Which Browser are You?

by Meghann on March 25, 2010

I know I’ve blogged about this before, but I think it needs to be repeated again and again – I love having a blog simply for the fact that it informs me what the mystery item I just pulled from freezer is and how long it had been there. 🙂

IMG_2517

This morning I pulled out a mystery soup to defrost for lunch today. I roughly knew it was some sort of peanut soup that I had made a few weeks ago, but I had completely forgot what was in the soup.

A quick search of ‘peanut soup’ in my blog database and I discovered my mystery soup was actually Spicy African Peanut Stew that I had made on March 2nd off of one of Mama Pea’s recipe.

IMG_2518

I re-read the post before lunch and was instantly excited to enjoy the soup once more. It did not disappoint. 😉

IMG_2516

On the side I had a piece of cornbread from the freezer that was baked the same night of the soup and apple slices to fulfill my odd apple craving on the way to lunch.

IMG_2522

My morning snack consisted of a serving of Peanut Butter Puffins.

Which browser are you?

I am almost embarrassed to admit that I am a loyal Internet Explorer user. Please don’t judge, I’ve tried everything else, but I always go back to explorer. 🙁

However, on my Mac I am a Safari follower, partially because I am too lazy to download anything else. (p.s. I am a big firefox hater. It’s ugly, clunky, and not user friendly)

So, my question for you: Which browser are you?

I have no plan to break my loyal ties, but I’m just curious. I mean I can’t be the only explorer fan out there…. can I?

1 Heather March 25, 2010 at 1:45 pm

Firefox all the way! when i first got my Mac I used Safari, and was really resistant to Firefox, but it’s so much easier to navigate if you give it a chance!

2 Domesticated-Bliss March 25, 2010 at 1:46 pm

I’m not ashamed to say that I love Internet Explorer. I hate Firefox and Mozilla is AWFUL. I don’t have a mac so I can’t comment on Safari 🙂 However, Google Chrome is actually pretty awesome I hear…

3 Nicole @ Geek Turned Athlete March 25, 2010 at 1:46 pm

Since I only use my mac now, it’s strictly Safari for me. It isn’t that bad. 😉 It took a couple of weeks to get used to it, but now I’m a Safari pro!

P.S. When I start biking a lot, my legs get huge too! Just ignore your dad!

4 Jenny March 25, 2010 at 1:48 pm

I am an IE user, and will never put it down! I love it:)

5 Melissa S. March 25, 2010 at 1:48 pm

Google Chrome!

6 britchickruns March 25, 2010 at 1:49 pm

I’m on Internet Explorer, it’s the only one I know! I’m hopeless with technology…
Haha, I love finding old things in the freezer! I discovered a salmon and cottage cheese muffin last night 🙂 YUM!

7 Meredith March 25, 2010 at 1:52 pm

I have a mac, and I LOVE safari more than any other browser. it just makes sense (like a mac). when I’m on my work or mom’s computer, I use IE because I, too, hate firefox.

8 Cara March 25, 2010 at 1:52 pm

I’ve been with Google Chrome from day 1, and will never go back. It’s the best!

9 Jenna March 25, 2010 at 1:53 pm

no shame to internet explorer! i love it and always go back to it- the others seem way to complicated for me!

10 mal March 25, 2010 at 1:57 pm

safari all the way!
and i agree–i can’t stand firefox!

11 lizrunsdc March 25, 2010 at 1:57 pm

Google Chrome and never going back!

12 Whit March 25, 2010 at 1:57 pm

GOOGLE CHROME is the SHIZNIT!!!

13 theprocessofhealing March 25, 2010 at 1:58 pm

I use Google Chrome and I LOVE it!!!!!

Isn’t the freezer awesome?! I love finding fun things that I had totally forgotten about.

14 Emily March 25, 2010 at 2:06 pm

Oh, I’m NOT sorry to admit that I love Internet Explorer. It’s so user friendly. I have Safari on the iPhone and it’s OK..I can’t really compare it to anything though because phone internet is a lot different.

15 Heather March 25, 2010 at 2:06 pm

I like Chrome, but a lot of that has to do with how SLOW IE was loading on my computer. I had to get up and walk away every time I opened the internet. You have to do a few things different in Chrome than IE that was annoying at the beginning (I thought it was”broken”) but once I figured it was all good.

16 Lo-Jo March 25, 2010 at 2:07 pm

Always used IE. Never plan to change for any reason. I stick with what I know. 🙂

17 megan March 25, 2010 at 2:07 pm

I’m an IE user as well!

18 Nicci@NiftyEats March 25, 2010 at 2:08 pm

Crazy thing is I love Internet Explorer on my work comp, but despise it at home. I then use Moxilla at home.

