Gone Canoein'

by Meghann on May 29, 2010

Miles away from Disney World there exists a place in Central Florida that takes you away form the hustle and bustle of city life and brings you to the great beautiful outdoors. ๐Ÿ™‚

Wekiva River

You feel peaceful just looking at it right? ๐Ÿ™‚

My Dad had the brilliant idea of renting canoes and exploring the Wekiva River this morning. Well, actually he had the even more brilliant idea of tubing down Kelly Park, but he wasn’t the only one who had that idea. By the time we reached the park, they were full and weren’t letting anyone else in. Le Sigh. Still, I think canoeing down the river was just as great of an idea as tubing. ๐Ÿ™‚

On the 25 minute drive to the river my Dad and I split a bag of Sea Salt & Vinegar potato chips.

And we stopped at Publix for Subs.

I had a veggie sub with swiss cheese and all the fixins’.

The 2 hour canoe rental came to a total of $5.00 for the two of us! Not only was the canoe rental cheap, but it got us outside and our arms got a killer work out with the paddle. I should canoe more often!

I sat in the front and let my Dad guide us in the back.

The ride was GORGEOUS!

I was on the look out for any gators, but my Dad said the water is still too cold for them. I did see some turtles. ๐Ÿ™‚

Unfortunately the clouds began to roll in and we had to head back home. Boooo to rainy Saturdays!

I had an apple on the way back. ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s only 3:30 and my Dad and I are stumped on what to do! He wants to see Robin Hood, but I just saw a movie last night.

Hmmm…. decisions. decisions.

What’s your favorite rainy day activity?

What a fun day! I love to BBQ and eat outside ๐Ÿ™‚ Do you two have dinner plans? If not…plan a fun dinner and then cook together!

You are the luckiest girl alive to live where you do! There seems to beSO much to do!!
I like renting films if it’s crap weather, or having like, a Gossip Girl/SATC marathon – or baking!! Baking wins ๐Ÿ˜€
Enjoy the afternoon!

Looks so fun and peaceful! I was just saying today that I want to go kayaking. I love watching movies and cuddling on the couch when it’s crappy out. ๐Ÿ™‚

So beautiful! Sorry you got rained out ๐Ÿ™

I like to go to Barnes and Noble on rainy days and peruse magazines and cookbooks! I could spend hours there!

What a beautiful river! Kayaking and canoeing is my favorite summer workout. I especially like that you can drink beer and tone your arms at the same time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Rainy day activities I love: Games and galleries. They are fun things and usually cheap.

Or you could go to the arcade?

That sounds like fun! Salt and Vinegar chips are the best!!!
I like to shop or see a movie on a rainy day.

Wow. I love those pics. It seems sooooo peaceful and serene by that river.

I like to cuddle up with a blanket and either watch a movie at home or read a book on a rainy day. A cup of tea is also usually involved.

I have major Dad time jealousy!
I’ve been canoeing with my dad since it was safe to be on the river : )
That sub looks really yummy!
Enjoy the rest of your day together!

Your canoeing adventure with your dad sounded like a great time. I love to just curl up on the couch and watch movies when the weather is bad. And maybe a glass of vino? Enjoy the rest of your day whatever you decide to do! ๐Ÿ™‚

My mom, brother, and me went canoeing on our local river last summer! It was so much fun! Except when I tried to hop out onto an island… I fell right into the water! Oh well; in hindsight, that made the trip even more fun! We had a thunderstorm pop out of nowhere today, too… at least its not cold anymore, though!

21 runningwithsass May 29, 2010 at 10:14 pm

it looks so beautiful! I love the turtle!

22 luckytastebuds May 29, 2010 at 10:14 pm

I love playing board games (yes i hear “dork”) like scattegories!! Or card games are fun too! ๐Ÿ™‚ If you have a big group, Cranium is great.

23 hundredtenpounds May 29, 2010 at 11:43 pm
