PARRRTTYYYY!!!
What happens in New Orleans, stays in New Orleans right?? π
The rest of the conference was a breeze. All of our morning sessions went smoothly and thankfully there weren’t any glitches.
Since we were ending the conference with a late lunch, we set up a mid-morning break for the attendees featuring beignets.
I had one and it didn’t even compare to the Cafe Du Monde Beignets I had tried the other day.
Not even close.
Before we knew it, it was time for the buffet.
I have to say I have been pretty impressed with our hotel’s catering service. The food was delicious both days and everyone raved about it.
I tried to fill my plate with as many veggies as I could.
FInally the event came to an end with a slideshow I had created of all the pictures I took over the past couple of days and a few fun giveaways.
It was almost sad to watch all of our clients go. It was nice to get to know these great people in person and not just on the phone. Everyone was trying to guess where next year’s event is going to be, but honestly we still have no clue! We’ll leave that decision until we’re back in the office on Monday. π
A couple of co-workers and I celebrated our successful conference with a drink at the hotel bar.
I had a glass of cab, it was fab! π
One thing I love about New Orleans is how walker friendly it is. We always try to pick cities where out attendees have no need to rent a car and New Orleans fit the bill perfectly. And even if things are not within walking distance, Ne Orleans offers a trolley service that goes up and down different streets in the city.
A large group of us took the trolley to dinner last night.
The French Quarter Festival is happening this weekend and we wanted the restaurant away from the large crowds of the French Quarter. A lot of people had highly recommended Mendinas, which was just a short trolley ride away.
Of course there was a wait, so we all grabbed some drinks at the bar.
I had another Abita Amber at dinner. I really enjoyed this beer. π
The menu at Mendinas was not health friendly at all. Everything was fried or plain and boring. Someone had said their trout almondine was amazing and even though I had no idea what trout almondine was, I ordered it and hoped for the best.
Ughh… not impressed. It was fried trout covered in gravy and almond slices. π This was not a Meghann friendly meal. I hate about 1/4 of it and stole some fried shrimp off of a co-worker’s plate.
I did finish off the green beans that came on the side.
Thankfully our server had suggested a great italian bakery for dessert and it more than made up for my lackluster dinner.
Hello Gelato!!!
I ordered a small cone of Praline Gelato and it was fabulous!
All day I had heard stories of co-workers who had gone out on Thursday night and really partied it up on bourbon street. It sounded like they had a blast and I was determined to let loose and join the party tonight.
Like I said above “What Happens in New Orleans, Stays in New Orleans.” π
I woke up this morning with a bit of a headache – ok, my head is throbbing – but it was totally worth it. I had so much fun cutting loose with co-workers and I wouldn’t trade it for a second.
Derek and I have reservations this morning for breakfast and then we are off to explore the French Quarter Festival.
Have a great Saturday everyon!!
Waay you must be relieved it’s all over! Looks like you sure had a night to remember (or not, if you’re hung over :p)! Glad you had fun π
Fun! I have always wanted to go to NOLA but thought it was only “happening” during Mardi Gras. I’m glad I can hit it up when it works for my schedule and have a blast like you did π
Love the first picture!! And you always seem to find the ice cream!! Have fun today!
What a fun night!! Hope your head feels better..sometimes it’s totally worth it though π
Looks like you had a blast, loved all the pictures!
“I hate about 1/4 of it”. Lol, I love Freudian Slips!
So happy for you that the work is done. Have an amazing time in New Orleans! There’s just too much to do in one weekend!
I’ve never been to NOLA, but would love to take in some Southern culture one day! During your stay there I’ve definitely noticed that there aren’t a lot of healthy options out there, especially when you go out to eat. Although, the catered foods looks great and I think it’s great to live it up on vacation and to try the local food – healthy or not.
Hope you recover quickly from a fun night of partying!