19 Kristina March 25, 2010 at 2:12 pm

I love my Firefox and really don’t care too much about Safari. I find it to be a lot slower than Firefox. ps. Your soup sounds delish! 🙂

20 peonynutshell March 25, 2010 at 2:12 pm

internet explorer 🙂

i find a blog helps when i blog about not liking somthing and ive forgoten il read it and be like ooh i wont buy that then!

xxxpeony

21 Christie March 25, 2010 at 2:14 pm

I have Windows 7 and I love IE! I tried Chrome because everyone raves about it and I liked some of it (like how it shows your frequently visited sites on the front page) but I eventually went back to good ole IE. I can’t remember what specifically I didn’t like — it may have been something about having to re-do all my favorites or downloading something that Chrome didn’t support. Now it’s IE & Me 4eva 🙂

22 Derek March 25, 2010 at 2:21 pm

do you like Windows 7? any problems so far?

23 Liz March 25, 2010 at 2:36 pm

Derek,
I really liked windows 7, but I upgraded from XP, and for some reason it completely messed up my computer. I don’t recommend upgrading to 7, but if you buy a new computer with 7 on it, then it’s awesome!!

24 Derek March 25, 2010 at 2:41 pm

yeah, i’ve heard grumblings about upgrading to 7. It’s about time for a new laptop anyway though. Thanks!

25 Christie March 26, 2010 at 12:12 am

I really really like Windows 7. I got this computer just before Christmas and I haven’t had any problems with it 🙂

26 Sarah March 25, 2010 at 2:19 pm

Firefox is ugly? Mine is customized with pretty pink cheery blossoms 🙂

As for clunky and not user friendly… I can’t speak to that. I find it easy peasey!

I’m definitely a Firefox user. I refer to IE as “Internet Exploder” because it crashes so often! I use firefox on my PC at work as well as on my Mac at home.

27 Lauren @ A Fit Foodie March 25, 2010 at 2:25 pm

I’m actually a Firefox girl myself!! Gotta love a Mac!!

28 Sarah March 25, 2010 at 2:29 pm

Oh, btw, I think many people who are die-hard Firefox fans is because of the open-source thing. Those people are generally Windows-Haters. Open source is where people can access all the coding that makes up the product. With Firefox, problems are fixed faster and better than with a private company like Microsoft. It makes sense that Firefox would be a better product because there are millions of people that can look at the code to improve it, as opposed to the limited number of Microsoft employees.

Just saying, that’s probably the big difference. It’s kinda like apples to oranges really.

29 Johanna B March 25, 2010 at 2:29 pm

On my work computer I use IE. The patron access computers at the library where I work are all FireFox. Everybody hates them.

30 Nekeisha March 25, 2010 at 2:31 pm

Definitely Internet Explorer but I also use Firefox. I have never used anything else.

31 emily March 25, 2010 at 2:43 pm

IE all the way, no shame!

32 Laura Georgina March 25, 2010 at 2:44 pm

I’m a Firefox girl all the way! It’s not the prettiest, I agree, but it works for me now that I know it so well. I’m so used to it that working with IE now makes my eyes hurt….

33 sarah (the SHU box) March 25, 2010 at 2:50 pm

safari + firefox! i hate how my blog looks in ie 🙂

34 Lauren @ Eater not a runner March 25, 2010 at 2:54 pm

Safari and firefox for sure! I only use IE when I have to for something work related 🙂

35 Sonia @ Master of Her Romaine March 25, 2010 at 2:56 pm

I’m totally a Firefox girl! I love the set-up and all of the ad-ons. I have a kitty-zilla theme and have a leopard print frame! I also love my ad-blocker 🙂

36 Babycakes March 25, 2010 at 2:59 pm

I’m a loyal MAC user, so I only use Safari 🙂

37 Leah March 25, 2010 at 3:00 pm

I go back and forth b/w IE & Firefox. The boy swears by Chrome though.

38 midgetkeeper March 25, 2010 at 3:00 pm

Love me some Firefox!

39 Debbie~ March 25, 2010 at 3:02 pm

Definitely Firefox…it’s works well for me and isn’t at all ugly imo:)

40 BostonRunner March 25, 2010 at 3:02 pm

Definitely Firefox. Our school actually tells us NOT to use Internet Explorer (something about avoiding viruses..) Have you tried Firefox? You should : )

41 Evan Thomas March 25, 2010 at 3:02 pm

Google Chrome! Kath convinced me. She could tell you everything you ever wanted to know about google

42 Michelle March 25, 2010 at 3:04 pm

I’m all about Google Chrome. Give it a shot, you won’t regret it!

