Three Cheers for the Future Mrs. R!

by Meghann on May 30, 2010

No, not Kelly!

She had a little too excited modeling the plastic rings on the table. [hint, hint Anthony ๐Ÿ˜‰ ]

I meant three cheers for April!

The bridal shower was so much fun! April’s bridesmaids did a fantastic job throwing the tea party themed shower. I was able to take away a lot of great ideas for any bridal showers I may or may not host in the near future. [hint, hint again Anthony!]

The theme for the shower was ‘afternoon tea party.’ I thought tea party theme was cute and very fitting of April’s proper taste and style. The invitation requested all guests wear big hats and their Sunday best.

The maid of honor, Carissa, did an outstanding job on the food. She had out all my favorite tea time favorites including: scones, cucumber sandwiches, and chicken salad.

The tables were decorated with colorful flowers, tea pots, tea cups, and tea books.

Each table setting was marked with a personal flower pot and a tiny bridal box of skittles.

When time came for lunch I loaded my plate with a chicken salad sandwich, salad, chips & salsa, scones, and a cucumber sandwich. Yum!

On my dessert plates I had a piece of the amazing fruit tart, 2 cream puffs, and chocolate covered strawberries.

I went back for more of the fruit tart. I could have easily ate the whole tart – berries are my weakness. :)

One of my favorite parts of any bridal shower are the games you get to play. Especially the ‘how well do you know the bride/groom’ games – I’m sucker for fun trivia!

We played a purse game where we earned so many points for what items we had in our purse. Unfortunately I didn’t bring my purse, but I did have my camera bag! I have to say for just having my camera bag I did pretty good. My camera bag turns into my purse when I travel, so I had a lot of the random items such as advil, gum, business cards, etc in it. However, I still didn’t even begin to compete with some of the older ladies whose purses weigh more than I do. I guess I need to start carrying around an extra toothbrush, nail file, tweezers, and flashlight in my purse before I can even begin to compete!

We also split into four groups and competed in a toilet paper dress off.

Kelly made such a beautiful bride. [hint, hint Anthony!!]

Toilet paper walk off!

Even though my Mom was our direct competition, I have to say she made a pretty beautiful bride herself. :)

Present time!!!

Because really aren’t the presents the real reason anyone gets married anyways, right?!? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Kelly and I thought of a cute idea for our gift. We purchased a sexy negligee and a comfy set of pajamas. We put both in the bag and labeled the sexy negligee ‘For Him’ and the comfy pjs ‘For You’. :)

The party wrapped up around 5:00pm and Kelly, Mom, and I hit up a few stores before they closed at 6:00. Then we called the boys and asked if they wanted to meet us for dinner at Too Jays.

I ordered the baked tilapia which was served with a citrus salsa, steamed broccoli, and fresh fruit.

The dish came from the heart healthy side of the menu. It was very light and quite good. The perfect dinner out if you ask me. :)

On top of all the food mentioned above I also snuck a few more bites of scones, a bite of chocolate cake, and another creme puff. I feel like there may have been a bit of a sugar overload because I’m on the verge of entering a sugar coma. The thought of being in bed by 9:00 is very, very appealing.

I am such a party animal. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Oh well.

Good night!!

Want to know a secret? I miss marathon training! I miss getting up early on weekend mornings, taking off for a ridiculous double digit runs, and that amazing sense of accomplishment you feel afterwards. Don’t get me wrong I love the mix up of work outs I’ve been doing lately, but nothing will ever compare more ยป