Looks like you had a blast! Congrats on another successful conference!
looks like ya had a great night π
jenna
So nice to see you cut loose – so often the popular food bloggers limit themselves to one or two drinks, even in festive party situations…I’m glad to know that even super health-conscience Meghann lets go when it is appropriate! Woohoo! A wee hangover makes you appreciate how great you feel most mornings, and really makes breakfast taste great π
What is that around your neck in the first picture? A camera on mardi-gras beads?
Glad everything went well with the event! Sounds like you and your team did a great job. Gelato! I still have not tried it. Hope you and D have fun today
SO much fun — love beignets! They are required eating in NOLA. π
Mmm praline gelato sounds delicious!
I’m glad the conference went well! I love walkable cities. I hate having to drive everywhere!
Looks like a fun night! New Orleans looks like such a fun city!
Looks like a blast!! Sometimes you just have to live a little…
Looks like fun!
I went to New Orleans as part of a cross-country USA tour I did a few years ago. I loved it! Many morning-after headaches occured, I can assure you!
glad you are having fun and enjoying the city! sorry you didn’t like your dinner. New orleans definately isn’t known for it’s healthy food options!
Yum! Gelato is amazing. π Glad you had a fun time!
Congratulations on being done with the conference! It must feel good to have the rest of the weekend to relax and spend with Derek. Hope you are enjoying the day. The catered food looked amazing. The fish from dinner – not so much. I am glad the gelato made up for it π
YAY for New Orleans adventures!
I have been dying to try the beignets!!! They look like heaven.
That dude is totally crotch grabbing himself in one of your photo’s!! It’s like one of those pictures that you see in e-mail chains of “look at the background”
Glad you had a great time, though!
I’m from New Orleans and love both those places! Sorry you didn’t have a great experience at Mandina’s but glad you enjoyed your Brocato’s experience!
haha glad to hear that you had a fun evening!!!
That is so sad about dinner. I never went to that place so no idea on it.
Have to laugh though…. one picture you have is of the Bourbon St. Blues Club…. I have a very short stint there as a cocktail waitress (aka shot girl) when I was in college. I just HATED leaving at the end of my shift with all kinds of cash on me, felt so unsafe, so I stuck with my regular waitressing job instead.
What happens in New Orleans stays in New Orleans….except when you post it on your blog! Lol. Looks like a fun trip.
Oh New Orleans is so fun! Glad you’re having a good time. I had to laugh out loud when I saw the picture of you on Bourbon St. and the guy in the orange shirt is, uh, grabbing himself? Hopefully he’s not a colleague…? Enjoy the French Quarter!
I’m sure your bf would love to see the 1st pic
um, that is her bf?
lmao!
Haha! Why don’t you read her blog before you comment?!
It was a joke dumb ass
You didn’t know that was her bf and you’re calling me a dumb ass? lol
Looks like you’re having lot’s of fun…but um, the picture below your gelato….I hope you don’t actually know the guy in the orange shirt….look’s like he’s pickin a front wedgie if you know what I mean….HILLARIOUS all the same! Enjoy the rest of your trip.
Looks like tons of fun! Love your shirt too, where is that from? It’s so cute!
Bahahahah way to put up a pic of that guy totally…ahem…”rearranging.” π Looks like you had a great night (despite the lackluster dinner)!
Sounds like a fabulous trip!! Enjoy the rest of your time in New Orleans!
New Orleans is so much fun! so glad you’re enjoying it!
oh boy what a fun night you had!!! i seriously need to get to new orleans…i pass it so many times and never go…arg.
I’m glad you enjoyed New Orleans! It’s one of my favorite places. π
awesome
I’m so glad you and Derek had a blast in New Orleans:)
Looks like a blast! Enjoy the rest of your stay!!
I love to hear when people have fun on trips. Too bad about that trout dish. Fish + Gravy sounds pretty bad.
Nothing could compare to Cafe Du Monde’s Beignets.
Glad you survived it all and that you are living the life in Nawlins right now π
Hahahahaha – looks like youΒ΄ve had quite a day!
Lovely pics, Meghann!
π
Have an amazing Sunday!
Brazilian XOXOΒ΄s,
Gabriela
I never knew Gelato could look so good!
Congrats on what looks like a very successful conference!!!
