a HUGE fan of the American Heart Association. My father has had a heart attack and stroke…I joined Go Red a few years ago and even ran a marathon with the American Stroke Association (part of the AHA). Pick me!!!!!!

181 Crystal July 7, 2010 at 9:25 pm

I’ve started biking again. My toddler loves it and I figure with the extra weight from her and the seat I have to be burning extra calories.

182 carly July 7, 2010 at 9:37 pm

I would love to win this … I’ve been meaning to get a jump rope! My summer activity has definitely been swimming. I’m not a strong swimmer, but I’m going at least three times a week, and I’ve been getting way better. It’s way awesome! I’m going to have to join the YMCA in the winter so I can benefit from the indoor pool. 🙂

183 Raya July 7, 2010 at 9:47 pm

I’ve been taking new classes at my gym like spinning and bodypump. It’s a great way to start the day!

184 Lacey @ Lake Life July 7, 2010 at 10:13 pm

It may not be an activity I have JUST taken up this summer, but I spend my summer swimming, playing on jetskis and tubing behind boats. These activities are actually fun and effective workouts!

185 Brianna July 7, 2010 at 10:16 pm

I’m continuing my lifelong passion for horseback riding and I’ve recently started training to run a half marathon!

186 emily July 7, 2010 at 10:33 pm

i’m about to start hot yoga! can’t wait.

187 Emilyeatsclean July 7, 2010 at 10:44 pm

Insanity and PowerPump….they are working me out like crazy!!! 🙂

188 Danielle July 7, 2010 at 11:12 pm

I’ve started hiking – I get to see gorgeous sunrises while getting my workouts in!

189 Margaret July 7, 2010 at 11:40 pm

Well. Since I hurt my back 3 months ago, I can’t really do my weight lifting anymore. So I’ve started running and biking. I plan on starting to learn to swim in the fall to train for a triathlon.

190 Nancy July 7, 2010 at 11:51 pm

I’ve started to take my dog on long walks once a week (used to only do short ones throughout the day)…we explore new trails and routes through the neighborhood. I feel better knowing she is getting a good amount of exercise once a week 🙂

191 Taylor July 7, 2010 at 11:57 pm

I’ve recently begun to alternate my days with zumba (so much fun!), spinning classes (hard, but worth it!), and training for a 10k by following Hal Higdon’s running plan! I am honestly feeling the best I ever have, which is saying a lot since I have asthma!

192 Katie R July 8, 2010 at 12:13 am

I started taking hot yoga classes on a regular basis this summer, and I am having a blast. I love leaving class completely drenched in sweat. I even think its helped my tolerance of running outdoors in the heat 🙂

193 Fallon July 8, 2010 at 1:37 am

I recently starting doing a bootcamp class at my gym and love it!!

194 Lisa July 8, 2010 at 1:55 am

Joined a pool so I can work on my swimming. Last night got to 1,600meters – longest swim to date!

195 Jenny July 8, 2010 at 6:11 am

I took up pilates and found that exercise TV on demand has some great programs! I never thought such slow movements would create such lean muscles!!

196 Christina C July 8, 2010 at 6:46 am

I’ve started running in the mornings to avoid the intense heat!

197 Julia D. July 8, 2010 at 7:25 am

I’ve started taking strength training classes at my gym. Love them and I’m too embarrassed to leave when I’m struggling so it really pushes me!

198 Tammy July 8, 2010 at 7:34 am

I’m going to start riding my bike outdoors, I usually just ride my spin bike. I eventually hope to start riding to work!

199 sals July 8, 2010 at 7:36 am

I’ve been taking advantage of the nice weather to go bicycling!

200 Miranda July 8, 2010 at 8:10 am

Summertime is all about SWIMMING! 🙂

201 Crissy July 8, 2010 at 9:04 am

I have been quite the avid doggy paddler and recently have put an effort into learning how to be a better swimmer. This is also sparked by an interest in doing my first tri… altho, having no bike or the finances to purchase one right now makes that part difficult… thankfully, beaches and lakes are free for me to splash around in!

202 Lindsay July 8, 2010 at 9:10 am

What a great giveaway. As a 27 year old who has dealt with cardiac issues, this is near and dear to my heart! I joined the gym and have been loving adding strenght training into my routine.

203 Kara July 8, 2010 at 9:11 am

My boyfriend has finally talked me into playing golf with him this summer. And guess what… I love it! There’s also ways to sneak in a good workout while playing, especially when it involves walking parts of the course located in the north Georgia mountains!

204 Danielle July 8, 2010 at 9:17 am

I’ve taken up swimming this summer! I recently lost a lot of weight so this is the first summer I feel somewhat comfortable in a bathing suit at a public pool!

