Jillian Michaels' Yoga Meltdown Review

by Meghann on May 6, 2010

The other week I was the lucky winner of Jillian Michael’s Yoga Meltdown thanks to a giveaway Bobbi was hosting on her blog N Her Shoes.

The Yoga Meltdown DVD contains two 30 minute yoga workouts. In typical Jillian fashion each work out consists of 3 circuit sessions that are divided by a couple of sun salutations.

This is NOT your typical yoga DVD. Jillian is tough! Throughout the work out she really focuses on holding ‘power poses’ for 15 – 30 seconds at a time and putting her own twist on common poses. She also loves a good chaturanga push up! There was a whole series of push ups thrown in that had me dropping to my knees.

Do I believe this DVD can help you lose up to 5 pounds in a week? No way! I didn’t even break a sweat!

I would say this DVD would make a great supplement to any work out, but on its own it is just ok. Nothing was too challenging (besides the push ups) and the 30 segments were a bit too short for my taste.

I think for all my yoga needs I will be sticking to my hot yoga classes and let Jillian stick to what she’s good at – the 30 day shred. ;)

I completed level 1 of the Yoga Meltdown DVD after work, but before then I had some mixed nuts as my snack.

Do you ever have those weeks where you swore you purchased the whole grocery store only to realize you bought practically nothing? Yep, that’s me this week.

I bought a full cart of groceries on Monday and somehow my fridge is now empty. It’s just me – where did all the food go?!?!

With nothing to eat in the fridge I headed to the freezer for dinner and discovered some salmon burgers I had purchased from Costco forever ago. I knew the salmon would make the perfect salad topper for what vegetables I did have in the fridge.

The veggies underneath the salmon burger included arugula, radishes, onion, broccoli, mushrooms and tomato. All the veggies were seasoned with some oregano and sauteed on the stove top for five minutes.

An apricot dressing and sprinkle of un-sweetened granola & goat cheese finished the dish.

I prefer hot salads to cold salads. I also prefer hot sandwiches to cold sandwiches. I think I just like hot meals in general. :)

For dessert I had the last 1/3 of my chocolate bar and a coffee flavored salt water taffy.

How cute are my parents?

Heading to bed now!

Is tomorrow really Friday?!?! Woo hoo!!

Girlfriend Getaway Take II

by Meghann on May 6, 2010

Remember back in March when I drove the Chevy Traverse for Girlfriend Getaway Orlando?

Well, the time has come again.

Only this time it’s a Malibu!

Not too shabby, right? ;)

The Southern Chevy Dealers of Central Florida invited all four bloggers back (plus one additional – Hi Kiran!) to test drive a 2010 Malibu and blog about our missions in the area.

10

The same rules apply as last time – I will be blogging on the www.girlfriendgetawayflorida.com website twice a week, as well as uploading videos. The Southern Chevy Dealers will be covering $100 worth of gas for the month as well as funding some of our adventures.

The Traverse was fun to drive because it was big, easy to navigate, and extra roomy. The Malibu should be fun to drive because of the great gas mileage, spacious trunk, and sleek design. I can’t wait to test drive it and report back on all the fun features! Be sure to follow myself and the other Orlando Chevy bloggers are www.girlfriendgetawayflorida.com!

While we signed papers this morning, I nibbled on a plate of fresh fruit.

My Malibu was provided by the great folks at the New Smyrna Chevrolet Dealership. (They also provided the following photos – thanks guys!)

These guys know their stuff! They spent an hour going over all of the fun features the Malibu has to offer and assisted me with setting my phone up with blue tooth in the Malibu.

I have to admit, I am VERY exciting about the bluetooth capabilities in this car! I could never figure out how to set it up on my own in the Traverse, so it was great having the guys there to assist me step by step.

Notice the camera men following us around?

I now know what it is like to be a reality tv star.

They were filming for some commercial segments for the local area, so if you are in the Orlando area check out WESH Channel 2 for my smiling face in the near future. :)

When I made it back to the office it was lunch time.

I made an egg salad sandwich last night with 2 hard boiled eggs, avocado, tomato, honey mustard, olives, spinach, S&P.

With some Pop chips (free sample) on the side.

A little refreshment.

The meal was small, but filling. :)

My company’s website just launched! Yippee!!

Today will be a good day

May 6, 2010

Good Morning! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and I am hell bent on that fact that today will be a good day. If I believe it enough, it has to be true, right? I didn’t feeling like hauling all my crap to my nice fancy gym this morning so I did a more »
