House of India

by Meghann on April 17, 2010

Tonight I had the pleasure of dining with some fabulous local Miami bloggers at House of India.

Don’t you just love is when restaurants have original names like ‘House of India’ or ‘Thai Place’ or ‘New York Style Pizza’??? If I ever open my own restaurant one day I am going to call it ‘Mystery Meat’ and make it 100% vegetarian just to throw people for a loop. 😉

I always try to order something new when I dine at an Indian restaurant. Tonight the Navrantam Korma was speaking to me.

IMG_0822

I ordered the dish medium and came out with a great level of heat. 🙂

Naan is probably one of my favorite parts of dining at Indian restaurants. Instead of the usual whole wheat naan, tonight I decided to order the stuffed naan with spicy potatoes and tomato for the table.

IMG_0831

The stuffed naan reminded me of pizza with out the sauce. It was stilly just chewy and delicious as regular naan, but now had a little bit off extra flavor and a kick to it.

My plate was perfect because everyone ordered something different and everyone was willing to share. I got a little taste of everything and had no complaints.

Thanks to Jessie, Melissa, Meredith, and Jules for letting me crash on your dinner plans tonight. It was great to meet you all. 🙂

Everyone please cross your fingers for NO rain tomorrow morning! There are plans for a scenic bike ride in the everglades and I really don’t want to miss it!

Thanks 🙂

We had Indian tonight too… but we went to India House. Such creative names 🙂

I thiiiiink that restaurant is in Coral Gables, yes? I recognize the outside. I went to UM and lived right by there! I wish I’d known it was good before I moved away; my friends and I could never find a good Indian restaurant in Miami!

It looks like that food was 100% delicious! Bo and I were both craving Indian tonight though we didn’t quite make it. We settled for easy Mexican from Chipotle.

That dish sounds delish! I’m hoping for no rain:)

I’ve never seen stuffed naan before. My mom and I drool/bond over naan. It’s pretty funny.

Cute restaurant name 🙂

Meghann! I LOVE YOUR BLACK DRESS YOUR WORE TO DINNER! 🙂 May I ask where it was purchased? 🙂 🙂

8 Meghann April 18, 2010 at 7:40 am

I bought it from Target a while back. It’s a little big on me, but really comfy 🙂

Oh I want to try Indian food now; I went out for it once when I was little (like 10) but I was such a fussy eater – I just got chicken and chips!!
Fingers crossed for the weather 🙂

Never had British-style Indian food? You’ve never lived! Try going to Brick Lane in London, or better still the curry mile in Birmingham- Jamie Oliver’s favourite 😉

Ditto to all this! Freya, there are some amazing Indian restaurants in the UK 🙂

I love Indian food! I have never had stuffed Naan… yummy!

13 NYCRunnerGirl April 18, 2010 at 7:04 am

There is a place near my office that is literally just called “pizza.” No one knows if there is an actual name for this place! The pizza is pretty good though 🙂

Looks like a fun night!

14 Anna April 18, 2010 at 8:14 am

Yum!!! Indian food is SO delicious!

15 Ada April 18, 2010 at 8:15 am

That looks like such a fun meet-up! My friend and I did the Miami Half earlier this year and had such a great time exploring lincoln road. As a pre-med student it’s also nice to see that your brother can escape from med school for a few secs to grab brunch:)

Clearly I have never had naan, is that how it is supposed to look? Seems almost burned, but sounds like it was just right!

17 Matt April 18, 2010 at 8:43 am

MMMmmm Indian food 🙂

18 Jo April 18, 2010 at 9:03 am

Have you ever tried Peshwari naan? My favourite- naan stuffed with raisins, sultanas, coconut and fennel seeds… soooo nice! I can’t believe they offer wholemeal naan bread in Florida- they don’t even have brown rice on menus in restaurants in the U.K. Careful of the alligators tomorrow! So looking forward to the pictures 🙂

LOVE naan….it’s been so long since I’ve had Indian food!

Indian is probably one of my favourite types of food.

22 biz319 April 18, 2010 at 11:24 am

I’d love to try an Indian restaurant – you should try making my chicken tikka masala – just the right amount of heat and easy to do!

You might also like the beet hummus I just posted for this weeks BSI, which was beets!

That sounds GOOD! I’ve actually never had Indian before!

24 sweetandsweat April 18, 2010 at 11:53 am

Indian food is the best. I could probably live on Garlic Naan. Or just Naan.

25 Lauren @ Eater not a runner April 18, 2010 at 12:16 pm

Indian food is the best, enjoy the bike ride!

26 missyrayn April 18, 2010 at 1:11 pm

I love ordering new things that I normally wouldn’t eat too. It gives me a chance to try stuff that I don’t normally think of but end up tasting delicious…normally.

I hope you got to go on your bike ride because I want to see the pictures 🙂

27 Linda April 18, 2010 at 1:59 pm