43 Anna March 25, 2010 at 3:07 pm

GOOGLE CHROME ALL THE WAY!!!!

44 Kelly March 25, 2010 at 3:08 pm

Really? I love Firefox! I use google chrome at work though. Which is pretty awesome.

45 Kate N. March 25, 2010 at 3:10 pm

You are fine using IE unless its IE6. In that case, upgrade to 7 or 8 now! IE6 is a developers worst nightmare!

I personally love Firefox. Use it both on Mac and Windows. Safari was moving too slow for me and they messed up the buttons on it in the last big release. I may try using Google Chrome though.

46 Rachel @ Suburban Yogini March 25, 2010 at 3:11 pm

Mozilla, but I am thinking of changing to Google Chrome. I’ve been using Mozilla for so long though…. I’m not a fan of change 😉

47 Erin March 25, 2010 at 3:11 pm

I use Firefox 90% of the time. There are a few websites that don’t play well with Firefox and for those I use IE. Maybe I just don’t know how to use a browser to its fullest extent but I don’t find Firefox to be hard to use at all.

48 Kyra March 25, 2010 at 3:14 pm

I hate IE now that I discovered Firefox however i’ve started having some issues with it and i’m thinking I may make the switch to Google Chrome pretty soon! Everyone I know that has it LOVES it!

49 Michele March 25, 2010 at 3:16 pm

It fascinates me how people have differing opinions. I love Firefox and find it much more user friendly than Internet Explorer. Once I tried Firefox, I never went back.

That said, I do love playing with people’s MACs and may get one eventually. New browser love to follow…

50 Lauren @ Running Examiner March 25, 2010 at 3:17 pm

Ooh I love Firefox! IE is okay with me, but I find it to be kind of…muddled. I don’t know. I’m a Firefox girl.

51 Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday March 25, 2010 at 3:23 pm

Firefox rocks socks!

52 Andrea March 25, 2010 at 3:26 pm

I use firefox at work, and explorer or Google chrome at home.

53 Jen March 25, 2010 at 3:37 pm

I feel like I’m the only who doesn’t really care. I feel like they are all basicallly the same. I just use whatever i switch it up. Explorer, Chrome, Firefox doesn’t matter.

54 Katie March 25, 2010 at 3:37 pm

I use a Mac and I’m all Safari. Same reason as you. I’m just too lazy to download something else when this works just fine for me.

55 Quinn March 25, 2010 at 3:45 pm

I’m an Explorer gal myself!

56 Marianne March 25, 2010 at 3:46 pm

Google chrome all the way!

57 Lisa (bakebikeblog) March 25, 2010 at 3:48 pm

Internet Explorer for me too!!!
oooh and that soup looks yummy 🙂 I had soup for dinner last night too – so quick and easy – yet healthy too 🙂

58 Caroline March 25, 2010 at 3:48 pm

I love Google Chrome, but there are times when it sort of drags if I’ve had it open for hours on end. I love how streamlined it is, you get to see so much of the webpage without a bunch of tool bars wasting space. And the extensions for Twitter, Facebook, and anything else under the sun though!

59 Kat March 25, 2010 at 3:50 pm

I love internet explorer and really haven’t had any desire to try out any of the others. Why mess with a good thing? I never even realized that there were people out there that judged IE users haha.

60 runningwithsass March 25, 2010 at 3:50 pm

I love internet explorer. until the tone of your post I never knew that was a bad thing!

61 Sammi March 25, 2010 at 3:57 pm

I actually hate internet explorer! Firefox is my favorite 🙂

62 Erin March 25, 2010 at 4:01 pm

When I first got my Mac, I used Safari but then the Mac genius actually told me that Firefox is a better browser so I use that all the time now. Have to use Safari on the iPhone though.

63 secasey March 25, 2010 at 4:03 pm

At work I use Explorer because that’s what’s already on my comp, and on my mac I use Safari. On any other computer though I use firefox, since it’s much better at filtering out viruses, and I had a pretty bad experience with that on my old computer (and lost all of my music and photos 🙁 Not fun…)

64 christina March 25, 2010 at 4:05 pm

i go back and forth between chrome and firefox. i haaaaaaate internet explorer. so ugly!

65 Rachel in NC March 25, 2010 at 4:05 pm

Google Chrome is awesome! I love the streamlined address/search bar and it has lots of fun extensions, especially the Gmail one.

I also have Windows 7 and really like it as well…the only part I don’t like is the new Movie Maker. I prefered the older version.