205 Yasmin July 8, 2010 at 9:32 am

This summer I started taking Kardio Kickbox classes. I love that adrenaline rush!

206 Jaala July 8, 2010 at 9:36 am

I’m training for two half marathons (both this fall), and am about to start Jillian Michaels 30 day shred!!!

207 kristin July 8, 2010 at 9:38 am

I’m a swimmer, through and through.

208 veganwhoopies July 8, 2010 at 9:38 am

I have been walking my dog after the sun goes down-usually we walk him everyday anyways but in this heat it is easy to want to skip it. So we have been making it a habit to go late at night!

209 SaraRM July 8, 2010 at 9:53 am

Lots and lots of speed training and love it! Its way too hot to do long distance right now and is definitely going to help when I start my marathon training in a few weeks!

210 Alexa July 8, 2010 at 9:54 am

I love water exercises this summer! Maybe going to Hawaii and the good workout I got in the ocean helped, but I’m loving me some time in the pool.

211 Anna @ oatsnboats July 8, 2010 at 10:03 am

I’m starting to do yoga sessions in my office during the lunch hour. It helps me with the rest of my day and gives a nice activity even though it’s hot outside.

Little known tidbit: the health of your gums is related to your cardiovascular health so make sure to floss daily to help maintain healthy gums.

212 laurenandtim July 8, 2010 at 10:05 am

I’ve been sticking with the gym! That’s new for me! It has been really nice with how hot it has been in PA lately!

213 Marissa July 8, 2010 at 10:06 am

Aw, my favorite part of Mexican food is that its smothered in cheese! What can I say. I love my dairy. ;]

214 Stephanie July 8, 2010 at 10:07 am

This is going to sound weird since most people hate them but strength training DVDs! I’m in love with how strong they make me feel!!

215 Beth G July 8, 2010 at 10:41 am

We’re trying to get out and hike more. We had no idea how many great places are within an hour drive of our house!

216 Paige July 8, 2010 at 10:55 am

I’ve started to stretch a lot more recently, and I’ve noticed an increase in my flexibility. Yay!

Can’t believe you only had TWO chips with salsa.

217 Ann July 8, 2010 at 11:06 am

I have taken up running this summer! It is such a fun challenge to increase my pace and distance.

218 Kim @ LEO the lion says GER July 8, 2010 at 11:32 am

I’ve decided to start walking to and from campus during my summer sessions! Fresh air and the light cardio will keep me awake during my classes.

219 Jessica M. July 8, 2010 at 11:44 am

I have taken to more outdoor walking and hiking! I love living in the mountains-summers are awesome!

220 Meg July 8, 2010 at 11:56 am

Wow – only a few minutes left! I clicked on your blog just in time 🙂 I’ve started playing softball in my church league this summer! So much fun (even though most of my teammates are old enough to be my mom!)

221 *Andrea* July 8, 2010 at 12:13 pm

this summer i started taking beginner hatha yoga classes at my gym! it was nerve-racking at first since i am soooo unflexible but i am loving it now

222 stacey July 8, 2010 at 12:44 pm

I’ve decided to take my biking up a notch and am training for the MS 150. I’m a little over 60 days away and am so nervous! I actually have a pretty big fear of riding my bike. I pushed myself through training for a couple triathlons and now I’m really facing my fears. I love it!

223 amelia July 8, 2010 at 12:44 pm

I’ve always been really into running but after a marathon I completed in October a running injury has kept me from doing all of the things I loved doing in the summer – running, hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
Because of this I got into yoga and more strength training. I still crave running but I like to think that practicing yoga and more strength training will help prevent more injuries once I’m running again.

224 cindy July 8, 2010 at 12:48 pm

I have taken up biking and walking during my lunch break at work.

225 sam July 8, 2010 at 12:52 pm

I have recently started to swim at our local YMCA and I love it!! California is great for all types of activities 🙂

226 jeri July 8, 2010 at 1:09 pm

I just bought a roadbike last weekend to help supplement my intense running schedule. I’m in looooooooooooove. 😀

227 Sasha July 8, 2010 at 1:24 pm

Hi,

I have fallen in love with Zumba this summer 😀 I love the way that people of all ages and all walks of life come and enjoy the classes. I’m considering becoming an instructor and hope to be able to have classes in the workplace so more people can become active 🙂 I would love to be able to use the jump rope and stretch band to exercise at home!

228 katie July 8, 2010 at 1:36 pm

i’ve actually started doing interval runs this summer. it definitely feels like the time goes by faster! i also like doing something fun outside like hiking, or playing soccer on the beach.

229 Rich July 8, 2010 at 10:11 pm

Running including a run across the Golden Gate while vacationing in San Fran that was motivated by this blog.
