Welcome to paradise. 🙂
As you can see Maddie is clearly in heaven… or not. 😉
BUT I swear she really is having a ball when I’m not threatening to bring her into the water.
GO MADDIE GO! 🙂
After a, hour and half delay, a 2 hour flight and a 2 hour drive I finally made it to Tampa in one piece last night. I was awake just long enough to give Derek and Maddie kisses hello before I passed the heck out.
Derek and I were on the road bright and early this morning. It was totally a coincidence that my DC trip fell the weekend before my family’s annual vacation (we were in NC last year!). But I’m kind of glad it worked out like that. It’s nice to have some time to relax after a crazy weekend. It’s strange to think I should be at work right now!
My Mom had two requirements when she was house hunting – 1. Wifi 2. Dog friendly! 🙂
On our way down the coast Derek and I split the last third of the scone from yesterday.
And made a pit stop at Panera where I had a multi grain bagel with egg and jelly.
My Mom found a great deal on a beautiful house located on a private island where cars are not allowed. We drove as far as we could before unloading the car and catching a ferry from the mainland to the island.
Maddie did great on the ferry. I was so proud of my mini sailor. 🙂
We had a couple of friendly faces waiting for us on the island. 🙂
This luggage was just for Derek and I. I could only imagine how much it was when the other 6 members of my family arrived on Saturday!
The house is breathtaking! I’ll have to take more interior shots, but check out the views!
And our private pool below!
The egg bagel was not filling at all. Once we arrived at the house I made a very filling snack of yogurt and berries with a sprinkle of crumbled chocolate chip cookies. (By the way Jacquie – My family LOVES your cookies!!)
Obviously we didn’t waste any time loading up and heading to the beach.
Unfortunately Scooby had a little run in with a hook.
Poor Scooby. 🙁
Dr. Josh performed quick surgery and Scooby walked away as good as new. He was a trooper and didn’t even yelp.
We’ve washed the wound and plan to watch it very closely as the week progresses. Scooby was very thankful when we all decided to come back to the AC for lunch.
It’s easy to build up an appetite in the water!
Food is a little pricey on the island, so you’ll be sure to see lots of homemade eats this week. I came fully prepared with a couple bags worth of ‘Meghann food’ for our stay. 🙂
For lunch I had two slices of Great Harvest Bread with almond butter and apple.
Fresh green beans
A small slice of left over pork from last night’s dinner.
We’re heading to the other cove now for a little fishing and dolphin spotting!
See ya on the flip side!
