A Farmers' Market Stroll

by Meghann on March 27, 2010

The Winter Park Farmers’ Market was jammin’ this morning!

I’m not sure if it was all the fresh vegetables, the fabulous local vendors, or the fact that spring has finally in sprung in Central Florida, but the market was packed!

I sampled my fair share of offerings and stopped at my favorite drink stand for an unsweet tea with lemon.

Maddie had a ball checking out all the other dogs at the market. She must have sniffed at least a dozen butts!

IMG_2623.JPG

We had plans to hit the dog park after the farmers market, but Maddie was really dragging and in need of water and AC. Instead we headed home where Maddie got a big bowl of water, a couple of her new favorite Great Harvest dog treats and immediately passed out on her dog bed for several hours.

She was one pooped pup!

Overall I came home with a great haul from the market!

  • Whole Wheat Pitas
  • French Toast Bagel (my post-run treat for tomorrow)
  • Eggplant
  • Potatoes
  • Green Onion
  • Leeks
  • Avocado
  • Strawberries
  • Carrots

All for $9! Woo hoo!

When lunch came my heart was set on a great big salad. πŸ™‚

  • Carrot
  • Mushrooms
  • Tomatoes
  • Olives
  • Tuna
  • Goat Cheese

I adore the WP Farmer’s Market! It gives me a chance to hop on over to Park for a little boutiquing, too. πŸ˜‰
Next time you’re there, go inside the train station, and just to your left will be a coffee set-up. Order a soy peanut butter lattΓ©–yes, you read that right: peanut butter! It. Is. AMAZING!
Maybe I’ll run into you next time I’m there! Are you going to be at the Lake Eola Earth Day festivities? I went last year and it was awesome! πŸ™‚

Your farmers’ market looks fabulous! Mine is inside and still great, but I would imagine that strolling from vendor to vendor outside on a beautiful day would be so much more fun:).

Jealous that you have farmer’s markets already – ours won’t start popping up for at least another 2-3 months.

Enjoy your fun evening.