66 Amber from Girl with the Red Hari March 25, 2010 at 4:05 pm

I use IE on my computer at work but I also have Firefox on it because some things I want to use don’t open in IE. I’m not a big Firefox fan either, though.

I HATED Safari when I got my Mac so I downloaded Google Chrome. So far I really like it!

67 Anna March 25, 2010 at 4:05 pm

Uh oh– I use internet explorer too! Is that a bad thing?!?

68 Dynamics March 25, 2010 at 4:09 pm

Firefox!! I love that I can customize to my liking. The tabs are amazing. Bookmarks are right there and only a click away. My tech guy said to NOT use IE.

69 Anna Webb March 25, 2010 at 4:16 pm

IE and me forever, baby. <3

70 Kristie March 25, 2010 at 4:29 pm

I love Firefox – and that you can customize it with downloadable themes (to make it less boxy and “prettier” if you want – or more futuristic, etc.). It runs much faster than IE when I use it and yeah, I definitely converted my now hubby. I think the key is giving it a week or so to get used to 🙂

71 Susan March 25, 2010 at 4:36 pm

you should try google chrome…it’s pretty easy to use. i hate internet explorer!

72 Laura @ Food For La March 25, 2010 at 4:47 pm

Google Chrome all the way! I love it. It’s so intuitive and user friendly 🙂

73 Dee March 25, 2010 at 4:49 pm

Hi Meghann,

I’m a Safari girl for the exact same reasons!

I am in need of some helping, speaking of computers and internet. How do you upload to Wordpress? For each entry do you log in and click “New Post” or use an easier way? I find it takes FOREVER to upload this way, and there must be a faster, easier way! Any tips?

Thanks!

74 Jessica Joy March 25, 2010 at 5:02 pm

I am a loyal Internet Explorer user!

75 Adam March 25, 2010 at 5:04 pm

Google chrome and in a pinch Firefox. I hate having to use Internet explorer, I would rather not even have access to the internet than use is

76 Emily March 25, 2010 at 5:10 pm

No votes for Flock? It’s the same platform as Firefox, but lets you integrate your social networks (Twitter, Facebook, Picassa, YouTube, etc) into your browsing. Love it!

77 Sarah March 25, 2010 at 5:13 pm

I’m a recent Google Chrome convert (Firefox before) and it is very easy to use, but I had a big “duh” moment the first time I tried to bookmark something.. it took me about 1/2 an hour to figure it out!! Turns out, you have to “star” the page like you do in Google Reader… who knew? I am not a fan of Internet Explorer, for the same reason you don’t like Firefox, it’s clunky and ugly, especially after using Chrome!

78 Molly March 25, 2010 at 5:15 pm

firefox all the way!

79 caronae March 25, 2010 at 5:16 pm

I used to be a SeaMonkey lover, but now I’m all about the google chrome!

80 Jessi March 25, 2010 at 5:21 pm

Firefox all the way. I don’t know how you don’t find it user-friendly! And after using it for many years now, I love all the changes they’ve made to make it even better, and I use several addons that make my life so much easier. Yeah, a browser that simplifies life? I’ll take it.

81 caitlin March 25, 2010 at 5:24 pm

chrome has spellcheck in it! its epic!

82 Beth March 25, 2010 at 5:30 pm

Chrome all the way. i love it except its not compatible with some things which is annoying, but i have firefox as backup.

83 prettytimepiece March 25, 2010 at 5:35 pm
84 Samantha March 25, 2010 at 5:36 pm

I haven’t used IE in years…too many problems with it for me. When I’m on a windows machine I use google Chrome although I was a FF user for years. Most of my work is done on my macbook and I use safari although I want to install snow leopard and play with it.

85 Hatty March 25, 2010 at 5:48 pm

Internet Explorer all the way!!

86 Shannon March 25, 2010 at 5:53 pm

I’m Safari all the way, Meghann, but when I had a PC it was all about Internet Explorer.

87 Tiffany March 25, 2010 at 6:00 pm

I hate, hate, hate IE (but don’t judge people who use it … too much hehe). It was the default browser at work, and the first thing I did when I started working there was ask IT if I could DL Firefox.

I’m a Mac user at home. I use Firefox primarily (I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It’s so easy for me to use and I customized it to make it look oh so pretty) and feel that it’s totally user friendly. Sometimes I’ll switch over to Safari, but very rarely. I’d like to try Google Chrome one day.

88 KatieTX March 25, 2010 at 6:07 pm

I use safari on my new mac laptop and use firefox at work. Firefox to me is faster and crashes less than IE did. I don’t find a huge difference in the 3 browsers if used on a decent computer or laptop. I love my mac for how fast and that it crashes so much less than a PC!

