Pool, Sunshine, and Puppies – what better way is there to celebrate a 3 day weekend?!?! :)

IMG_8461.JPG

After spending the whole weekend with my family in Orlando, it was my turn to drive to Titusville to spend the day with them.

IMG_8441.JPG

The last time I was home my parents had just planted a little garden. A month or so later I was happy to see the garden in full bloom!

IMG_8447.JPG

Check out the fresh veggies.

IMG_8451.JPG

IMG_8457.JPG

The garden is actually my little bro’s baby. He planted all the vegetables, weeds daily, and make sure the garden is well watered. I’m so proud. :)

IMG_8455.JPG

The garden isn’t the only hobby my brother has invested in this summer. Check out his new toy.

Ben built this potato launcher all on his own!

IMG_8439.JPG

My little brother never fails to impress me with his skills. He can just look at something and automatically know how it works and be able to build his own version of it. I wish I had that gift!

My Dad brought the grill out for lunch.

Meat, Meat, Meat (Kelly and I have the two veggie burgers on the bottom right corner)

Veggie Kabobs!

IMG_8422.JPG

I <3 veggie kabobs! Ours were good too! We had eggplant, pineapple, zucchini, yellow squash, and mushrooms on each skewer.

My plate

  • Veggie Burger
  • Corn on the Cob
  • 2 Veggie Kabobs
  • Balsamic Coleslaw

Delicious! The perfect summer meal. :)

My Dad’s version of poolside dining.

IMG_8473.JPG

As you can tell, the dogs didn’t seem to mind. ;)
We set up a strawberry shortcake bar for dessert.

IMG_8507.JPGThe pool water was amazing. We lucked out that the rain held off just long enough to get a few hours of sun in before the afternoon thunderstorms rolled in. It was honestly a perfect Memorial Day. I feel like I’m always hustling and bustling on 3 day weekends trying to get the most out of them that I can, but I forget that sometimes it’s nice to just stay home and relax.

I left my parent’s house around 4:00 and headed home to collapse on the couch. Maddie and I enjoyed a lovely hour nap. We were both pooped after a day in the sun!

I felt like I had been nibbling all day, so I kept it light for dinner.

Nut crusted parsnip fries with barbeque sauce.

Steamed english peas

My sweet tooth really wanted a small bowl of ice cream with 1/2 a scone for dessert.

Now I just have to get through 3.5 days of work before VACATION time!!! Woo hoo!!

Swim + Run

by Meghann on May 31, 2010

Happy Memorial Day everyone!!

Kelly and I took advantage of our free Monday and planned a brick work out for the morning.

We started with a 1km swim at Lucky’s Lake (which was packed!)

And ended with a 4 mile run.

Basically we rock. ;)

Before the brick work out I fueled up with a delicious bowl of cereal.

IMG_8403.JPG

  • 1/2 cup Maddie Wishes this Was Her Cereal <– the last of the container :(
  • 1/2 cup Honey Puffs
  • 1/2 cup Peanut Butter Puffins < — the last of the box :(
  • Plain Yogurt
  • Defrosted frozen strawberries < — I was out of all fresh fruit
  • Raisins

IMG_8408.JPG

The big bowl of cereal held up surprisingly for my hour long work out.

After I returned home I had a serving of dried fruit with peanut butter.

Good luck to all the San Diego marathon runners who will be kicking booty next weekend. That means you, Bobbi!!

And I’m off to the Memorial Day BBQ at my parent’s house! Let’s home the rain holds off!

Ghost Dogs comin’ at ya! Trying to get a clear picture of Maddie and her cousin Oliver is next to impossible, but trust me they had a blast playing all afternoon.
