My Hometown

by Meghann on April 13, 2010

There is something about enjoying a beautifully plated lunch while dining al fresco that just screams summer to me.

At least that’s what it felt like to me today. The temperature outside is amazing and there is barely a cloud in the sky. I figured if I am going to be stuck inside at my desk for the other 8 hours of my day, I might as well enjoy at least one of them outside.

To top off the great weather, I also ate a great lunch.

My whole wheat pita pizza was topped with marinara sauce, kale, artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, and swiss cheese then baked at 415 for 5 minutes.

The pizza was simple, yet delicious.

On the side a refreshing pear.

My mid-morning snack was a serving of peanut butter pretzels.

This reminds me of last summer when I interned down on Hilton Head Island. The weather was gorgeous and the beach was steps away but I was stuck at my desk for 8 hours!! I would park my car super far away just so I could savor the sunshine for a few more steps.

Oh goodness! I couldn’t imagine growing up in such a small town. I grew up in Boston – right in the city. I used to take the subway to school. :-)

My brother bought it for me for Christmas. I think he got it at Kohls?

Yum — homemade pizza is on the menu for tonight and I can’t wait! So much goodness. :D I was born and raised in Washington, DC, and can’t imagine growing up in a small town like that.

Yum!!! That pizza looks so good. Do you just use a regular size whole wheat pita as the crust?

Haha, “most bestest place in the world” is quite an honor for your hometown ;) .
I think some students made a similar video of our town…it was equally charming.

P.S. I’m having pizza envy right now! Looks so good.

Ahh, T-ville! Hahaha, I have relatives there who we always visit on our Florida trips. It is so boring! And that river! It smells so bad! I do love Sunshine Bread. And sitting on the porch playing cards. However, it’s always great to drive on back to where we stay (with other relatives) in Winter Park at the end of the visit…

Did you go to Astronaut High School?

The funny thing is the skating rink was THE place to go when I was in elementry school, but it burnt down a few years back. I’m actually surprised its in this video.

Ha! That video reminds me of my hometown growing up. :)
My husband grew up in Vero Beach and years ago his dad used to commute to Titusville for work. His favorite restaurant? Dixie Crossroads.

That pizza looks amazing.
That video was hilarious :) Hey, my town doesn’t even have a wal mart, mall, movie theater, or bowling alley. We do have a mcdonalds (only one. lol) and a 7-11. We have a museum too! haha (it’s va, I think it’s mandatory for towns/cities to have museums in virginia lol)
We also have our own little overpriced seafood restaurant :) (where I work, lucky me lol)
Unfortunately, my town doesn’t have a song :( lol

I’m currently at the library (where you cannot eat food, yet I always try and get caught) and feel like RUNNING out of here to go get some pretzels!!!!!!!!!!!

I love eating lunch and dinner outside in the summer! It feels like being at an outdoor cafe, or something :-)

So these whole wheat pita pizzas?

I’ve been SCARFING THEM DOWN WITH WILD ABANDON.

(They’re like the “kitchen sink” pizza for me – anything random or left over or going bad next goes on top!)

–with copious amounts of garlic salt.

hooray!

35 jentrinque April 13, 2010 at 7:15 pm

That video was pretty funny…I think most people feel that way about their hometowns! When I go home (which is rare, since it’s hundreds and hundreds of miles away!) I’m always really glad I don’t live there! But when I met kids/young adults who live in the town I live now, they’re always wondering why the heck I would want to live here!