89 Matt March 25, 2010 at 6:29 pm

I use Google Chrome. Best browser out there!

90 learningtocookeatandenjoydeliciousfood March 25, 2010 at 6:51 pm

I absolutely LOVE Internet Explorer especially with Windows 7. I absolutely love it because I got it free and my dad works for Microsoft, so I might be a little biased. Well I hope that you keep working with Internet Explorer because it keeps my dad employed…. lol!! :p

91 Rachel March 25, 2010 at 6:57 pm

I am definitely a Safari user on my Mac. I love the browser and find it really easy to use. I hate Firefox. When I use a PC, I usually use IE.

92 Julia March 25, 2010 at 7:18 pm

Internet Explorer is my choice. I’ve tried the others including Google Chrome and just go back to the old easy favorite.

93 cookingforaveganlover March 25, 2010 at 7:19 pm

have you tried chrome? it’s great

94 kirsten March 25, 2010 at 7:22 pm

I love firefox! I use it on my mac at home and my pc at work. You should give it another chance, its better now than it was a few years ago.

95 suzanne March 25, 2010 at 7:24 pm

Google chrome for sure!

96 Emily March 25, 2010 at 7:26 pm

Can’t believe how many IE people are out there!

I started using Firefox in college, and I don’t think I’ll ever use anything else. My husband does web design, and get so frustrated with IE users–Firefox is much better about updating to accomodate the code he writes.

97 missyrayn March 25, 2010 at 8:41 pm

I use IE for most stuff but blog in Firefox because it works better with Wordpress.

98 rollerkoesterrun March 25, 2010 at 8:46 pm

I use Safari since it is standard on Mac’s, but otherwise use IE also! No haters!!! I don’t understand why anyone would… it gets the job done right?!

~Christie http://rollerkoesterrun.wordpress.com/

99 feetinmotion March 25, 2010 at 8:50 pm

I use a browser called “flock” it’s incredible and doesn’t cause problems or lag!! Plus it’s really nice for social networking and makes things real easy and right there!

100 sarah (shep) March 25, 2010 at 9:15 pm

google chrome on my MAC has been AWESOME! i love it. i like safari, but i love google chrome!

101 jessica March 25, 2010 at 10:03 pm

Google Chrome! I’ll never go back to anything else. But its only good if you download the extensions for gmail, facebook, etc.

102 Anna March 25, 2010 at 10:07 pm

Ha! I am a Firefox user. I switched yeeeears ago, and now when I have to use a different browser on somebody else’s computer, I feel about those browsers exactly as you do about Firefox (clunky, etc).

103 inmytummy March 25, 2010 at 10:25 pm

Safari.

104 Kate March 25, 2010 at 10:33 pm

I LOVE GOOGLE CHROME.

Sorry for all caps but that is how much I adore google chrome…which has changed my life! Check it out…not a bad download, it’s fast, doesn’t crash on me and it doesn’t freeze. It downloads pictures fast (which is great cuz I read over 100 blog posts a day) and it makes my internet life better 🙂

105 Kara March 26, 2010 at 9:11 am

google chrome makes my heart sing. so wonderfully user-friendly.

106 Tracy March 26, 2010 at 10:56 am

Haha! I use both Explorer and Safari, too! Safari because I’m TRYING to switch from Explorer and Explorer cuz I can’t give it up!!

107 Carolyn @ lovinlosing.com March 26, 2010 at 11:44 am

I a traditionalist and am using Internet Explorer!

108 Em March 26, 2010 at 1:18 pm

Personally I’m a Internet Explorer disliker. (I’m sorry! Don’t hate me!) I use Firefox at work and Chrome and Firefox at home. I’ve just had too many problems with Internet Explorer. I’ve always tried to use other browsers, even Netscape when that was popular.

(ducking and hiding)

109 Jen March 26, 2010 at 3:47 pm

At work, all I’m allowed is Internet Explorer! On my mac – definitely Firefox! I’m the opposite of you – i hate safari :).

110 Graze With Me March 26, 2010 at 3:56 pm

Moxilla Firefox at home and Google Chrome at work. I like the multiple tab features so much! I just can’t go back to having a million windows open at a time – I’m a multi tasker. 🙂

111 wnk505 March 27, 2010 at 8:50 am

don’t be embarrassed at all. I was internet explorer until about a month ago if that.

I loved internet explorer and why change something if it ain’t broke. I was switched to firefox by the boy. He did it for me. I really do wish I was more computer savvy.

112 runeatdatesleep March 28, 2010 at 5:36 pm

I use Firefox only because my old laptop hated IE. It took forever to load. However, a few sites I have to use for work require IE only, so I have to go back every once in a while.
