A Leisurely Race Morning

by Meghann on June 5, 2010

This is weird.

It’s the day of a race and I’m in bed blogging about breakfast at 8:30 am and I still haven’t raced yet. Weird.

There could be worse things though like sleeping in and missing the race or worrying about getting enough sleep. None of those problems here. ๐Ÿ™‚

Plus, there are perks to a later start time. Such as homemade chocolate chip pancakes.

Leslie’s Mom made the three girls chocolate chip pancakes to fuel us through out marathon relay this morning.

Served with strawberries and grapes.

I’ve never had pancakes before a race before – usually they’re a post race treat – but I really enjoyed them this morning. Perhaps this could become a new thing? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Leslie’s shirt is adorable! Her team built their own on spreadshirt.com for like $20. I think for my next race I’m going to create a fun shirt on there to wear. My team ordered our shirts from a different company and they were a little pricier and not the most flattering. Oh well. Live and learn!

And we’re off!

Wish us luck!

Chocolate chip pancakes! I should try making those, protein-style. I made blueberry protein pancakes yesterday and they were delicious!

Good Luck! I agree it is weird to have extra time before a race!

Later race start times are fabulous. Especially since I usually have to drive at least an hour and leaving at 6.30 really kills me.

Yum… pancakes… one of my favorite things, after cake. It’s nice that you mixed them with something healthy (fruit)… I’m not sure I could be so good!
